What is your dream game?

A new Imperium Galactica

Its a dead genre, but it was an awesome genre

More sports RPGs.

I had this cool idea for a Baseball RPG, where you'd be in this fantasy world with all these different types of races, and you could travel the world recruiting people into your baseball team. And like the main character would be a human, but then there'd be like a giant badass bipedal bear or something who'd be a power hitter or some bird people who could jump high so you could stick them in the outfield and all sorts of other weirdos with different strengths and weaknesses to put on your team, and you could mix and match all the different players to have the sort of team you wanted, like slugging-focused or small-ball or whatever. And you could decide how to raise your characters, like they would get EXP from playing certain positions so they you could raise certain characters to play different positions, like deciding if you want Pitcher A to be a starter or reliever. And your characters would gain EXP and level up somehow. And maybe different types of gloves and bats and other equipment. And a fatigue system, because some players just can't play as much as others without a break! So it'd be like Fire Emblem baseball, sort of. Fire Emblem meets Super Mario Sluggers campaign mode. And of course you'd have an airship to travel the world in and look for games to play and people to recruit and advance the story.

Oh, and Skies of Arcadia 2, with the ability to buy ships like they planned for the first game. I'd pretty much be OK with whatever they decide to put in as long as it gets made.

A futuristic open-world game set in a massive Blade Runner-esque city. Developed by Rockstar.

This has been my answer since GTA III came out. COME ON HOUSER BROTHERS!

At the moment? A 4E D&D turn based and grid based game. Pretty much just lift the core rules and drop it into a game. Add the better P&P modules into the game and sell them as DLC. Allow you to play single player controlling a full party or 5-6 player online play. Add in a full featured campaign creator and DM mode and you are set.

Why does this game not exist? It's pretty much already designed!

Isn't Temple of Elemental Evil pretty much this, except for the mutliplayer? It may not be superexact, but it's round based as soon as combat starts, hard, and looks pretty true to the rules for a once casual RPG player like me.

Did I mention it's on sale for 3 bucks at GOG right now?

If not, it's reason for not existing is the same reason why my perfect Warhammer 40k Simulator doesn't exist - companies making a shitload of money with the real deal and don't want to water it down with PC versions which might make them less money.

A special Half-Life pack that begins with Black Mesa Source, continues through all of the Half-LIfe games without a break and ends with Half-Life 3.

Alternative, Half-Life 3 in my hands.

a jrpg that

-has the big colorful to scale world, like dragon quest 8

-fast, turn based combat that is rich in options and puts you in scenarios that test you in a challenging but fair way

-very little hand holding, but you would never feel lost

-a party that you create from scratch. like the elder scrolls, there would be many races and customization options.

-an incredibly cheesy/campy story. it would be about the power of rock and roll, and how the main villain casts a spell that makes everyone racist but amazing riffs, power ballads, and elvis hip shaking can help the story make sense.

When I was little, my dream game was an old school JRPG set in the Dragon Ball universe, that took place after the actual series. Story would've been more like Dragon Ball in that it was more whimsical. And combat would've basically been Chrono Trigger. Would have been my game of forever.

Suikoden 6
Suikoden 2 graphics but 1080p.
Murayama is the director and Higashino does the music.
Harder than any Suikoden game.
The final chapter and lots of the old Rune Bearers come back for the final fight.

I have thought about it sometime and its like the new Tenkai Star doing his thing but sometimes you see two guys watching him from a distance. Keeping check on him and when things start to get out off hand in the end and the new Tenkai is about to fail they step forward and its Tir and Riou. Cheesy shit.

Or you know, a Suikoden MMO.

I've been dreaming up my fantasy Starfox game for awhile now...

Of course single player would be a spiritual successor to SF64 that has on rails, points based aerial combat with multiple branching paths and bosses in each level. I'm thinking probably 16-20 levels, multiple medals to unlock, and online leaderboards. That's the easy part.

For the online multiplayer, you'd of course have your standard deathmatches, but you'd have squad based combat with anywhere from 2 to 32 players. You could play 1v1, 3v3, 4v4, 8v8, 16v16, or free for all matches. There would be both open, nonranked matches and ranked matches. Ranked matches would net you points depending on how well you played, allowing you to purchase upgrades for your Arwing such as increased bomb capacity, speed, turning speed, etc. However, you wouldn't be able to upgrade all stats at the same time. With each rank you gain there would be a cap on how many upgraded parts you could use.

There would also be a new mode that would heavily employ the use of the Upad and asymmetrical gameplay. Squadrons would consist of 4 Arwing captains that actively play on the battlefield. A single fifth player on each side would act as commanding generals who utilize the Upad's touch screen to issue RTS-like commands on the battlefield. Each squadron is tasked with destroying their enemy's base's central core while protecting their own. Teams could either use pre-made bases or the commanding general could craft their own. Generals would have ranks that give them access to a limited number of building blocks and pieces, all of which have variable defensive and offensive capabilities. They could build their bases in a minecraft-esque fashion surrounding the base's central core. Each base would also be forced to have a certain number of weak points incorporated in its structure that are susceptible to attack. As Generals level up in rank by playing matchmaking ranked matches, they'd be given additional piece to improve their base.

During matches, generals would have access to multiple unit types in limited quantities. There would be repair units that can rebuild damaged portions of the base, and multiple offensive unit types would exist, all of which could be upgraded, that the general can direct and position on the map simply by drawing on the touchscreen. Specific rally points could be used to dictate areas to either attack or defend. They could assign NPC units to squad leaders who can use them in multiple formations to maximize offense or defense. Generals would have to balance creating offensive and defensive units due to limited resources. Squad leaders could rally any nearby friendly NPCs, but generals have ultimate say and could always redirect them. As points rack up on either side, generals could deploy care packages with power ups and bombs to anywhere on the map. These care packages could also be used by the opposing team, so placement would be very important. Squad leaders could of course use their custom built Arwings and would have unlimited lives, but NPC units would be limited and deaths would result in a reduction of points.

GODDAMN, I know I'm ranting, but I've been thinking about this hypothetical game for a long time. It makes me sad because I know it'll never get made...

A western/cRPG:

- ... made by a studio that is the best in its class, relatively speaking (in time).
- ... that's enormous in size and rewards exploration and side-questing.
- ... is filled to the brim with unique and interesting characters.
- ... has a suitably epic storyline with a memorable lead villain and plot.
- ... has dragons.
- ... has deep and complex gameplay mechanics that reward those who put the time into understanding said mechanics.
- ... that's not necessarily in 3D.

Hmm, what game does this describe?

Lets be honest here GAF ... Plants vs Zombies 2.

I would love to see a combination of Elite and The Elder Scrolls

Basically, you could fly all over a galaxy, then land on a planet and run around cities and stuff, doing quests.

Obviously, these would be procedurally generated, but at the same time, there would be a core of say, 20-50 worlds that had some design to them.

They would release modding tools so people can make their own plug-ins or unique planets or quests or whatever.

But then what they also would do, is release a new thing of DLC every 6 months of so, that would contain news and a storyline of what's going on for the next 6 months (the game would sort of be played in real time).

I used to be a big player of Traveller, the pen & paper game. The company that made it had a magazine and every month they would have news about what's going on in the Traveller universe. Basically something like that.

My dream game was a remake of Pokemon Gold/Silver and that actually happened so...

I guess a console 3D version of the handheld Pokemon games or an actual worthy successor to Duke Nukem 3D.

Shining Force 4
-SRPG
-Valkyria Chronicle's Canvas Engine
-Shining Force 3-like deep, lengthy, geopolitical story
-Online co-operative battles
-Fully-customizable character creation and management
-All races, classes, and archetypes from the entire Shining Series

I've stated this before but I'll say it again.
My dream game is an RPG set in a world of luchadores.
Instead of a kid wanting to grow up to be the DRAGON MASTER or something, he grows up wanting to be a luchadore.
Think Mucha Lucha but with the art style of Jet Set Radio, and the quirkiness of Earthbound.
The battle system would be a mix of real time and turn-based like Grandia II, but all battles would be in a ring, but there would be different rings throughout the game, each one with its own gimmicks.
You'd be able to customize your luchadore costume & mask with different patterns and what not, each pattern giving different boosts to stats, of which there would be Grappling, Acrobatics, Brawling, Submission, and Celebrity/Star Power/Charisma.
You'd also be able to customize your move set.
The story would start off simply you working your way up the Luchadore league, but eventually it'd turn into some really corny plot about having to save the world from wrasslin' aliens or something, of course it'd all be self-aware and not serious.
As you defeat major opponents you unlock their special move, as well as a new pattern for your costume.

So thats it in a nutshell.

That or like...IDK Baldur's Gate with a not so tedious battle system, HAYCHDEE GRAFIXX, easy modability, and...Thats about it I guess.
Or a cRPG style FF set in Ivalice, story written by Matsuno, art by Akihido Yoshida, no Squeenix Politics.

Shadow Hearts IV with an M-rating like the first game and Hirota as composer and Mitsuda collaborating and even more interesting real-world locales.

I would cream my pants fifty times over. There hasn't been an RPG series like Shadow Hearts since the last one came out... six years ago.

A driving game that uses Google Earth for accurate roads and also uses contour lines to depict the elevation of the roads above or below sea level. The actual locales don't have to be incredibly accurate IE: Driving in the country can be farms of light bush, driving in suburbia can just be generic houses etc as long as there are the right tunnels, bridges etc. Traffic density can be adjusted as can time of day and weather.

You can choose a length of the race up to 50km long (27miles) by choosing a start point and finish line, circuits etc (Same as Test Drive Unlimited) but with practically the whole world at your disposal. People on your friends list could show you some epic routes and these can be added to favorites with challenges sent out for leaderboards.

TLDR: Test Drive Unlimited + Google Earth = Unlimited races on accurate real life roads.

personally, i want a mixture of the 3D zelda games (ocarina of time, majoras mask, wind waker, twilight princess, skyward sword):

-1080p, 7.1, 60fps
-option to use any control method (waggle with/without motion plus, traditional, etc)
-a huge overworld with multiple towns and npcs, lots of sidequests, lots of methods to travel (warp points, epona, musical instrument, etc), and maybe even different worlds altogether.
-*lots* of dungeons. some of them can be optional but have great quest rewards.
-secret dungeons that are remakes of classic zelda games.
-no BS fetch quests that are pointless (that damn part in skyward sword, its related to music, everyone whos played it knows what im talking about)
-online leaderboards to see who can beat the dungeon in the fastest time, who beat the game first, etc.
-2nd quest that is basically hero mode and master quest into one, so remixed puzzles, much harder enemies and bosses, way less heart drops, the whole nine yards.
-lots of items that get used constantly (like skyward sword). no need to feel like an item is used only in that particular area/dungeon.
-can take as little as 20-30 hours to beat by going through the main storyline, but can go past 60-70 for 100% completion.
-real time day/night cycle depending on the console time. you can also advance and go back in time (a la majoras mask and the zelda hd demo)
-fishing needs to be as real as possible. pretty much can be a full game if you want it to be.
-on the subject of fishing, bring back plenty of minigames (the rollgame from twilight princess was nice), and why not throw in multiplayer? either have link with different tunics for each player, or even go a step further with characters from previous titles, possibly with some secret and unlockable characters
-completely customizable HUD, not just light, standard, and pro. if you just want hearts showing with nothing else, or if you want the rupees to be on the bottom left, whatever you want.
-option to turn on and off voice acting (link is always silent though).
-costumes for link, like dark link, alttp link, nes link, red tunic link, wind waker pj link, skyloft academy link, etc.

thats all i can think of. ps - i hate finals!

Chrono Trigger sequel where you can explore 1999 AD

1.Xenoblade in HD + with a more fully developed open world on par with games like Skyrim + online multiplayer allowing friends to form parties, scour the world, quests, etc. + combat system similar to Tales action-RPG combat styles

2.Final Fantasy VII Remake + visuals on par with Advent Children

3.A Spiderman Game of Arkham Asylum's/City's quality

reading over this thread, these stood out to me as games I think I'd love to play

Rapelay

wait

Edit: Real Answer: Anybody read the comic CONVOI? That. A fully realized virtual world where you can do whatever and it all feels real.

If this can be counted as two posts then does the "first post nails it" GAF rule apply?

Something like if they took Phoenix Wright and paired him with someone almost as awesome as him, maybe like Professor Layton or something...

well its needs to be story driven and obviously needs to be a new IP.

Well i have something in mind for the plot.... so i will just post it here

Story Revolves around a Cop who is very good in what he does, that is fighting crimes and what not. So half of the game revolves around the normal shooting and fighting crimes.... (this whole part needs to be mixed with awesome stealth missions "like he gets a distress call in the night while going home and he says fk it i m gonna take that" goes on to a warehouse and take all of them out, Now all the option is given to the player he can go all stealth by using silenced weapons or taking minigun and go all gun blazing so and so.....

During this first half there is are some time where he gets very weird visions or more of he faints out stating that there is something wrong with him..... internally...

BOOM !!! Flashback

Turns out he was a part of some experiment 10 years ago and he was the only survivor of that experiment..... now because of the experiment his left hand is totally disfigured (as in all veins have poped up and his fingers are all red) this infected part.... what it does to the character no one knows

Flashback ends he back to the present world

This whole sequence happens in chunks but is kept a secret from the player and also not shown very well during the first half of the game......

When this is shown to the player for the first time he gets to play around with it for a while like using his power in the work he does and all

during the later half

his infected part starts to grow and slowly slowly it starts to take over the whole body of the cop

ahhh.... there more to this and in more ways i can make this moar interesting

but since this thread is regarding DREAM GAME some of this sort will make me spend 200$ on the game :D

Baldur's Gate 2. You're welcome.

I'd wish a game like Deus Ex Human Revolution had a bigger world. Barely 3 hours into it and I love it!

Just feel a bit cramped :/

Chromehounds 2 i guess

or

Monster Hunter SUPER NEXT GEN OMFG LOOK AT THAT :O :O :O

OR

... Elite 4 - on a handheld and Next Gen.

I want to be able to gasp at the universe at home, but continue the grind of being a space trader/pirate killer on the go.

#1. Something just like Pool of Radiance but with 4e rules and a stable engine. Doesn;t even need to be pretty. I just want to play D&D again without trying to deal with nerds or annoy my friends into it.
#2. Something like Chrono Trigger in tone and mechanics, but with episodic intersecting plots and "timed hits" a la paper mario.

God help me.

World of Warcraft II.

Like, a continuation of the game and the WC universe, just with a dramatic facelift to Uncharted visual levels.

We said 'dream game' right? As in, will never happen? K.

Elite4 - persistent universe and AI driven characters and events which can give player missions and vise versa.

It Came from the Desert or zombie game as persistent sandbox game.
Each playtrough starts with different kind of outbreak and player being in somewhere in the area doing the daily routine.
Every unit in game is 'unique' AI with family relations and being tracked whole time in the world.
Zombies would actually infect people and the infection would spread the little town in real time, so it would be crucial to keep people safe, hoard foor and ammo. (no silly I'm immune main characters)
Post death information on what happened to the city and so on. (like in Pirates perhaps more information.)

Half-Life 3.

But non series specific... I want a new realistic survivor game with dinosaurs. 3rd person, top of the line graphics, really good dino A.I., and based around surviving more than shooting dinosaurs. Limited weapons/resources. Based in a place where nature has overtaken a compound, and dinosaurs run free (duh). Maybe not a super open world where you can go everywhere at once, but definitely open and encourages exploration.

Rumble Roses 2 - Oh lawd! Such fine fine HD women in all sorts of viscous liquids and semi-liquids. Oil, Jello, mud, etc. Crazy high polygon models of the most waifu-est quality. Wrestling engine similar to fire pro, but with lecherous humiliation moves. Oh yes! You will believe in fully modeled areola and mons pubis, jiggly bits all over. Gravure mode. :3 :3 :3

Warhawk 2 - Basically Warhawk, but on a planetary scale, which would spill out into near space on to orbiting moons, satellites, and other installations. It would be - how do the kids say, "epic"? :3

Street Fighter 4 - The most insane high resolution 2D sprites. Improve upon the delicious game play of SF3. Make parries into the Instant Block from BlazBlue. Cut down on the nutty combos and get it back to two hit combo tugs of war.

Shantae HD for all consoles. Oh yes!

An FPSMMO. Takes place in a galaxy with several important planets. There would be no forced factions, instead it would consist of player made clans/alliances, fighting each other for control of planets and its resources. Bases (with base building), spaceships and planetary vehicles.

If we're talking sequels...
God Hand 2
Okami 2
Viewtiful Joe 3
Super Princess Peach 2

Otherwise, I want something that mixes God Hand with Zelda.
Yes. Yes, that would work quite nicely.
