Crimson Desert |OT| We've Got Quest(ion)s

I feel like a retard because I've payed 51€ instead of 48€ and I'm still waiting for my key to be delivered. :goog_relieved:

Bumping this OT just to move that Starfield thread down a notch or two. Petty I know.

Who the fuck is talking about Starfield at a time like this?!?

omg thank you so much, I really have no words!

Oh, by the way, feel free to DM me anytime you want me to check for the key. I know exactly what it feels like to be hyped for this game, trust me. So if the curiosity is killing you, don't hesitate to reach out and I'll take a look for you. It's your Key not mine after all. :messenger_beaming:

Hey stop it! You are too good of a person, you are going to make me feel bad 😜

I hope I'm wrong anyways. But nothing I've seen is particular impressive.
So the flowing water or the water that flows back over itself is not impressive. The detail in the environment at this scale of the map is not impressive. The variety of NPC and the way they behave, for example, at the circus fight scene, is not impressive. The way rain slowly starts to fill little gaps in the pavement which then slowly fades instead of just appearing as 'wet surface' and disappearing after it stopped raining is not impressive. The global illumination and how everything works together, shadow and light, particularly at night when fireballs are flying and lightning is buzzing around, all real time, is not impressive. The physics behind it all...
Nothing impressive to you. Well, sucks to be you in this case. What are your benchmarks or comparisons in your head when looking at crimson desert? Whats impressive to you?

I will find alongside everyone else on March 18. It reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy XV for some reason.

Lil' combat clip (timestamped) showing that normal enemies don't fuck around

I was worried of them being punching bags like in Dynasty Warriors lol.

Bought it on steam. I dont normally preorder 70 dollar games unless I know what im getting myself into at least and so far im just going by videos and man do I hope this turns out to be as good as it looks. It would be the biggest let down in a very long time if it does not play well.

Game wasn't on my radar.

Despite being a showcase for the Pro, it comes across as a poor man's Witcher.

The spaces and places look great.. except for that floating sky temple... that looks like shit.

I think the real appeal to this game will the the ruins that you explore in the sky. I assume you will explore some floating castles.

I'm eyeing this game anyway because of the hype. Next week is special so I might buy it depending on the review scores
I'll give you Elden Ring and GTA VI without a second thought even though Rockstars next attempt isn't even released yet. We know their track record, we know there is talent there, it will definitely impress (me). Elden Ring is technically nothing major, but has a very unique art style and world design, so understandably impressive.
And even though I can understand being impressed by BotW (I don't dismiss it outright like some others, I think it has a striking art style and a very unique atmosphere in its own right), I do not understand if you're listing BotW here how you cannot be impressed by what Pearl Abyss is trying to achieve with Crimson Desert... They are technically on another level, the craftsmanship is beyond anything Nintendo could achieve. I get it that these whole graphics discussions are really subjective despite what many believe that you can objectively tell something is technically more impressive (as Crimson Desert really is in comparison to BotW)... So even though I get your sentiment, it's just very bizarre to me and the fact that it reminds you of FF16 which might leave you unimpressed unconsciously has something to do with it.
In that regard I would be impressed if by this time next week you haven't tested the game by yourself or have tested it and are still unimpressed.

There could be worse. ;) Witcher is hard to beat imho. But people always moaned about the combat in W3...maybe CD is an upgrade here? 🤷‍♂️
Personally I thought TW3 was kind of a shitty game. Bad combat, map markers everywhere, bad loot, bad mission design (yeah, well written, but they all play the same) and just overall a boring game outside of the story.

I much prefer the style of games like Dragon's Dogma or Elden Ring where gameplay comes first. I hope CD leans more towards that and it sure seems to be the case.

Anyone else trying to rush through games before this comes out? I just rolled credits on ghost of Yotei. Gonna change focus to Romeo is a deadman but I don't think I'll have enough gaming time to get it done.

it is impressive! the whole thing is impressive, kids these days are just retarded!

Just bought a PS5 Pro for this motherfucking game.

First game to convince me to upgrade my PayStation hardware since TLOU 2.

Finish Ninja Gaiden 4 >> Dive into Crimson Desert >> Resident Evil: Req >> Dive into Phantom Blade Zero >> Then into Wolverine ... Finish strong with GTA6

BY FAR the best year this gen, not close.

It is indeed impressive. I know this ain't an fps but im getting the same vibes as when farcry came out. It had that depth not many games had at the time. I dont mind the mystery of the game, I just hope they play into that and use it. Kind of like how Riven is in the sense that its strange and beautiful game, doesnt make it a sucky game. Also the same with deus ex hr, everyone was almost certain it was going to suck until the demo or build got leaked, but even then people were not certain, that game ended being phenomenal.

Only became aware of this game last week.

Still on the fence and going to wait for reviews. Have a base ps5 and I notice pop in and frame rate dips on the pro. Gives me a little concern. Not sure if that's valid or not.

Games looks crazy, that's for sure.

Im sooo hyped, I cant wait to check out the pc preview:

"I am proud of John's for Crimson Desert on PS5Pro. Definitely give it a watch below!
We are continuing coverage over the weekend. Next up is my look at the High End PC version and what makes it neat - there is some significant PC special sauce here to elevate it above!"Hopefully, we'll get to see the cinematic settings at work.

Yeah I watched that and yes I'm waiting for the high end PC video to see if the flicker on the edges is an engine thing or hardware thing. Either way, I can over look that since I'll be too busy choke slamming NPCs.

Cool OT! Has there been any word on how the playable characters work? For example, could I play as the lady for the whole game? I'm hoping its not just minor segments as I prefer playing as ladies in games. Hope I get my copy around launch day this time. My RE9 copy is still listed as the 26th lol.
As we all know, all you have to do is believe you are a lady, and you are one. You should have learned this by now. Just believe real hard Kliff is a sexy lady and he will be one, it's that easy.

I miss when games unlocked at midnight in your timezone

10pm on day of release is bullshit! I'm old as fuck now I like my sleep.
