It's "fake", but not really fake. Just a sleight of hand after the shooting so that the roommate can suggest they weren't aware or an accomplice to murder.

He could be the fall guy for an entire group that was in on this. It wouldn't really surprise me.

At first he talked like that and then he started talking normally at the end. In his mind he was making some kind of grand romantic gesture, perhaps with a dash of heroism. This guy was faaar removed from reality. I don't even.
 
Sounds like he was radicalized in the furry trans circles on social media/discord after all. Seems to me a dumb kid with a identity crisis, coming to terms with being gay in a mostly conservative environment, turning to the internet and becoming increasingly disillusioned and resentful of the homophobic rhetoric from conservatives. Sounds like he heard about CK coming to his home town a week prior, and being familiar with shooting rifles and the terrain and it's many vantage points; Realized a huge oversight in security and thought it would grant him the opportunity to get away with it. Seems like he also carved the bullets before he intended to kill CK? Could be wrong.

Because apparently there's at least six instances in social media where LGBTQ posters said 'something big going to happen tmrw' the day before the shooting. So the shooter could conspire with other people and but left his boyfriend out of this

So I hope they don't give even a shred of benefit of the doubt or clemency to the roommate.

And I agree that texts could just as easily be a kind of farce to create the narrative that the rommate didn't know. It should be considered just as likely that he did until we have all data available from all communications around him.
