So Jimbo went all in on GaaS not because Fortnite or Warzone, He did it because...Forza Street(a mobile game) and Bleeding Edge? And these were announced
- Minecraft Earth
- Bleeding Edge
- Forza Street
- Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Halo Infinite
- Age of Empires IV
- Forza Motorsport
What was Xbox big GaaS in 2019-2021 that made Jim Ryan approve 20 something GaaS ?
That would definitely be a huge incentive to buy ps6 if u are pc owner currently.
That could be just a new indicator for the feature, in 3rd party games too. I dunno, really.
And I'm sure cross-buy is just for portable PS, just like low-powered mode.
I don't believe this. Not because I don't want it to happen, but because I can't imagine Sony doing something that could benefit consumers.
No clue in all honestyWhat is your best guess on this?
There's no guessing. It means they have a PC store coming. You can't do cross-buy on other people's stores. What is your best guess on this?
To be fair, the order is reversed. What goes around, comes around.

My question was:
Entire slate...

This is the internet.I wonder if we are getting ahead of ourselves.
In all likely hood it is more for PS6 and the PS6 HandheldQuestion. How do we know these are connected? It looks like it could be PS5/PC (which they already do) and Cross buy separately for the PS5/PS6/rumored handheld. Do we know cross buy is for PC? It could be but I wonder if we are getting ahead of ourselves.
That would make sense. They only will have a few games optimized to run in low power mode.In all likely hood it is more for PS6 and the PS6 Handheld
In turn which would mean only a few games could have the cross buy tagThat would make sense. They only will have a few games optimized to run in low power mode.
I will be a little disappointed because I have had to make the choice between PC/PS5 before but I believe you're right. I would hope most (all) titles between the PS6/PS6 handheld will be cross buy.In all likely hood it is more for PS6 and the PS6 Handheld
Sony just launchedf PS5-less cloud streaming that is avaliable on PS so it could easily be about that.Question. How do we know these are connected? Not sure how cloud streaming means cross buySony just launchedf PS5-less cloud streaming that is avaliable on PS so it could easily be about that.
But GAF fonna GAF.
I would imagine it's mandated for PS6 games, like Series S was. It'll be the older ones that studios have to get incentivized to go back and do.I will be a little disappointed because I have had to make the choice between PC/PS5 before but I believe you're right. I would hope most (all) titles between the PS6/PS6 handheld will be cross buy.
I've been saying this for a while now. It really shouldn't be that hard.Really wish we could get Games Anywhere like Movies Anywhere.
Cross-buy could be about portable, PS5/PC could be about cloud. Not sure how cloud streaming means cross buy
Sony wouldn't mandate that all, every single old PS PSN games must be on PC PSN. Can't do that due to licensing issues, specially with companies who bankrupted or movies/sports teams/cars/etc licenses that expired etc. That's something that would be needed to be done with thousands of companies of games already released in PSN, and in many cases even if 3rd party devs/publishers have the rights to re-release old games won't want to spend any effort in some old ones because wouldn't be profitable for them, so won't do it.Even if Sony mandated any new games must have a PC version, and that it's included with the PS version (which itself is insane), how can they retroactively 1) make all past titles work on PC, and 2) make it legal? They will need a new agreement and maybe even new version for EVERY SINGLE OLD GAME for this to happen. Would it be great, of course but it seems like an insurmountable nightmare.
That makes sense. Blaming it on xbox when they didn't have any successfulGaaS at the time is weird. They went all in on GAAS because PS+ and their cut of third party GAAS is easily the majority of revenue.
You don't buy games for the Portal. It just plays your current library.Cross-buy could be about portable, PS5/PC could be about cloud.
Those icons are not bound together, you know.
Yeah, the way to total console irrelevanceXbox leading the way, as always.
I can already see it.
They launch their own thing, pull all games from Steam like EA did and then come back to Steam 10 years later, because no one on PC cared.
Best case scenario: they simply add the game to your Steam or PS library if you have linked your accounts. I could see the cross buy version be more expensive as well.
Sony already puts their games on PC though. And doing so by putting their games into other ecosystem they have zero control over.
A PC storefront with Cloud integration only strengthens Sony's ecosystem.
Hardware has a limit, when a Cloud only user buys games from Sony PC store and streams them, they're joining Playstation ecosystem. Once they build enough of a library, and they decide to buy hardware in the future, a PlayStation Console becomes no brainer for them. Same goes for xCloud users buying Xbox hardware.
These are extensions of their ecosystem where Sony gets 100% of the revenues. Putting games onto Steam isn't helping their ecosystem at all.
I still have a PS5, but won't ever purchase anything stuck on that system since I'll be moving to PC. No reason to. If they make it crossbuy, I'd likely get Intergalactic and the Barlog game day 1. I would rather give money to Sony for a game they make then give 30% of it to Valve for literally no reason. At least they make games.I think it would be more that games launch on steam 12 months or so after the ps store release.
That's fine with me. I'd be one of the peeps buying from the Sony store to run on my playstation devices.
My PlayStation's will still be purchased and used in spare rooms etc then I can enjoy their games on my pc as well, hopefully day one.
They would actually gain more purchases from someone like myself, I think, someone who has used Xbox play anywhere for most games. Especially the Sega games. Atlus etc.
But if more people buy their games, if more people buy their subscriptions, etc...they would make more money...if it's not on steam. I just think that a PS launcher will happen sooner or later. And the incentive will be using your PS Plus subscription and cross-buying games between PS and PC. Maybe day one for PC will be on their launcher only and steam will keep getting the games years later, who knows.
Something along those lines.
It's not about beating Valve. It's about retaining the digital library lock in. They have 100 million customers they can lock in and keep it that way. Xbox wants to try and keep 30 million locked in. It's still worth something. The problem is, Sony can't beat Steam on PC. It's literally impossible. It's a non-winnable fight. They are 15 years behind, with no way to catch up at all. Plus Valve is a privately held company and that has its advantages over Sony being publicly owned.
