You can say that to games like RE4 and FFVII, if you dont like remake you play the original because they are available EVERYWHERE.
Thats not true for Demon's Souls....if you no longer own PS3 or it broke down you have no way of playing original game.

It's not completely changing the art style. One simply has no mask and skin showing. There is basically ZERO lore on these guys so who knows what the original "intent" was. Even then their location and placement and design never fit in anyway compared to others.Its not that simple....

Same hat style, same puff collar thing, same open/unbuttoned lower section of jacket, both with a belt, both with the little hook and keys from belt, both with the long gloves, same upper chest vest strap/harness.
This is one of the few commonly thrown around images too. From the entire game the same handful of images get used.
Nobody likes to compare the MUCH improved environmental elements and lighting.

You can selectively zoom in on some characters' faces or small details here and there. But overall, when actually playing the game, the remake has the same vibe as the original, but with far superior quality.

Demon's Souls has the least lore of the Soulsborne games. With random droplets for various characters not expanded upon beyond their descriptions.
EVERYTHING else is simply assumptions based on the meager bits of info and environments.

Meh, I don't like some of the changes they made too, but acting like it's a crime against humanity is doing too much.
Gameplay is king at the end of the day and it remained unchanged in remake. Hell, it's arguably improved considering it's now a locked 60fps. And you can always emulate the OG if it isn't to your liking.

I played both PS3 version and the Remake I still disagree about having same vibe, especially Tower of Latria.
In the remake just way overly bright compare to the original and the sound design in remake just kill entire atmosphere of that area.

One of the things made me attracted to FROM's games was their artstyle even back in Armored Core games and I'm type of person who values art direction over high tech graphics.
I dont care if everyone disagrees with me but I really HATED remake artstyle.....I hope one day Sony bring original PS3 version to PS5.

Damn even the voice acting in the OG emanates that eerie atmosphere, the nexus theme, it's just on another level. The remake is great looking but at the same time forgettable, sterile and disposable, sooner or later similar games with better graphics will release and it loses its only reason to exist.

I love the remake, but it doesn't have remotely the same vibe as the original. They have the same setting, characters, and gameplay, but the vibes are very different. The music, the art, the colors all give the game different vibes. And while the game is "superior" from a technical standpoint, I don't think that's true from an artistic standpoint.
None of this would matter if Sony would get off their ass and emulate PS3 games on their new system.

I was sooo disappointed that the erie sound in tower of latria in the remake are not presented there anymore. All the good enviroment sounds were gone.The new magic soundeffect are cool but dont really fit into that setting and artstyle.
Also the music itself was also such a bummer and letdown.
Only the graphics are top but yeah the dangerous, oppressive atmosphere are gone.Feels like a normal game to me almost.

Sorry but FROM must be laughing all the way to the bank - they were lucky enough as to find this very specific niche in which they can hide their laziness and budget restraints even though they've been swimming in money after DES and the Bamco thing (publishing)...
Their game have been doing the same thing for aeons, this bullshit has been going on since the KF and AC days on the PSX/PS2, assets reuse upon asset reuse, recycling ahoy, cryptic lore (bUT iTs on PuRPosE !), characters that speak with closed mouths (LMAO), no cutscenes in sight after the initial intro (animating things is too hard !) and so on so forth...and yet, people are still defending this bullshit for some weird reason.
Fuck, I love FROM but Goddamn if their fanbase isn't one of the most obnoxious, pretentious ones in all gamedom, the circle jerk is just too stronK.
