Did Sony already lose next gen with PS6 before it even started?

I'd say it pretty obvious Sony will crush numbers next Gen in comparison to MS. Why? The great unwashed love and know PlayStation, bolstered by pricing that is likely to be more attractive vs Xbox - the choice is simple.

Those that care about steam and epic store on their console would be pc gamers and reluctant Xbox brand loyalists. The console gamer cares little for that. The Xbox will compete with pc being one itself.

Legit question:
Do you people think we will always have dedicated hardware instead of games just being on your screen in other ways?
If we reach that point, why would people stick with sony's launcher /service?
No not always. But won't happen soon.

Cloud Gaming is already growing at a much bigger growth rate than most people on forums or gaming circles admit.

Check out this comparison, then tell me if that level of image quality isn't good enough for the casuals. 1440/60 at 30 Mbit Bitrate, or 1080/60 at 20 Mbit Bitrate, and anything below 30 ms ping makes for a very similar experience to buying a Series S console or PS6 Canis.

Cloud gaming isn't growing at all.
One thing is that the tech is there, and the other that there are really millions of people subscribing for this. They aren't, and probably they won't.

People fucking hate subscriptions, and one of around 9/10 a month is probably their limit. To substitute your expense in hardware and games you would need a 30/40 monthly one, and people won't fall for that.

Are all those people make believe?

So Cloud Gaming isn't growing yet MS built two new massive datacenters in South America just for xcloud for no reason? Sony expanded to PS Portal for no reason at all?

They never give numbers for good reason.

Geoforce Now has a free tier to stream at 1080p (the resolution most PCMR guys play at anyway) , I bet most of those 25 million come from there.

Being free and letting yourself play your Steam games in other devices is nice and all, like the PSPortal now too, but when we speak about streaming gaming it's not exactly that.

For streaming to take over, without you having a PC or PS5 and libraries bought on those that you just stream, we would be speaking of solutions that mostly make dissappear the local hardware. People buying a Portal alone and subscribing to to PSN+ and then buy only digital games, or people subscribing to XCloud or GeoforceNow and through their TV or Firestick buy digital games and stream them.

That's not taking over, no matter how much some desire it. People like to have their local hardware and not depend 100% on the internet connection, quality is very high but still worse than local play, and the elephant in the room, the price. If you have to subscribe and then buy all your digital content, you are paying more than paying for your digital content, and have even less property of it as those games could be removed from the servers one day and you wouldn't even be able to keep a copy in your hard drive.

The console market isn't what it used to be 10 years ago. A standard game system is the only thing Sony has going on for themselves while their games are being released on other systems.
MS on the the other hand has a 2 for 1 game system/ PC hybrid that will play ALL you games.
Nintendo is Nintendo.
