Call of Duty Vita confirmed for Fall release.

I think CoD on the go could be really fun, especially now that you can play it with dual analog sticks. I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

Where do you live that Wi-fi is only at home?

I'm an ATT DSL customer, so I have this (8 locations in my zip code):

http://www.att.com/gen/general?pid=13540

In addition to every Starbucks, McDonalds, Universities, small businesses, etc.

I live in NYC, go see our so called WIFI hotspots LOL

That shit is completely barren outside of Manhattan (Midtown East - Upper East Side)

So please WIFI everywhere around you is bullshit, maybe Japan and the Asian countries have built infrastructures that can cater those needs, but not USA and others

Also you're really gonna trust the fast food restaurants with your sign-in info and other things, security isn't top notch

So people that played uncharted vita.

Can that right stick handle call of duty mp?

I honestly don't think it's the stick, It's definitely more software and with the amount of aim-assist in COD games, I don't see why it wouldn't. I say wait until Unit13 comes out and make a comparison and if it's still the same as Golden Abyss then yea the sticks are the issue.

A COD on the go with crossplay and cloud saves/transfarring is pretty huge news for the hardcore (PS3) COD crowd. Not PS3/360 big, but will do very well on the Vita imo. The only downside probaby is that they have to re-learn the controls. A combination of touchscreen and backtouch panel is gonna be pretty different than R3/L3/R2/L2 buttons.

It could be possible for it to run COD with proper concessions. Mortal Kombat Vita had to tone down the polygons and some things, but it manage to look great and it's at 60 fps. It can be argued that fighters are easier to reach 60 fps, but I think it's possible with concessions.
They are already making concessions on the big screen versions (sub HD). I don't think they will be aiming at 60 FPS for this one. I mean I'd love it, gameplay > gfx and all but still, not really realistic imo.

You won't be able to play this over 3G, so that limits you to Wi-Fi. Which for most people would only be available at home.

So it begs the question, why would you choose this over the PS3 version?
I don't think anyone would chose it over the big screen version (maybe a select few, who knows). Fans would probably double-dip.

Nah CoD Vita will be duking it out with CoD 3DS (for all we know they could be the same game just with better graphics etc for the cod version).

One has a bigger install base and better control scheme (with CCP) the other has better graphics.

The fight is on.

From what I played (admittedly not a lot of time spent on either vita or frankeinstein 3DS), I vehemently disagree.

I find COD on the VITA very promising. Will buy for sure. Leveling up on the go, this has the potential to be massive.

Sony/Activision have me by the balls.

Can someone please detail the demographic they expect this game will reach? So far I hardly see any COD players voicing their interest for it, just a lot of comments about what it will do for the hardware sales from people not really focused on the game side of things.

Could exceed 3-4 million.

Aren't most dedicated COD users on the 360 anyway, that is where the lion's share resides

Why would they want a VITA, even if stats/ranks are cross-platform enabled

I highly doubt that is #GAMECHANGER

COD always and I mean always gets shat upon in NPD threads for being a shit game.
Now Vita owners embrace it with open arms, because it may boost sales and move Vitas? Beyond fucking funny. LOL.

To take that experience with them on the go. So far no handheld has managed to capture that.

The potential is there and I would love a CoD with cross-play with the PS3 version. But somehow knowing Activisions great relationship with Microsoft I'm afraid Activision would never do such a thing with a CoD game. I hope I'm wrong on this one though.

If they can pay for COD:Elite, I'm sure they wouldn't mind having the experience on the go. The marketing for this could be HUGE. I could see Sony pushing for a deal or two as this can be a system seller. Combine it with inevitable price drop in Christmas (or COD bundle) and you got yourself a great deal.

The only problem I have right now is Sony raising the price for Uncharted ($50 compared to $30/$40) which would mean every company will start charging that amount if they think their game is AAA, which can be an overall turnoff cause I rather pay the same amount for a PS3/360 game than Vita.

Nevertheless, if the experience is the same as console with wifi (and if possible, 3G) multiplayer then all I can say is:

PC not doing well I see.

59 percent 360.

39 percent PS3.

2 percent PC.

Earnestly, PC is nonentity, put next to the consoles.

Darn, Source is, as we deal with this, more actively played than MW3.

Less than one percent of MW3's first-week (record) sales in the UK (2 million) were on the PC.

It is mortifying.

When people say "on the go" what are we imagining here? Both the SP and MP being intact and available on the Vita with no compromises?

Cross-play with PS3 owners? (Which in my opinion will be a seriously mismatched massacre) and i would imagine Acti would charge for.

This. Seriously, playing on a Vita against those at home using their Dualshocks has got to come at a disadvantage. Either that or Treyarch will have to really ramp up the autoaim on the Vita version. Even if they do, are console players gonna wanna play against Vita auto-aimbots? Crap, Sony couldn't even convince IW to put Move support in MW3.

If there was cross-platform competitive gameplay with the PS3 version, that would be a #gamechanger. Otherwise, I don't really see many people caring about the opportunity to play single player "on the go." Public wi-fi would suck for online play.

Yea, 20m+ every year is still better than 32m every 5 years.

Yes this is true.

The impressive thing about MK though is that it's only on one platform. To contribute to that 32m figure, you have to buy that one particular system. It's the very definition of a system seller.

I haven't purchased a COD since Modern Warfare 2, but if the Vita version is competent and comparable to what I get on consoles, I'd get the Vita game.

Biggest reasons are:

1) Better online infrastructure with Vita. Cross-play, invites, party chat, everything is integrated better and simply works a whole heck of a lot faster than what is available on consoles.

2) Convenience. With the VITA, I can put the machine in standby at the lobby screen. Booting the game up will be instant, so I can join a match in about a minute or two. I can also play this in bed, or during commercials when I'm watching TV.

Call of Duty is an experience that would really benefit from having near instant quick matches that can come and go as I please, rather than having to turn on my TV, Receiver, PS3, waiting for the title screen to load up, log into the lobby, then get in a match that could take a few minutes. This pick up and play nature really entices me to grab the Vita version.

No, CoD is huge on the PS3, especially in Europe.

And even in America, I think the PS3 version of CoD represents ~35% of total sales. So while it's bigger on the 360 in the US, it's still massive on the PS3.

With the Vita's gyro, Vita players would likely be at a serious advantage, honestly. Vita's gyro-aiming is fantastic. Also, the sticks on the Vita are just as good as the ones on the DS3 in terms of precision, they just have a different feel to them that takes getting used to.

I'm also curious to see if developers will try and make use of the back touch for aiming, bringing the Vita more in line with a mouse.

I can't afford a Vita, but as a 3DS owner, this announcement makes me jelly. I bet it's gonna look insanely awesome on that OLED screen.

MK has been bound together with the Wii for quite some time now.

snip...buncha cool Vita ideas...

Yea, all that sounds pretty sweet and it'd be nice if they could pull it off. Unfortunately, while the Vita may be up to it, bringing it all together is in the hands of Sony and I feel that'll be the big hurdle. Do they have the foresight and commitment to implement all these ideas and see them through? Years ago, I wouldn't have questioned it but my faith in them has waned significantly of late so anything they announce now becomes "I'll believe it when I see it."

lol at anyone thinking a 3DS version would be anything like the Vita version.

No Dual Anaolg out of the box
Online network is nowhere near PSN on Vita

Good luck with your FPS on DS goals for 2012 GAF. lol

i wish posts like this were longer, we haven't had a good dramatic reading in a long time.

Mortifying? Really? I'd rather consider it a testament to the excellent, refined taste of the PC audience.

Will it be a completely new game or a port of an old Call of Duty?
I played Resistance for Vita on the gamescom last year and that worked very well. I suppose we will see a lot of shooters for Vita in the upcoming years.

MK has been bound together with the Wii for quite some time now.

It sold the vast majority of its 32 million before then though.

As an example of its system seller status, as I mentioned before, see the NPD when it released alongside GTAIV. GTA did nothing for the 360/PS3 that month, whereas the Wii shot up to 700k.

Back on topic, I think Vita getting a near console-like CoD experience can only be a boon to the platform, but I don't see it pushing systems like some people think it will. It won't be the western equivalent to Monster Hunter IMO.
