tbf Dragon Dogma combat is about 3 skills that you ll use for the entire game and thats it, this game has so many combat styles that you ll never bore yourself if you try new things.I'm actually happy for them, I just hope they fix all the shit that's wrong with it.
No shot. Dragon's Dogmas combat and enemies are so much better than this game. This game has a better world, and that's about the beginning and end of it.
Incorrect. It was my own observation for years when the game was shown, which is why I said the game "looked like throw spaghetti at the wall the game", because to me, it did. I trust my instinct/opinion as much as I always have before anything else.Wrong beliefs versus reality. People who actually play the game say the opposite, which means that you are choosing to buy a narrative that reinforces your initial assumption instead of actually getting reliable info of what the game is like.
You are orders or magnitude wrong. If any, Pearl abyss showed how barebones trashy designed DD2 was.I'm actually happy for them, I just hope they fix all the shit that's wrong with it.

I skipped a good chunk of a quest I didn't even had started because I was able to find it's boss by exploring on my own.Does this game have any quests which can be started by just finding the event happening in the world or meeting a person who is part of the quest
Yeah this, I personally have only played a little and I'm not crazy about it. But I have very old very strong open world fatigue.Glad to see it's doing so well.
I'm not in love with it personally, but I'm glad to see a big, ambitious, new IP find success.
We talk about crimson here, not the smashy smashy gorilla gameThey hit that hype just right huh. It's all timing and a little bit of luck can make even the most mediocre game sell a lot.
Thats amazing news, it means those initial 2m sold copies announcement wasnt just one and done, 3m sales makes game definitely already profitable, maybe not huge success yet, that will defo come with future 4 and 5m sold copies achievments which are almost certain at this point![]()
Don't think there's anything mediocre in the game. Well maybe the writting, but it's not like the game lacks reasons to be engaged outside of the story lol. They hit that hype just right huh. It's all timing and a little bit of luck can make even the most mediocre game sell a lot.
I like even the writing. Kliff is barely saying anything which makes him ridiculously likeable. And his whole gang of drunkard warriors is pretty authentically as well. The meta story about the Abyss and the witches etc is a bit confusing yet. But I think its normal that when you have a whole new story and IP...than you usually have to see the whole story first, before even making a judgement.Don't think there's anything mediocre in the game. The funny part is is that this game launched in a much much much much better state than cyberpunk, and this is coming from someone who loves cyberpunk and played it since day oneSo far I think game is quite amazing so sales are fully justified.
At some point hating the game becomes popular, we saw the same thing with Cyberpunk.

Really hoping folks have their coming to Jesus moment and give this game a chance because they are seriously missing out and I think a lot of people are just too prideful to change their mind and give it a try
It's also worth noting and something that makes me pretty happy is that these developers seem to be patching at a way faster rate than many othersI think the difference here is that CP got way more bugs while gameplay was refined from day 1 (including controls). Here it's the opposite.
But even months/years after CP was fixed you still see people hating on the game (most of them never played it), it has become popular.
There are so many gameplay mechanics (not talking the predatory ones) in MMOs, Survival and Gacha Games that could be refined for single player games that will push the medium forward a lot, but when they try to do something different than the established AAA studio with already hooked fans, they are received with disdain by the media and review bombed.Nice to see, I hope more MMO and Gacha Devs start exploring new genres or styles for games. Finally my copy should be arriving today, along with my usual haul of films and manga lol. Had it preordered, but my collector's edition took a while. I bet it only continue to sell with long legs as both word of mouth spreads and sales happen over a few years. And who knows how they'll support it in the future.
Pretty good for a worst generation ever, right?Hate the gaming output as you may but you have to respect that this generation is seeing runaway hits left & right.
Remember that they don't make 100% of the revenue. It has brought in around 150M after platform holders took their cut.Over $210 Million generated in a week. For a game that cost $120 Million to make. Every game sold from today on is now PURE PROFIT!!! Gotta love it.![]()

Also, marketing and distribution costs are not included in that 120M development budget.
Still, this is a good start for a game that I pressume will have strong legs, at the very least on PC.
Perhaps the reviewer didn't like the game?IGN continues to look bad no? Game doesn't look like a 6/10. Veilguard got a 9/10 and that game bombed!
Unfortunately, i can see it snubbed due to the fact that has shown that review/game journalism industry is a jokeThis game will be winning Game of the Year, NOT JOKING!
Perhaps the reviewer didn't like the game?
What's this obsession with opinions "looking good" or "looking bad"?
I know people who despised Crimson Desert and people who loved it. None of them look bad or look good.
Maybe mentioned like Dragons Dogma 2, but no way it's winning it considering there is just too many baggage attached to it, like game "journalists and reviewers" bitching about nonsensical stuff and early AI asset placements that devs completely forgot to take out, causing furthermore bitching. This game will be winning Game of the Year, NOT JOKING!
You know you can group like items in the inventory screen, right? Such as "tools, healing" and more?
- UI/UX:Also, shit like ore and other craftables should not be taking up excess space. Inventory should be better organized (tools, healing, sellable) and certain items should not take up space.
With a good / OK narrative (not even necessarily to the level of TW3) and small UI tweaks it would have the potential to be game of the generation imhoI am loving it personally, but man, it makes you really imagine... Had this game had a few areas where it was improved, it would have been one of the best games ever made and the sales would have probably doubled or tripled after word of mouth got out.
- Narrative: Better writing, integrated lore, antagonists, factions, main and side stories and character development (Kliff's design is very cool, but he needs better background/writing). It doesn't do a good job explaining everything and it absolutely feels like a giant missed opportunity. This alone would have solidified the game as one of the best. Wish Pearl Abyss hired a western team or even a writer to assist with this.
- UI/UX: UI menus (especially the inventory) should have been better. I should not have to select different letters, notes, wanted posters that force me out of the menu to Kliff physically staring at the document to examine one by one. Just let it be done all through the menu screen. Same with other stuff like the coin pouches, abyss artifacts, etc. Also, shit like ore and other craftables should not be taking up excess space. Inventory should be better organized (tools, healing, sellable) and certain items should not take up space.
- Controls: Yes, I am used to it...but some of the choices here are still baffling. For example, you should NOT have to mash X or A to sprint (especially riding a horse). That's just bad and gets tiring...picking up items should not be this hard as well. Locking onto things, using your lantern, etc can get annoying as well from time to time. Just wish some of the things were more responsive even after the patch. There's so much here they can improve through updates.
- Some Gameplay Improvements: I LOVE the difficulty of the bosses and the lack of hand holding. That should NOT change. But some of the mechanics in the game like the "theft" system is very stupid. You should only lose reputation when you're caught and should not have to wear a mask everytime. It's just badly designed. Also, call me a masochist, but I don't like the food/healing system and wish they limited our healing items via Estus flasks that we can slowly upgrade through explorations, side quests, puzzles, etc. Would refill at fast travel spots, cooking/bonfires, resting, etc. Adds more challenge than going into a boss fight with 20+ healing soups I can just spam.
Even with all of that listed, this game has been so fun and is scratching an itch. There aren't many games like this.
OkHmmm that's 4 million a year since release in 2011. Crimsin Desert needs to sell another 1 million this year.
CD is a contender but at this moment GOTY would beThis game will be winning Game of the Year, NOT JOKING!
