Shame you didn't skip this comment.looking forward to skipping this again
PoE 2 is super dark and gritty dude, exactly how a dark Gothic rpg style should be. What are you talking about? Yeah, there are a few colorful areas and that's fine, but they are consistent ans they make sense with how they are placed. Awoved just seems a mix of everything everywhere without any sort of artistic cohesion. It's literally the PoE 2 art style but in 3D.
This new fascination with labeling colorful things as 'woke' is so weird. Y'all wanna go back to 2005-2008 where everything was a shade of grey?
I guess the closest example I can give is how Fallout changed from 2 to 3, same world, same art but just viewed in a 3D world, might not be as 'complex' in its RPG mechanics but it's far from just being a brawler/action game.
Pillars of Eternity 2. The same setting as Avowed.PoE 2 is super dark and gritty dude, exactly how a dark Gothic rpg style should be. What are you talking about? I think he saw PoE and thought Path of Exile.I think you might be mixing up PoE 1 and 2. 2 is basically in isometric visuals what Avowed is, and Avowed isn't all colorful areas either, like you mentioned in your post, it has areas with muted color tones etc. The colors intensify as the fungal infection effecting the world increases.
Ok this make sense. When someone says PoE 2 I don't think of Pillars of Eternity at all. I was very confused.Pillars of Eternity 2. The same setting as Avowed.
I was very confused by this post because Pillars of Eternity 2 is actually full of color between the Caribbean / Pacific Islands / Colonial inspiration. Now I understand the "PoE" confusion.PoE 2 is super dark and gritty dude, exactly how a dark Gothic rpg style should be. What are you talking about? The balls to say shit like this with a Dino Riders pfp. I love it.It's good that unoriginal slop announces itself loudly on the cover.

I am talking about this.
Regarding the bolded, does Avowed have that or not?Going by the OT, most who actually played it enjoyed the gameplay. It's a 7 or 8 depending on how much you value having a living interactive world.
For me the combat is probably the best one yet in the genre for first person perspective. Dodging, block and parry, jumping and grabbing ledges, power attacks, special abilities. Everything felt spot-on mechanically and very tight.
it does not.Regarding the bolded, does Avowed have that or not?
No it's like a SNES RPG under the pretty surface. NPCs stand on the exact spot day and night and wait for you to walk up to them and you can whack a sword in the counter of shop without anything moving or steal all the stuff infront of the merchant without a reaction.Regarding the bolded, does Avowed have that or not?
I'm ok with a static world, but I have obviously failed to understand your sentence on which is actually the case for Avowed.
Honestly, I find uninspired mediocrity vastly more offending than a game that at least tried something special and then failed.Never understood the hate this game got from some corners. At worst you can say it's rather average, but you'd swear this game was some travesty the way some react to it.
After the failure that was Outer Worlds 2, I guess Obsidian needs to be painting the turd known as Avowed gold.
I wouldn't say it did nothing special. The combat, loot, and exploration is all pretty great. Way better than Tainted Grail. It's just the RPG choices are a bit lackluster and the characters forgettable.Honestly, I find uninspired mediocrity vastly more offending than a game that at least tried something special and then failed.
Avowed seems almost designed by committee, trying nothing special, achieving nothing special.
There are so many better entries in the very same genre, partly at a much lower price, developed for cheaper, too (I very much recommend Tainted Grail)...
Didn't play it and never will. Why would I play a game with dumbed down Skyrim-esque combat, ugly characters, and basic quest systems when I have other more interesting games to play like? That's not including the fact that the developers are loud and proud woke imbeciles. What was your issues with avowed when you played it?
I'll consider it when I give it a go next month.

How do you know that the games from the trailer didnt have static NPC? You saw a fucking arrow and the entrance of a cave....How do you guys coming with this takes that that trailer of 1 minute would have been a masterpiece game. It's crazy that you still cling on that.I would of played the original vision from the 1st trailer, which was Obsidian's singleplayer Skyrim, and there was no mention of multiplayer at the time either, but everything i saw afterwards just kept putting me off more and more in the end, and i didn't like personally what Avowed ended up as, with static NPC's and no fish in the rivers etc. cutprice Skyrim without the actual cheaper price.
I said what it became over time and ended up as, i didn't say i got that from the 1st trailer, learn to read, it's what most people thought when they saw the 1st trailer, SP Skyrim, talk sense. How do you know that the games from the trailer didnt have static NPC? Gameplay is very good. And combat is vastly more enjoyable than Skyrim. Same engine or not. Less interactive physics is a downgrade, sure, but you forget about that pretty quickly.Didn't play it and never will. There's a lot of 'it was never going to be like Skyrim' revisionism around this game for some reason.I said what it became over time and ended up as, i didn't say i got that from the 1st trailer, learn to read, it's what most people thought when they saw the 1st trailer, SP Skyrim talk sense.
Yeah agreed, strangely after Microsoft bought Bethesda lol, a coincidence of course, the 1st trailer was Obsidian's Skyrim, that was the take at the time. It's odd to hear them even talk in terms of disappointing sales when it was obviously priced to encourage people toward Game Pass rather than priced to sell in the first place. Or rather it would be odd if not for this apparent lack of a clear strategy being on brand for MS gaming nowadays.

That cover art is stolen straight from the film Annihilation. Not touching this shit.
i'm really happy with the photo mode addition but i wish it was there at launch. the game has great lighting with hardware lumen

Adam out here getting receipts. I love it.At least he's changed his reason for not playing the game since last August.

Everything is hyperbole nowadays. Avowed isn't a bad game, and the combat is actually awesome. That being said I found everything else just mediocre to the point I didn't finish it.Never understood the hate this game got from some corners. At worst you can say it's rather average, but you'd swear this game was some travesty the way some react to it.

I think it looks fantastic on console with Software Lumen as well.
Some of my screens when I was playing the game in its 40fps Balanced mode.

Lighting in these pictures is literally a generation apart.
If the PS5 pro version at least looks relatively close to this maybe ill give it a chance. I enjoyed outer worlds 2 but the characters sucked balls. Im guessing its the same hereYup
I took sooooo many screenshots of that game but there was always some fucking HUD or UI in them.
My own screenshots

Gorgeous game and is really Pillars of Eternity to 3D as can be.
NG+ run finally, all those neat weapons you get at the end of the game can be used from the start. Enemy respawns also will make backtracking a bit more alive.

Its not first party so i doubt they will bother optimizing for the pro to that extentI hope for PS5 pro owners it has hardware Lumen or looks close to that yes. I don't follow all UE5 games on Pro but any of them had hardware lumen? It should be powerful enough.
