No mentions on "users" or "players", but "sales". Seems like it's doing good and not front loaded. Word of mouth is doing its work now.
It's AC man, not some new IP no one knows about, brand can still carry the games, even buggy trash like Unity sold well, so I don't see why it would be different this time, Yasuke was the option for the devs to pat themselves on the back about how progressive they are, but there's an audience out there for these game, even tho peak of thre franchise reached with AC4
It would be if Naoe was white, but she isn't.![]()
I just found out that Ubi is referencing Spidey 2 in its cover - the color palette is not similar is outright identical.
EDIT: also 2 playable characters, one whit one black in both games, it cannot be coincidence
Likely revenue. It's obvious Monster Hunter would outperform this given how much that game sold. He didn't provide details on how this compares to Valhalla, so for now all we know is that it's selling well going up against nothing notable.I don't think Circana would necessarily know number of players anyway. So this is definitely sales (either unit or revenue).
Good catch![]()

Agreed, we just know it did better than Civ VII and KCD2.Likely revenue. It's obvious Monster Hunter would outperform this given how much that game sold. He didn't provide details on how this compares to Valhalla, so for now all we know is that it's selling well going up against nothing notable.
2. AC Shadows will be Ubisofts best performing game in 3 years
Where does it mention "shipped"?Shipped does not equal sold. The typical Ubisoft way of flooding stores with unsold inventory that will be sold for peanut in a year or two.
Good call on KCD2. I keep forgetting that one. We do know that sold well.Agreed, we just know it did better than Civ VII and KCD2.
We must perpetuate the narrative that the game is a failure no matter the cost!Shipped does not equal sold. The typical Ubisoft way of flooding stores with unsold inventory that will be sold for peanut in a year or two.
It is anything but a dry year. Look at some release schedules.sure... what else came out? it's a dry dry year.
I am liking the game quite enough
...and yet when I hear everyone cry, it's about Nintendo. Cry about this. Weep for our future.
To think of the gall it would take to whine to me about Nintendo prices while playing AC Shadows that was a paid copy. The arrogance. The condescension.
To think , the backdrop to the Switch 2 debacle is a bunch of Nintendo haters laid up playing the wokest game ever to release, driving it up the charts and paying full price to play it, complaining about games they will never play on consoles they will never own.
You are laid up playing full priced paid AC Shadows and IN SOME CASES LITERALLY CRYING about a new Metroid, DK, Mario Kart, Bloodborne, Hollow Knight, and Hades game. Let that sink in.

He mentions "best-selling" so I'm not sure why people would convert the context to "players" in the first place. It's clearly sales.I don't think Circana would necessarily know number of players anyway. So this is definitely sales (either unit or revenue).

Who is cheering?Played for 15 hours and couldn't force myself any further. The fact that some people are cheering for this game even though the story is truly shitty is worrying in my opinion. It's as if they've completely forgotten what makes a story good and compelling. Just blind them with high-quality graphics and that's it.
Sad times.

To be fair, there's been like 3 really good AC stories. Just 'okay' is fine enough for now. It's something to build on.Played for 15 hours and couldn't force myself any further. We'll have some figures/indication during Ubisoft's Q1 earning calls (which ended two weeks ago and takes 1 month to prepare)whew! that was a close one. saw the thread title, & i thought for a second there we were actually gonna get a 'copies sold' figure. as you were...

I have zero love towards anything AC and Ubisoft as whole but like or not people are free to enjoy what they want to enjoy.Played for 15 hours and couldn't force myself any further. The top three by copies sold on PlayStation was very tight. Assassin's Creed Shadows came in on the top spot, with 1.2 million copies sold. In terms of other high-profile 2025 launches, Monster Hunter Wilds took the #3 spot with 1.0 million. But this is a technicality.
The top 10 is for March copies sold, but Monster Hunter Wilds launched on February 28, when it had already sold 1.3 million copies on PS5. By the end of March, Monster Hunter had sold another 1.2 million copies on top of that. So the current total today sits at 2.6 million copies sold on PS5 — more than double Assassin's Creed Shadows' number.
We'd like to note, though, that Assassin's Creed Shadows is no disaster — nor is it a smash hit. It is selling OK. And we expect a long tail for the game, with an eventual Switch 2 release.
Again, Ubisoft's fire sales across the month across all platforms are likely part of a strategy to boost its revenues for the quarter and fiscal year — especially given recent news around structural changes across the company and Assassin's Creed Shadows not being the silver bullet Ubisoft needs.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, despite being part of a major franchise, shows a weaker performance – possibly due to franchise fatigue, a lack of presence on Steam, mixed fan sentiment, and stiff competition. Shadows lacks any sharp spike, with no clear breakout moment. It did far better on PlayStation though
