Now there's a classic deflection: "It's not that I made up a heinous lie based on my close-minded thoughts and broadcasted it as fact, it's that you all misinterpreted it. Yes, it's not me but the millions of people who listened to what I said that are mistaken".

When asked by THR, the source said that Kimmel was not planning on apologizing. He felt that what he said did not require an apology.

Not only is Elon's tweet false (Hasan and destiny regularly debate conservatives for example), but also we gotta stop pretending that this recent culture of YouTube debating is not about generating drama for clicks, "dunking" on your opponent, and moral grandstanding. There are actual scholars debating these issues all the time, but nobody cares about them because you can't clip them to signal moral authority and 1up the other side.

Yeah doing it for clout is, at least imo, not really debating. Debating should never be about dunking on someone.

The FCC broadcast license in the US actually does stipulate 'acting in the public interest' and openly broadcasting blatant lies of this nature is completely against the public interest

The FCC would have been completely justified in pursuing Disney and ABC for this because once your network is broadcasting blatantly false propaganda it's most definitely not acting in the public interest

I'd consider them, well, Destiny at least as part of these debate circles along with TheSerfs and Vaush. I've never seen any of them out in public debating like Charlie, Cam Higby, Crowder. There are some people like Planet Peterson, but they seem to focus more on debating the religious and flat earthers.

ABC probably wanted an out on their late night show just like CBS. This was just a good excuse to pull the plug early.

Jimmy is still on some other show. America's Got Talent or whatever he's on.

Of course that is not true. At that time many of the critics turned out to be completely right and were arguing for the best interests of the US. Luckily, the mistake was admitted 20+ years later and everyone learned their lesson ...

Remember like Elon said, words are not violence. Unless it's saying nazi, fascist, Hitler, disagreeing with the current theory in this assassination plot or saying inaccurate things as a comedian. Then its open season.

Yeah and what Charlie Kirk did was simply go to a college campus, set up a table, sit there with a mic, and have another mic facing him that anyone could walk up to and talk to him freely and without any restrictions

In the early days, maybe like 1 or 2 people would walk up to him and ask him who he was and what this was about. He was completely obscure at the start, and drew little interest. But slowly but surely, people started noticing. He started to draw small crowds, which were mostly hostile early on because you know college campuses are super liberal

There was no one else anywhere doing anything like that, and after a decade of doing it he managed to build the largest conservative youth organization in the US and by the end he was drawing crowds of thousands to every event. Over the years, gradually the crowds became more and more friendly to him and in the last few years hundreds of people were showing up wearing the now familiar red MAGA hats

He was building a real movement, the first movement which ever actually stood up to the educational brainwashing complex that is the modern American university. And now we know they decided they had to do to him in order to stop him

I mean that's not really a normal format of debating. Could be completely making shit up here, but I feel like that started in the early 2010s w/ Steven Crowder who is the King Shit Starter, showing up to liberal campuses and forcing 18-20 libtards to say stupid shit that lines up with their beliefs. He prob ruffled a few feathers doing that, they probably told him you can't keep harassing our stupids but you are allowed to reserve a booth and people can choose to engage with you. That got popular along with the trend for people to want to watch people "DEMOLISH this libtard" on YouTube, and CK perfected and the whole process and made it a mainstream brand.

It really isn't though. And the more nuance you look into, the more it's obvious he was a leftist. Hell, the more you look into it, it's becoming more and more likely it was planned and carried out by a leftist activist group.

That is an extremely vauge rule and can be interpreted as broadly as anyone wants too. What and who defines "public interest"?
 
It's probably smart for South Park to hold off releasing an episode till some of the heat dies down.
