Cyberpunk 2077 Looks and Runs Much Better on Nintendo Switch 2 Than Steam Deck, New Footage Confirms

This is great, No Valve should announce the SD 2 and make it look much nicer than it does now. Which looks quite awkward 3 years later, still an amazing device but I find it looks dated now.

That's definately using DLSS, the artifacts look familiar when you run CP2077 DLSS at a very low resolution.

Looks really good!

I'm sure NSW2 will be a great piece of hardware. That being said, Steam Deck is an amazing piece of kit that is way more flexible than a standard console like the Switch 2.

I also much prefer the controls and ergonomics of the Steam Deck, Switch 2 looks like it will uncomfortable to play for longer stretches, like it's predecessor.

SD should get a price cut not because of Switch2, but because it's a three-year-old device (no, a slightly more efficient SoC, faster RAM, and an OLED do not constitute a new gen).

The VRR screen is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here, if you told me this was 60fps I would believe you.

If they can iron out the frame drops I think we have our first 'miracle port' on the Switch 2.

I'm also VERY keen to see what they can do with Witcher 3. As impressive as the S1 version is to even be running, I'd love a version of it without potato graphics. It should run pretty well.

It looks good but put it this way, steamdeck owners are more than ready to upgrade at this point but it would be disappointing if this were it.

I'm making a very confident prediction based on what I'm seeing.

This is running DLSS Ultra Performance at 1080p in handheld mode. Which is what, I believe around 360p in internal resolution. Given how good DLSS is at upscaling from low resolutions, the power constraints and battery life in handheld mode, this not only makes sense but at that size it will look very good as well.

You can quote me on that, it will be correct.

I am starting to think that we are going to have a better experience in the handheld mode vs TV due the Gsync…
VRR can look choppy on an OLED. I had Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 and couldn't get on with it at all, ended up playing it on Steam.

This display looks excellent, so much so I think they may have made the right choice not going with OLED.

2022 hardware vs. 2025, shocking news.

Wait had the narrative changed? Wasn't everyone saying the switch 2 was outdated 2019 hardware??

Regardless impressive for a Nintendo handheld from day 1 looking this good. Bodes well for later gen ports once people get more familiar and tools get better.

And when SD2 launches in a year or 2 well be reading "Cyberpunk 2077 looks and runs much better on the Steam Deck 2 than the Nintendo Switch 2, New Footage Confirms"
Then, this whole conversation will restart...again.

Ahh, the circle of life.

It's an outdated 2025 hardware, yes. It's getting 3rd party support from games a few years back on a locked 30 and probably medium settings or less. So no, do not expect many "late gen" ports few years from now.

Banking on Valve making a Mk2 of anything is a brave bet.

Is this 2025 version of "can't see the difference between 30 and 60 FPS"?
Discount Steam Dreck?
No, they should retire it.
"Steam Deck" will be updated every year now that SteamOS will be natively supported on ROG Ally and Legion Go. So if you want you can buy one every 2-4 years from Valve or in between from other manufacturers, whereas Nintendo Switch will be stuck with the same performance for 5-6 years minimum (unless they release Switch 2 Pro).

No need to retire the steam deck just yet, wait for a couple of years and then release the steam deck 2, so some actual worthy upgrade happens. Steam deck is still fine.

Should Valve discount the Steam Deck now to keep up with the NSW2?

SD was never going to "keep up with" any Nintendo handheld regardless of price. Either way, if someone wants a handheld to play Cyberpunk then there are better options than either SD or Switch 2.

What is a better option than an officially supported device (Switch 2) by the game's main developer? This is just the beginning for CP77 on the Switch 2. You know that by launch and afterward, CDPR will optimize the game significantly.

Specifically tailored version of a last gen game for a platform with DLSS, VRR etc vs. bruteforcing the standard version on a 3 year old system with garbage FSR....

The only thing this comparison shows is that people referring to it in regards to "Switch 2 wohoo" are utterly technologically incompetent.....or simply trolling/playing the clown like that GigaBowser dude.

Cyberpunkd Cyberpunkd already replied with the answer. If the game is optimized and beats Rog Ally X in head to head comparisons then that's fine, but going for the easy win against Steam Deck doesn't make a lot of sense.

No. It is not. DLSS isn't in the current SDK. It's expected sometime before launch (mid May I've been told). CP2077 will look much, much better on Switch 2 once it's patched with DLSS, RT and RR. Give them time. It took CDPR 18 months to get the PS4 Pro version to run the way it did and another 6 months to get the PS5 as stable as it is. What they've achieved in less than six month of total development time on Switch 2 is nothing short of remarkable.

People forget how taxing this game is, how abysmal it still runs of PS4XBO, the fact the expansion wasn't possible even on PS4 Pro / Xbox One X and the kind of $3000 PC you need to max it out with PT at 4k/60fps.

Call me when the Nintendo Switch can play games from many generations before and new games dirty cheap, also when you can boot in to desktop mode and use it as a PC or when you can emulated almost everything.

I've never used a Steam Deck, but I'm not a fan of the U Gamepad for ergonomics so I had heavy skepticism. Many people loved it, but it cramps my hands after 20 minutes. I thought Deck was temptingly awesome but waited for a refined SD2.

I feel Switch made this problem completely moot because you can just attach any kind of controller shape and size you want, even silly things like Gamecube joycons. I also think being deceptively larger will make them much more tolerable than the old ones, but if they don't, it doesn't matter 🤷‍♂️
