Ghost of Yotei |OT| Jin there, done that

So. Are people finally understanding how important RTGI is?
No. I'm just playing the game and enjoying it to be honest with you without stopping every 5 minutes to look at my frames or my rays.

I started on the spectrum with colour clash, As long as the game is good I couldn't give a fuck.

Out of the tutorial I'm pretty much fucked on lethal, for enemies use attacks now that can't be blocked.
Nevertheless, my determination to persevere is still strong.
Dying several times dueling a bounty hunter finally triggered 'fed up wolfi' who mauled my opponent to death within the blink of an eye. There is always a way!
Gonna have to rely on stealth and upgrades before getting a hold on the combat system :messenger_bicep::messenger_sun:

Forgot how crisp the controls are for this game, the sword combat is just spectacular. That sensation of feeling like a badass straight out of the tutorial is so refreshing in this current era.

While AC Shadows does more from a technical perspective, the combat is just floaty janky crap compared to the Ghost series.

I have to agree on the praise of the open world, for now it feels pretty organic how you find stuff.

I have to find some skill points, i need the roll and the falling save roll, the big cunts with the axe are a nightmare to fight without roll, the normal evade just doesn't cut it against them and atsu take damage with any little fall.

After heavenly strike, those were the first two skills I got. They are amazing. Getting down from high points is so nice with the saving roll.

Before release I didn't think Atsu was as ugly as some people were saying. But that face she makes when you start a duel...

It's funny how she IS canonically ugly 'non conventionally attractive', though. At least one character has mentioned her lack of chin, and even Atsu has said something like "I can't help my face" which got a good laugh out of me.

I actually don't think she is ugly but she is not pretty either. It's something in between which I am okay with. I dont understand why some people need to play with a pretty doll to be able to enjoy a game. That being said, when you have characters like MJ in the first Spiderman which she was good looking, and you make her ugly on purpose in the sequel to pursue your own political agendas then I have a problem with that.

Am I doing something wrong or is every fight just a matter of heavy attack constantly until the enemy is staggered and then light after after light attack after?

The dev did a great job with the facial expression imo, but after seeing the 2D artwork in the menu, I wish the created a face more resemble of the artwork, the art work looks even more bad ass, looks like Takeshi Inoue Vagabond. I don't really understand why the need of real person face. Like Tlou2, Ellie and Joel looks better than char based on real actors.

What difficulty? I know if I spam any attack I get owned. Maybe one on one with a basic enemy you can get away with that on hard, otherwise I need to deflect and/or dodge constantly.

Alright so I'm like 15 hours in and the game has started to crash excessively and for no apparent reason. Thankfully the game autosaves very often so I haven't lost any progress, but I have no idea what is causing it to happen. Got no results on Twitter but I did find this Reddit thread about the game causing PS5s to shut down, but that's not what's happening to me. The game just crashes at random moments (sometimes while afk in the pause menu) and then the PS5Pro asks me to submit a crash report.

Hopefully Sucker Punch fixes it ASAP because it's very annoying
"Thank you for paying full price to beta test our game!"

It's a single player game, no reason to buy at launch.
Wait at least 6 months for the game to go gold, you might even get it cheaper on sale then.

Now, after maybe 8h, the game feels a tad too easy on default difficulty. I'm a Tsushima veteran with 3 playthroughs and a platinum so I kinda regret startin with so easy difficulty. Have you all started with hard/lethal or maybe custom?

Normal. Unless i'm taking on more than 3 enemies at the same time it's literally all I have to do.

Seems there's a significant difficulty gap between normal and hard then.

Custom. Hard enemies and medium timing windows. It's been a challenge for 20 hours. Perfect to me so far.

Yeah, since I just finished the first game on hard, I didn't even try normal because I remember it feeling very casual in the first game.

Any tips before I start later today? Managed to grab this for 52€ yesterday in Amazon Spain.

Ended up doing a platinum on the original and played it again on the director's cut on the PS5, looking forward to it

That's absolutely the approach I take for Ubisoft games, but Sony first party games are usually pretty stable so that wasn't a reason for me to wait.

The last time a game crashed this much for me was Battlefield 4 on PS4, which was a notoriously buggy port at launch. This game, on the other hand, seems to only crash for a select number of players - I can barely find anyone else talking about it. That one Reddit thread was all I got, and there's nothing on Twitter.

For all I know it could be a hardware problem, but I have to wait and see what happens with the next update.

Try restoring licenses or deleting and reinstalling then.

I know Sony games are usually stable, but even looking at the original GoT, there were a good 2-3 months of patches fixing things.

I've done all the troubleshooting steps, unfortunately. Rebuilding database, reinstalling the game, moving it to a different hard drive, you name it. Just reset the PS5 completely overnight and gonna give the game a shot again shortly. Wish me luck :messenger_grinning_smiling:

One thing I don't understand is that whenever wildlife interact with the water (such as a flock of birds) there is a really nice rippling effect, yet there is very little effect when Atsu is in the water. It's a bit odd.

Yeah, not a high bar

Ive mentioned this cause I've hated Spider-Man 2, GOW Ragnarok, Horizon FW etc.

So it's a huge surprise that I'm enjoying this as much as I am

Sony games are story focused and they've all dropped the ball this gen, except this one. So maybe that's the reason why I enjoying it.
To me DS2 and this are the best sequels from sony. The rest was a letdown compared to their first game

Lethal.

Hard as nails at the beginning, it get progressively easier if it is like tsushi.

AC is such a jewel graphically. But Jesus if it's disappointing as game 😞 even Starwar Outlaw is a league ahead.

Lethal. Had to turned down to hard because the boss keep 1 shot me.

Without giving too much away, find the storyteller. He'll set you on the path to finding more armour sets. The dye merchants only offer different styles for those you own.

I meant regular outfits, not armour specifically.

In Tsushima you started with Jin's broken samurai armour but extremely early you got the traveler's garb and clan Masako samurai armour. Traveler's garb especially was super cool with the cape flowing in the wind.

I've been playing Yōtei for about six hours and still only have the default outfit.

Not absolutely sure tbh. I have 3 outfits currently, one of which has changed appearance each time I've upgraded it. I've not yet found anywhere to purchase outfits.

Same here. I haven't found a single armor

While the story started a bit slow for me, it is growing immensly as it unfolds. I really like this game.

As to the difficulty setting, I played on lethal for the most part but have changed to hard now (which suits me really well). The difference between lethal and hard is primarily whether you can be one-shotted or not (in particular in duels or in named encounters).

What a great game.

Every time I enter a new region I'm in awe at how beautiful and different it is to the others. Then I just get lost in exploring the side content that I don't even focus on the main story.

In a time where a lot of exclusives end up being worse than the games before (e.g Spider-Man 2 and GoW Ragnarok) i'm glad this ended up improving everything Tsushima did well.

I never played GoT so this is good to hear. I'm picking up Yotei today and not waiting for the PC release.

I find the default HDR a bit dark. It was the same issue with the first game. I have the console settings properly calibrated. Its too dark at default 50 in dark areas, but looks a bit washed out sometimes at 60. Maybe at 55 it would be good, but thats not an option

Only played the first 30 minutes or so, but the story hook is more for me than Tsushima. I like the idea of hunting down the Six and Atsu's story so far. Obviously it's very early days, but so far so good.

Oh and anyone saying that this is only a slight step up graphically from Tsushima is insane. I've been playing Tsushima on PC ultra settings all week and Yotei looks a lot better in my opinion. Everything from lighting to the way leaves move around the players feet are really impressive. The sound is top tier stuff too. It immediately felt like a bigger budget production and the ride towards the mountain was 👌

Just got back from a trip out of town and immediately popped this game in my base PS5.

What a banger of an opening! Already got me invested in Atsu and the plot. Dualsense feels amazing in my hands and the RT lighting looks awesome even tho I have to tolerate 30fps for it. Japanese dub is excellent and the audio design is superb.

I could gush for days about the HDR here - using "Dramatic" contrast makes the inky blacks paired with wide range of colors looks sublime on an OLED.

I was a big fan of the first game, although there was plenty of room for improvement. Very excited to binge this game for the weekend

So I was watching Asmongold playing GoY and wondered why this hot person wasn't the main character instead.

And the woman to the right is pretty hot too.
