About to beat off
Everyone is how hyped for Hollow Knight and I'm sitting here waiting for my Hell Is Us code and it to unlock for me in 3 hours . . .
How long for the plat ? Yes I agree the game is truly amazing, sense of discovery is unmatchedAaaand... Platinum'd it!
Definitely in my Top 5 this year!
From "Ugh, this Demo is boring!" to "Hm, let's give it another try" to "Okay, it's pretty great, I think I have to buy it" to "OMG, give me that early access for 20 bucks more I NEED it now!!!" this was an absolute sleeper hit for me.
It took me 26 hours. Platinum was not that hard but I spent nearly 2 hours looking for one specific thing. How long for the plat ? Yes I agree the game is truly amazing, sense of discovery is unmatched
I read that there are about 5 enemy types...
I'm sorry but I can't pull the trigger on that.
A 30 hour game having that few enemy types is damn near unforgivable for me.
Maybe I'll wait for a sale because everything else looks top notch.
Game is becoming much harder on hard once you reached rank 2 ennemies (which you start to get once you reach the lake). I am getting pounded in the later maps.Played the demo part and reached the new zone.
Do yourself a favour and put the difficulty slide to the max, the heal pulse mechanic is way to strong and even with the sliders on max, enemies do like 1\3 damage of your average souls trash mob.
Don't play on anything below hard with sliders maxed out, too bad the game feel still super easy for now because the combat is very competent and responsive.
Other than that, the game is high level.
Music really remind me of returnal a lot.
Run pretty great on pc for now.
Good to hear, althought i heard that you get very powerful very fast so the progression is not well balanced, hopefully they were wrong.Game is becoming much harder on hard once you reached rank 2 ennemies (which you start to get once you reach the lake). I am getting pounded in the later maps.
I get that, that's why im still interested. But not at full price. The combat in this game is not the focus. Once you play a few hours, you'll realize that the focus of the game is exploration and puzzle solving
Yeah I have not found the way to break the game yet, actually combat is starting to get very hard. I should try to dive deeper into the upgradesGood to hear, althought i heard that you get very powerful very fast so the progression is not well balanced, hopefully they were wrong.
Combat is mechanically sound but if zero challenge and only 5 type of enemies with no bosses is true, that's definitely a flaw hard to ignore, i hope i don't get soured by this the more i play because usually those are 2 big cardinal sins for me.I get that, that's why im still interested. Combat is my number one concern in any game.
Not sure demo progress transfers to the main game though, you might wanna check on thatMy copy will arrive tomorrow. Meanwhile I can max out demo area lol.
It does not: at least it did not give me the option to when I started the game. Not sure demo progress transfers to the main game though, you might wanna check on that
This is not a Souls game or anything like that: there is combat yes but this is absolutely not the focus on the game, dont worry. Also if you max all the difficulty slider there is definitely some challenge imo (I finish all my games in hardest difficulty and I never had trouble with Souls like game for reference)Combat is mechanically sound but if zero challenge and only 5 type of enemies with no bosses is true, that's definitely a flaw hard to ignore, i hope i don't get soured by this the more i play because usually those are 2 big cardinal sins for me.

I'm already playing the game with all the difficulty sliders up dude, i was not really askingI bought Silksong after years of eagerly waiting to play it. I also bought Hell is Us.
Guess what? I only want to play Hell is Us. This game is absolutely mesmerizing and I just can't let it go. Phenomenal writing, production values, game design and atmosphere. I am in absolute awe!

I did not like the combat much at first but I started to unlock perks and other tools and now I really enjoy it.
But really, combat feels like a secondary part of the game : think about Zelda, not FS or even Action-oriented RPGs.
I'm taking notes on my phone to remember all the place where i have to return.
BTW, Steam has integrated notes now in their overlay
Steam overlay can cause problems with some games so it's off by default, i do my best to close everything that can cause problems.
It's one of the default things to try when you troubleshoot for problems in games, like the administrator thing, the fullscreen thing and the w8 compatibility thing.Uh, I can't recall a time where i got issues with steam overlay. Will keep in mind.
I take it you're not a Chess fan then?I read that there are about 5 enemy types...

7/10 appears a bit harsh given the positive but still that's ok.Finished it and damn near 100% on my first try. Took my sweet ass time, around 50h.
+ Health regen mechanic from Bloodborne and stamina regen mechanic from Ni-Oh, although not new, works perfectly in the game
+ Performance and graphics are great and best of all; extremely clean (PS5 Pro)
+ Combat feels and plays impactful. Every hit with your weapon really does feel like it's striking and slicing the enemy, while getting hit feels similarly
+Every time you discover new info that's related to old stuff, they add that new piece of information with white text (instead of the regular green), so you know exactly what to look after. It's QOL that saves so much time
+ Zones are neither too big or too small
+ I'm an advocate for "no maps, no markers", but usually when there's an option to toggle them off, the game's usually not designed after it. Hell is Us is truly designed around the whole idea of you being lost in the world
+ Equipment and gear choices feel impactful
+ Cyberpunk / Synthwave / Dark Synth OST unbelievably good
+ The SFX all-around is 10/10. And I'm not exclusively talking about the sound of rain or the ambience in caves... no, the SFX when hitting enemies and QTE them is orgasmic
+ Full transparency what everything does in terms of damage, defense etc from skills, weapons, upgrades etc
+ As soon as a certain companion NPC was introduced, I thought to myself "here we go, we'll have dialogue between these two non-stop. So much for echo-silence". Alas, I was so wrong.
+ Bosses are so fun and different, but there's only a few of them!
- Difficulty is on the easier side 80% of the game, ramps up drastically near the end though (hardest difficulty, max sliders)
- Main character design
- I really, really don't like the characters in this game. They're all stiff, very ugly and overall not interesting
- The gameplay loop, although fantastic, became exhausting after around 35 hours. The positive thing is that the game isn't bloating itself with huge worlds so it doesn't drag out too much
- Enemy variety is lacking
7/10
I really, really hope this game becomes a success and that we can enjoy even more from this team
It's because media and especially forums poisoned our minds, 7\10 is a good game.7/10 appears a bit harsh given the positive but still that's ok.
Agree with you, the game has fantastic elements but feels more like a first draft in some parts (which it is and that is totally fine) which could however lead to an awesome follow up if the team finds success and can continue digging into what they are doing here.

Thank you. This is exactly it.It's because media and especially forums poisoned our minds, 7\10 is a good game.
Most 8-9 games are really 7\10 when you can list all the flaws analitically without biases.
