No. Better/tighter mechanics that allow for high level play

High level play on Mario kart World....If at least was MK8

As someone said in the NPD thread, they can only track physical sales of games, most of the sales of MKW are digital as most people get it in the bundle since it's cheaper.

You can't really compare them as we don't know the full numbers with no digital information. Plus MK8 is at #4 and MKW is at #6, doesn't sound like the gap is very big there.

I hope this isn't a serious MK64 to CTR PS1 comparison.

64 having more rubber bands than a bank alone makes the racing experience horrible.
😂 Nope, I was comparing MK World with CTR (or at least the remaster they recently released). Hence my video of high level MK World play.

Did I miss a recent network test? I have MKW and it's fine but lacking content bigtime. I'll check out Sonic if I can.

Just finished the Gran Prix in the open beta and the handling feels good. I played an online race and it went smoothly.

Let's see after one year... Switch 2 and MKW might take off for good or slowing down...? 😜
It will be evergreen like the previous titles. The masses will love the open world as they tend to simply play games and enjoy them. They rarely obsess over what a game does not have.

I don't understand the sound design of this game, it's like each music is passed by a "listening to music from an alarm clock in the bathroom" filter that just makes it so hard on the ears.

No HDR? Definitely expected HDR. And I find the sense of speed lacking the recommended speed mode but even the Sonic one is slow for me.

did some races and it has potential, the portal thing is really cool and not having to drive on a straight line from race to race feels good. I just wish that the portal thing wasnt a leader choice and more of a player choice, like, we have this two paths going forward, choose wisely and you may come out in the lead.

its has great sense of speed on Sonic speed and drives well, it feels a little "float" compared to MK but i just drove one car and the final race been a mix all the first 3 tracks is really cool.

Speed > Dynamic camera > wait for the super sonic speed mode (available later)
Yea I agree on the dynamic camera thing, I have no idea why the incredibly stiff looking, Gran Turismo-style 3rd person camera is the default setting. The dynamic one makes the camera pivot around a lot more like Forza Horzion and Mario kart and imo it dramatically changes the sensation of speed. Pre-release stuff didn't look to hot to me but now that I have that set it completely changes the feeling of speed the game gives you and now I'm legit hooked, I keep saying "one more race" which is awesome.

From what I've played so far, I don't know if I'd say this is better than Transformed, but I'll definitely say this is the first kart racer I've played that actually gets kind of close. You can tell this is made to be more arcade-style, given that its made by Sega's arcade division.

I will definitely try that one.

Does this look dim for anyone else too? As if a screen dimmer has been enabled. My friend has this as well, Xbox version.

I'm gonna try out the dynamic camera.

Much improved from the first closed beta. Still, they seemed to have removed older layout for controls. I prefer outrun style controls.

Game is amazing, loving the beta. Quite different from the previous games. Tracks are thinner, turn a lot more, drifting is essential. Slowing down during drifts to take corners is much more important than before. You lose a ton of speed when you hit walls or go out of the road. This is a much more technical game than the previous Sonic Racing games.

What's this ? Because at first I was not satisfied with acceleration on A. But in the options, you can choose RB.

And this actually puts acceleration on RB/RT, drifting on LB/LT and items on A. Which is perfect for me. I love Outrun 2 so I think this is what you are looking for.

Sonic looks more intriguing with more promise, World will probably be executed better but worse than 8 Deluxe for gameplay.
World was fun, but it got old really quickly for me. I used to play the hell out of SRT on Vita, so I'm actually looking forward to Cross World more. It would probably be awesome to play on the Steam Deck.

Oh shit there is a test right now? Never played a sonic racing game, the drifting and driving looks awkward on videos compared to mk, but im gonna give this a chance. MK world was such a disappointment

Oh! Didn't realize triggers copied the bumpers. Good to know!

even without HDR playing on a OLED makes the game shines even more, game feels way more skill based than MKWorld that for sure

I'm playing on a QD OLED but I find it looks strangely dim, as if a screen dimmer has been activated. Upping the game brightness helps a bit. But I really hope they bring HDR to make those specular highlights stand out.

Worlds better and I dont even like World. At least the vehicles there dont feel sloppy as hell to drive.

I think it's improved over the closed beta, but I still don't like it. I like World though, despite its' many warts.

Good to hear, i loved Sumo games but as for the off road, they didn't punish you that much...

just had the chance to play the demo of sonic cross worlds.

anyone who think this is even close to Mario kart world is smoking some shit that is expired 300 years ago.

What a joke compared to Mario kart world.

not a bad game. but nothing special about it either. will buy when its 15$ or something max

Lol, the fact that the game has Cross play alone makes it better than MKW, aside from the driving feeling better in MK, Sonic game feels more competitive, fast and skill based than MKW imo.

Now If you like to drive on straight lines every time you finish a race MKW is the better game 100%.

cross play is not a game mechanic. nor do I have a problem finding players in MKW. the game is trash. too narrow roads. all boards feel the same. all cars feel the same. too slow to even do flipping animation and the reward is garbage to the point you are better off not doing it. especially the holding the drift in the jet ski to jump up. Seriously a garbage game.

All power to the people who loved it. but this is a 100% flop.

Played a couple hours. Kind of a mixed bag in comparing this to MKW....

Better than MKW:
Visual design
Customization options
Gameplay intensity

Worse than MKW:
Vehicle handling (this is by far the biggest problem I see with Crossworlds in its current state)
Item diversity
Music and general sound design

Overall I'd put MKW ahead just because the driving feels so much better. It still baffles me how Sega seems completely unable to build on success when it comes to Sonic. How they have handled the racing series after All Star Racing and Transformed almost feels like an act of intentional sabotage: they gave Sumo Digital a nickel to make Sonic Team Racing, and when that underperformed because of the lack of content, they took Sumo out of the picture altogether so that Sonic Team could make an inferior game. Similar story with Sonic Mania.

Game is fun af, driving still feels a bit on rails? Its weird, but after a few rounds its definitely really fun
Turn off driving assist, it's on by default, took me a couple of races to feel like something was weird, turned that off and it's fun again.

The track design in this game is actually excellent but they need to figure out the controls

Im using a DPAD to play like this game like I did for the OG all stars racing on DS, the stick just doesnt feel right
