Minecraft director defends throwing popcorn in the theater, says viewers are just having a "true party"

This is piggish behavior. I can't believe someone would condone turning a theater into a giant mess and then just walking away while the staff have to clean up after your stupid behavior.

Fuck people who intentionally make a mess. Bad enough a lot of these lazy 'people' don't even walk their buckets to the garbage cans at the exit 10 feet away. But to intentional spill out popcorn, or drinks or whatever. These are just kids/young adults working a first job, usually minimum wage or close to it, and treated poorly the whole time. What a piece of shit encouraging the degradation of society.

It's a staged publicity stunt. Get us talking about a "phenomenon" type movie.
It's not a publicity stunt mate. People in cinemas all over the world are doing this. Even here in Holland. Gross behavior normally reserved for dirty animals.

If he was a real movie director, who loves a cinema experience, he wouldn't say this. He's also an asshole.

I agree. Let these kids have fun. Lord knows the theater workers have been sweeping bare carpet for the past year since no one goes anymore. Gen Z and Gen Alpha seem pretty cool. The only thing Gen X and Millennials did was revive transgenderism and ruined HR departments for a century. Let these kids throw popcorn and yell CHICKEN JOCKEY.

Last cinema I went to, there were 4 other people watching the film. One dude was guzzling and slurping on a drink so loud I could hear him from the opposite side of the room. I wanted to walk over and stove his head in. Then you've got people rustling sweet wrappers and stuffing their fucking faces with as much food as possible. And talking. All the way through the movie. No wonder cinemas are basically fucked.

my kid said the packed audience was the best thing about the film.

didn't hear about popcorn throwing tho. that stuff is expensive lol. it's $21 here for 2 pops and a med popcorn.

That's pretty disgusting defense of making life of theater workers worse and for annoying other audience members.

But who is surprised at a "Hollywood" (no idea where the director is from) personality being out of touch and scummy.

... And here I am making popcorn at home and feeling sorry for throwing away the kernels that didn't pop because I completely hate wasting food...

This is the second time ive read about this happening.

Sorry, but can someone explain why throwing popcorn in a cinema is a thing? Did it start with this movie? Is there any logic behind this or is this some social media thing, the hell is happening?

Minecraft movie director who made stupid statement sends personal apology and reimburses every moviegoer from his own pocket who went to see the film and had to endure immature popcorn-throwing assholes.

I worked in a theater for a few years when I was kid. Guys, a messy theater is not a big deal. It's part of the job, so don't be righteous about it for the sake of "the workers". I had to sweep the floor whether there was 1 kernel or a million. Soda is a different story though. That's a dick move.

Not the first time for sure, but for this specific movie, it seems like the gen Z crowd loses their shit when the chicken jockey enemy appears.

It's profoundly stupid.

Someone brought an actual chicken to their cinema.

I go to the theater like twice a week (in fact I'm typing this right now during the previews) and something like this would piss me off.
I saw minecraft a week ago and there was an entire row of kids behind me, but they behaved because their parents corrected them every time they were getting rowdy.

It's one thing to all laugh or cheer because of something that happens, but just being disruptive for no reason can easily result in a ban and I don't think these people realise that, they feel like they can do whatever they want because they paid.

I think this is a US thing.

My son saw this last week with his mates "for a laugh" (sure, son) and the only thing that happened was apparently some guy shouted out

"Dicks out for Steve!"

That was it.

"Just the fact that people are making memories at the movies - that's what it's all about,"

Or you could, you know, just watch the Movie and create memories from that?

It's dumb, it's stupid, it's the moronic world we've created with tiktok and social media....

However...

it's fairly harmless, I do think adults doing this need a fat slap, they should know better.

but little kids enjoying a family movie and having fun, I give it a pass.

When I was a little kid, my fucking parents made sure I had manners. I didn't fucking intentionally make a mess for minimum wage employees to clean up. Fucking entitled little shits and their brain dead parents are making this world unbearable.

I mean, this doesn't necessarily mean the child has bad manners if it's just a social thing. Again it's a retarded social media thing but I'm not gonna climb over some chair to beat my child into submission for just joining in a silly social thing with their friends. It's no different to when kids were doing fortnite dances at ceremonies and stuff.

I'm sure with the money this movie is making the bad guy is the producers and cinemas for not paying their staff extra now to deal with the extra work, as it should work.

I am assuming this is some Minecraft thing, and that's why kids are doing it, like you feed chickens popcorn in Minecraft or something.

the grown ass men doing this though deserve to have their ears ringing from a full force open hand slap.

People used to be able to have a shared space for entertainment and behave themselves. Now it's all pathetic "trends" and them seeing a fake online life as their real one. They should've been taught respect and some fucking shame.

I feel sorry for the other cinema goers who just want to watch a film. I feel bad for the workers having to worry about this shit and see it get more and more common and trying to figure out a way to stop it. I feel bad for the staff that have to clean up after these rats and know they'll be filming it and spreading it about all the while the staff probably have to stay an extra while to clean up.

Anyone promoting or defending this is a cunt. Disgusting to see them encourage this. Back when I went to the cinema, people usually opened their snacks and whatnot during the trailers at the start to be quite during the film. I couldn't imagine this horseshit happening.

Trying to stir up outrage, or create some stupid new trend, so people watch his crappy movie.

Telling them to STFU doesn't work unfortunately. Have tried many times, and people continue acting like cunts.

It's sad as I love the movie theater, I just hate people being disruptive, and half the time the movie is ruined by some idiot who's being disrespectful (and in the process I wasted 2-3 hours, and at least $20).

No one's going to get hurt from popcorn," he concluded. "Look, when I go to the movies with my kids, it's like a popcorn massacre that happens and they're not throwing anything, but it ends up on the ground, regardless.

Surprise, surprise. He's defending it, because he's a POS and makes a mess. Not surprising.

Also popcorn may not hurt anybody, but it is oily and I've gotten stains on a number of articles of clothing due to accidentally dropping it on clothing.

If somebody intentionally dropped popcorn on me, I'd be pissed. Mainly because it's intentionally disrespectful and secondly because nobody wants to be covered in food.

All for the lolz though, amirite.🙄

As my parents said, if everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? Stop excusing rude, trashy behavior.

It's the brain roting of social media at work. It's just as I said multiple times. All social media should be banned, period.
It's a real cancer in this modern society.
