Ghost of Yotei |OT| Jin there, done that

Now, after maybe 8h, the game feels a tad too easy on default difficulty. I'm a Tsushima veteran with 3 playthroughs and a platinum so I kinda regret startin with so easy difficulty. Have you all started with hard/lethal or maybe custom?
You can always switch. Lethal is the way…

Never said a female MC is a woke element, the ability to kill hundred of better trained and physcaly strong men on 1v1 combat is the woke element.
What a retarded arguement. It's unrealistic sure, but it would be unrealistic no matter the gender of the protagonist. It's like saying Kill Bill is woke because an assassin who happens to be a woman kills a ton of trained killers in the scene with Lucy Liu. It's a power fantasy, it isn't supposed to be realistic.

I have four suits in 20 hours and am missing several.

I went back to the first area because I only revealed like 1/4 of the map. Just found out you can jump off your horse and kick a guy off of his. Awesome.

I was thinking about it but I love doing full tempest combos with the dual blades and watching the blood fly. How many hits can enemies take on lethal?
Early on, usually 2-3 hits. Still too early in the game to tell how that changes with armored enemies. If you are enjoying hard, try custom where everything is lethal except enemy damage on hard.

Got my copy today, Gamefly is on FIRE this year with 2-day deliveries. I hope they continue this shit for the foreseeable future.

Also, isn't modern gaming fantastic? Insert disc, now wait 1 whole hour before starting the game. For many people, they can probably just download the fucking thing faster than this.

Today is the day. I can feel it.

Does lethal boost player damage too? It's not an option in the custom difficulty sliders so I was just wondering... I'd like the gameplay to be at normal but with lethal damage to both player and enemies.

Finally got all the hot springs and I'm pleasantly surprised that Sucker Punch kept the same reward as in Tsushima.

Keeping this look for the rest of the game:

Just remember that every single 'woke' controversy for this game was for things that were not part of the game itself.
The actress' own personal beliefs, the developer that got fired, other female protagonists being considered bad so this one will be as well, etc.
Sure, it's fine to be cautious on anything by your own principles, but people were already writing this off over nothing.

Nobody should buy a game from Sony (or anybody) on Day 1 in 2025. The reason this "caution" is warranted is entirely THEIR fault. It only takes the community 24 hours with a game to discover the horse shit and if it's there I'm NOT buying it. Period.

I can't even agree that buying it on Friday night can be called "cautious". Kind of a laugh. Just a check. 20 years ago I wanted that game IMMEDIATELY, but they killed that for me - I didn't. It's just nice that you can get reasonable assurances so fast that you're not buying a propaganda piece unwittingly.

I just switched aggression to lethal. It's awesome. Getting sucker punched(lol) like crazy.

That's exactly what lethal does by default. But if you want everything else on normal, try enemy damage on lethal while keeping the rest at lower settings. Hopefully that affects player damage too

Cool Story but who gives a fuck about all that?

People just wanna play a good game. Lets not pretend like we all care about the woke shit.

That will never stop me from playing a good game.

Will continue to preorder games and play em day1

The only thing that's a laugh is your post. You sound pretty miserable with this derp ass story.

People will do what they please with their hard earned money. We're just having a lot of fun with the game and not even thinking of politics.

Damn Bounty Master Set is great for duels, you can only perfect parry but your parry window is up by major amount and you get 3 additional counterattacks which is actually insane plus all spirit gains up by MASSIVE amounts.

I remember ghost of tsushima had a similar Set.

Just one cool little detail I noticed while playing just now. If you kill someone in a stream there's a pool of blood that happens and then a blood streak in the water that flows downstream and dissipates.
Not sure if that's just a Miike mode thing or what but cool little detail.

I need you guys to convince me to purchase this shit. I am really struggling about to buy or not to buy this crap.

Without any spoilers, how is the story progressing in this in comparison to Shadows? And is the gameplay better in a meaningful way than got?

I hated Tsushima.

This is better in every way.

From production values (actually feels like a first party game now) to gameplay

Gameplay-wise, I think Shadows is stronger. Stealth is more refined, you can crawl, hide in different places, and the parkour and climbing feel more dynamic, giving you more options when facing enemies. That said, combat is where GOY really shines: it feels punchy and visceral, with crisp, smooth animations and far less clunkiness. The camera can be a bit wonky at times, but it's not a major issue.

In terms of writing, story, open world, and side quests, GOY is vastly superior. Ubisoft's recent titles have struggled with narrative and character depth, so this isn't too surprising.

Visually, Shadows is the winner though. While GOY has some great environments, it falls short in technical areas like geometry, textures, wonky lighting and NPC quality.

Finally, in terms of fun factor, Yotei starts a little slow but becomes more enjoyable the deeper you get into it. If you don't mind a game that still feels like a PS4 title on steroids, I would say it's worth your time or at least a rental like I did.

I haven't played AC, so I'll nominate the following people who I know have played to weigh in:

Inviusx Inviusx Arsic Arsic GymWolf GymWolf

I have a PSA for those that have a bit of trouble with the camera during fights,if you change control layout to alternative in settings, you basically change the attacks to R1 and R2, this makes moving the camera with the joystick far easier. Another good option is to set the camera speed to fast.

Give it a try

Regarding story progression, I'd say GOY is leagues ahead of AC Shadows. But that depends upon your thoughts on my next point, and whether you take to Atsu or not.

You never feel too far away from any meaningful progress in GOY, whereas in AC Shadows the map is so vast in comparison that it can take hours to make any meaningful progress. If you have a short attention span like myself, AC Shadows can outstay its welcome fairly soon.

In GOY each weapon you find has its own little story, as do most of the armour sets. There's always an interesting mission off the beat and track, and they never take too long to complete.

Personally, I find GOY more engaging as a game in general, but I'd say it's personal preference really.

Yeah, not a high bar

Ive mentioned this cause I've hated Spider-Man 2, GOW Ragnarok, Horizon FW etc.

So it's a huge surprise that I'm enjoying this as much as I am

Sony games are story focused and they've all dropped the ball this gen, except this one. So maybe that's the reason why I enjoying it.
same. you've definitely got me interested. thanks for the impressions...

Watanabe mode feels great for free-roaming, and the battle themes are surprisingly good. Kinda makes me want to rewatch Samurai Champloo.

I really appreciate the devs including something like this. I'm feeling torn between leaving it enabled or just sticking to the default music for my initial "purist" playthrough

On the fence with this game. Are there new elements added to the combat?

It's way better for me. Everything feels more polished. Then when you even think about getting bored with a weapon a new one is introduced. I'm still missing one(two?) of them but even just being able to switch between 3 is a blast.

Yeah, I just took these before your post cause I noticed the same thing. Very cool. The second one doesn't have as much but that was a fresh stab.
