Because sometimes you have to fight for what you think is just?
I have a friend at work from Somalia, hardest working dude I know. Works 12 hours shifts almost every single day. We live in a very affluent, very conservative area, and he says he gets pulled over all the time. I would think that's annoying. I drove without a license for almost 2 years because I was too lazy to get a new one after I lost it and never got pulled even once. He says he doesn't mind at all, in fact he is happy to show them his papers and show them he has nothing to hide. Because, in his own words, "in my country they do not stop and ask you questions, they just shoot you in the head"
I understand where he's coming from.
But is it fair to some young black kid who's getting pulled over all the time for his skin color, despite being on his way to school, work, normal stuff? I don't think so. And eventually you catch one of those kids at a bad time and he gets fed up with this perceived injustice, next thing cop loses control of situation and somebody ends up killed. It's hard to tell that black kid "just comply until things get better" when they've been dealing with it their whole life, and I agree, it's not fair. I just wish people could be more sympathetic, I duno, I'm rambling
And what does all of what you and me said have to do with laughing at a guy shot and killed on stage, and some people egging it on saying it should be done to similar political people? That's what this thread is really based on. So people are pissed at Kirk so the correct action is kill the guy on stage and cheer about it? And now you know why people think low brow people causing trouble are total losers who cant get their life straight. You dont do that shit.
You can tell it's such a bad event, even some die hard liberals like Jamie Lee Curtis even cried. But, you still get lots of people ragging about it making fun.
And as for complying, just comply. Someone is asking for trouble trying to get into foot chases or wrestling matches with cops. Am I saying there's zero chance of rogue cops? Of course not. But I guarantee you there's more messed up people causing trouble than cops and border guards spread thin. So in terms of pure numbers really if any side is going to go protesting it should be cops and law abiding citizens getting back at troublemakers in a bad way. But you dont do that either.
How come when I got speeding and parking tickets in the past, and even got grilled by the feds over a real estate deal getting audited asking for like $7,000 payback I dont freak out. Sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong. Just plead your case back and things will resolve. If I wanted to I could had called back the person at Revenue Canada (they give you their name and personal contact number) telling her to fuck off. Nope, I got my paperwork organized, sent it all back to her and the amount owning was reduced to like $2,000 as she agreed with my extra paperwork. I made a mistake on my end too. Who cares. We worked together and got it done and an amount agreed upon. Paid and never heard a thing again for 8 years. Case closed. Why is that so hard to do? And I even spent a good day finding all my files, photocopying it and sending it back in a big parcel on my own dime.
When I said I'd get by smoothly across borders, do you really think I meant I just stroll on in? You get grilled for passport, get asked questions, a couple times I got my bags searched, and one time our car going over to Buffalo the border guard some reason wanted to check the trunk like were crooks smuggling drugs or something. And all we were doing was trying to watch a Sabres game. How come every time I have to wait in giant lines and get grilled like a second class citizen just to cross over I dont freak out. But still smooth given the mandatory checks. It's stupid because my file should show I've never caused trouble going to the US, but still get the same crap each time. No need to go nuts. Just follow directions.
Dont cause trouble and it de-escalates. If someone causes a commotion, that just draws more attention and more cops/security coming by to join in.
I'm not saying there's never injustices, but cooler heads should prevail.
