This game looks like a lamer version of Witcher 3 to me (Witcher 3 had a good open world with interesting characters and good quests/side quests though).
And TW3 is plagued with one of the lamest combat mechanics. The one thing CDprojekt red never could solve in that game to save their lives. Hopefully they finally fix the combat issue in TW4.

I got the opposite issue. I've played the first 10 hours of witcher 3 twice and I always drop it cause the gameplay is trash. I end up starting to play something else and never return to it. Most video game stories I can't even remember 2 weeks after I beat a game so I really don't care much about stories.

Same reviewer that gave Concord and Highguard a 7 :ROFLMAO:

I mean yeah. For at least 7-8 years now i don't look at "professional" reviews at all precisely for reasons mentioned in video. Moreover I also think that a lot of reviewers these days just plainly suck and can't play games because most of them are just writing grads rather than dudebros like normal people.

Recent Other Worlds 2 / Awoved reviews were the best example of that. They were perfect reviewer games, short, good story, easy but utterly boring games that you could sleep while playing and completely devoid of any fun other than what developer wanted you to laugh from (and often it was forced af).

Its selection bias either way my boy.. if you think people playing 2% of a huge game and leaving reviews gives you all you need to know thats your prerogative

Imagine believing that someone who read the first chapter of a book is more knowledgeable than the folks who read it completely.

These mental gymnastics are rich, just because it's easier to hate on something than investing a bit of money and many hours in it.

The amount of hype its getting by most people to what the game actually is... It's not the worst game ever, but calling the GOTY so far is hilarious to me.

It's a GOTY nominee so far. There's like 6 slots. Some people can know if they'll personally like it more than GTA6 for example. I'm probably one of them. I didn't play half of GTA5 yet. I actually like the top down GTAs more. I'm OG. Ha!

The defense force for mediocre games will never cease to amuse me lol.
Mediocre... we are talking about the most ambitious open world game since years, with the best graphic ever right now, and a combat system that is better than 99% of other games.

The only mediocre thing is the story... I dunno cause I skipped everything I could, story in videogames is like story for a porn movie.

If they had refined the control system this would have been considered the second coming of christ.

But no, there is no yellow paint, and no handholding so it is bad...

I think its mediocre but while yes the game looks amazing , the gameplay is just fine to me , definitely not the best combat ever :P . This is just me , but a great game needs good gameplay and good story.

This is insinuating all other anspects are equal. BotW feels completely natural and fluid to play the moment you pick it up. Crimson Desert still has me fighting with controls and wobbly movement physics even after an hour.

Some may say that an hour isn't enough to make it feel natural, but your missing the point that games should feel natural from the get go.

But let's continue with the brain dead reductive takes from social media.
BOTW has similar controls....
