Could Nex (Nex Playground) become a threat in the home console space?

Out of curiosity, how many people are we talking here?

Like 12 people is "people" but its also a tiny insignificant number of sales
Huh? It just outsold the top SKU of PS5 in the week before Black Friday this is also a month after Xbox collaborated with ASUS and released the ROG Aly X

I doubt it. It's a nice toy that people will eventually get bored of. For reference see Wii and Kinect. Actually worse, as those platforms had something to offer outside of the party and social living room games.

Well overpriced, Sky Glass in the UK had an add-on kinect style camera and all of those 5 games were available, and they just turned the service off and refunded people for the camera because it's just not something they could bring more games to, i think it's probably the exact same system

lol. My brother bought one of these for my nephew. I didn't realize how the business model worked at the time though. But yeah it's just a slew of Kinect like kid friendly games.

Highly doubtful.
Never heard of it, never seen it, never seen a video or review or even screenshot of a game. Must be some cheap ass local US toy device for kids.

a threat no, but it can sell a lot and have its place, new generations of kids have no idea what a Kinect or Wii is , they dont have any concept of that, so something like this is completely new for them and probably fun, and obviously this is perfect for parents who actually remember the motion gaming era

its a trend like any other, it will comback eventually, maybe with this shitbox or in an other way, Nintendo already has the camera, Sony and Ms with their experience can shit out something quickly and easily if the trend really comeback

I wasn't very impressed after watching this video. It looks like a device you play for a few hours and then put aside. I also noticed some issues with motion tracking. The games feel more like mini games, and the fact that they're locked behind a subscription is another problem(90 dollars a year for showelvare? lol).

I have a Wii and we can still have a great time with it, so I don't understand why the whole motion control thing was never really loved. If it were cheaper and I could buy the games for a lower price, I'd consider getting one, but for now I'm just keeping an eye on it. Beat Saber-like game doesn't look bad, though. I would love to see something similar on switch.

Ok, I made some research, this thing is what Xbox has spent 15 years trying to build (except for the base specs).

- Motion gamin
- Subscription only access to games
- Hardware that "doesn't matter" (as MS said with the xbone).

Where MS missed the mark is by trying to shoe horn this model into the wrong target audience.

The 100% subs model works because their games are cheap motion games, and their target audience doesn't care.

Still, imagine buying this for a 4 years old kid... The kid may play for 5 years or so, so it would cost 250 + (90 * 5) = 700$ and unlike the old NES, when you put it in storage all your kids will have when they get a hint of nostalgia when they grow up is the box with the 5 built in games (assuming it doesn't require an online connection for those).
