It'll probably be an opposite of SS, so more realistic is certainly a possibility.
But mature?
How would we even qualify that?

Story and setting.
It doesn't have to be apparent in the art style. I tend to think the bright, more cartoony art-style is a better fit for Zelda than total realism. I'd just like to play a Zelda where there was a real sense of danger. Everything's just too gosh-darn peaceful in the latest games.
I agree.
That bugged me about Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess. Hardly any of the NPCs actually gave a shit as to what was going on.
Zelda's missing, oh who cares.
It's like living near an airport.

Or worse.
Give me teh mature. Nintendo, don't make me come down there.
Zelda should go the Conker's Bad Fur Day route.
Aonuma and his team will be fine as long as they never listen to anything fans of the game suggest.
That is definitely not the same model from TP. His skirt is frillier and his hat has a tip, which aren't the cases for his in-game model.
Those aren't frills, that's chain-mail, which he did have. Aaaannd, his hat did have that tip.
Yeah but it wasn't as prominent.
I have my doubts it's the same model. The spider, too.

Dunno bout you guys but i'd take an incredibly detailed 2D HD zelda game,
or a 3D one akin to either the MM artwork or the ALTTP artwork.
All I can say is if they can reuse Gamecube assets and make everyone cream their pants like the Zelda Wii-U demo, then more people should learn to reuse their Gamecube assets.
I wonder if Nintendo will develop their own engine for internal usage for HD games. I'm sure they at least see the benefit of having their own flexible engine, if only just for themselves.

Looks so good. I know it's just a tech demo... but I still have... hope. I believe.
How dare you sir!but 2D Zelda sucks

I used "teh mature" playfully.
Still, TP is closer to what I want in a HD Zelda art style than SS. SS, TP and WW all look good of course, but my preference for the next game is more moody colours and styles.
Ugh, no. I'd rather Zelda be colorful and vibrant.
yea well what do you know?

It also looks much higher poly but hat could just be me.
I just completely overlooked this for a second:

If you look at the interactivity that is provided I'd say it is very much like an in-engine cutscene and hence it can easily look like that during gameplay if one isn't picking out flaws under a microscope.
Question is whether they are actually going to release the next Zelda game with that kind of visual aesthetic.
It's running in real-time, but that's been known for awhile. Keep in mind it's within an enclosed room, there's no need to incorporate UI, and everything is scripted, just like in-game cutscenes (like you said).
The HD demo looks great, but we're going to be getting better looking games by the end of the Wii-u's life cycle for sure
Agreed...I loved the somber tone of that game. SS's big bads are all colorful and silly looking, which was a bit of a disappointment to me. I think WW had even more menacing bosses and that was extremely cartoony.I used "teh mature" playfully.

Actually, there is a UI.
Not only on the controller, but if you switch the demo to the controller, it still plays on the TV with a map and hearts and junk.

Yeah Otis Washington from Dead Rising could show up and give Link brand new missions every 5 minutesProbably a minority opinion but...watching this demo makes me really want to see the return of a Navi-like fairy companion. Yeah, Navi was a little annoying but, as we've recently seen, it could always be worse...
I wonder if Retro didn't have a hand in making that engine.
We doin this every page then?
Wish granted?
Controller screen in Zelda Wii U will probably just be item management (which would be a conservative but fricking awesome use of it.)
but 2D Zelda sucks
