You suck in gems with shot A and to suck in gems with shot B you have to either stop shooting or switch to A. To simulate this i have set the controls from switch to hold.
Please note that the gems have a glow for a few moments, you have to nearly point blank the enemys to get the gems in this glowing state.

Maniac scoring:

Basics:

You build the combo meter while killing things with A or holding A on big enemys. When you kill things with the combo meter in red they give you double the amount of gems. The Idea is to build up your combo meter shoot at a big enemy with A and kill it with B while in the red zone...

Here is the Futari guide on the cave-stg forum:

Thanks a lot.

I'm definitely going to do some more reading today. I'll change the shot from switch to hold as well. The glowing gems are the key to original mode from what I can tell. That's going to take some practice and memorization to improve. I got the first extend by accident last night but now I know where it is.

Edit: looks like laser(blue) sucks in gems on the ground.

So if I could only buy one cave game... Which one is THE go to game?

In spite of Deathsmiles being my personal favorite Cave shooter on iOS, I'd probably have to recommend DDP Res if you can only choose one. The reason being, it has it all: Awesome visuals and music, tons of content, a very cool scoring system, especially in Smart Phone mode, and more otaku vibes than you can shake a stick at.

Are you GeekyDad on GC? Trying to get as many shmupers as possible, I'm ZethGAF and DDPR (HD lately) smartphone is my specialty, though I'm still a beginner.

I'd also recommend Dodonpachi Resurrection, HD if you can stomach the price. Such a fantastic game in every way. By far my favorite visual style of all Cave's games.

fuck, I just bought espgaluda 2 the other day. that game doesn't screw around either D:

It's not HD, it's universal with a large border on iPad like the original Bug Princess release.

In the options you can switch the screen size to large and it will fill up the whole screen on an iPad (at least on an ipad2, not sure about 3), no black border.

SpellTower update today, according to the dev. I haven't been paying attention -- is there a set time apps are updated?

Checks phone... checks phone... checks phone...

Nah, not GeekyDad on GC, but we're already GC friends. We added each other a while back.

Um, I grabbed the H+M hero vs monster or whatever app its called... and I had to jump onto itunes to see if the makers of battle hearts made it - cloned its mechanics down to the artstyle. Wasn't made by mika. Deleted it right away.

Bards Tale iOS. Bought it for $2. This is a way better product than I could have expected. Its full fledged and makes some of the awful shit I bought of a similar ilk look like shit. (eg rimelands or whatever that was). looks great too

Ravenmark is supposedly good but it's still broken for iPad 3 so I haven't played it.

It looks like Ravenmark was updated today / tonight.

Edit: never mind, description says its still broken on iPad gen 3

Hey guys, preliminary feedback for the new v1.06 build we just released a couple of hours ago indicate that we've finally quashed that awful display glitch for new iPads! Now you'll finally be able to enjoy Ravenmark. We're really sorry for all the delays and inconvenience, and hope you feel the game's been worth all this trouble.

EPOCH - is there actual story extensions on the higher difficulties? I finished Easy mode last night, enjoyed it a little, but it was super repetitive. Does it actually add more on harder difficulties or am I safe in just saying "thanks for the time" and moving on. Picked it up when it was on sale for a buck.

Does/has anyone played Order and Chaos? I was thinking of picking it to play on my new IPad but I don't know anything about it.

I played it for like two months when it first came out. It is actually pretty impressive for what it is, an MMORPG without soul. I mean that in the best way possible. I enjoyed my time with it and it gave me hopes that eventually we will see a great MMO for iOS. It is excellent proof that an MMO could work on iOS.

Picked up
Carcassone
Mass Effect: Infiltrator
Risk
Monopoly
Flight Control HD
Monster Flip

Thanks for the heads up and recommendations,

P.S More sales please

WHOA this looks like a cool fucking game!!!!!!

Just picked up Angry Birds:Space really enjoying it compared to Angry Birds the original. I like the deeper gameplay and that it takes a bit more skill to be able to pull of some of the shots needed.

Pastry is right - it's quite good for what it is. The only real problem is that in order to make any of the epic gear, you're going to have to purchase IAP's. Like, it's not an option...Some of the crafting ingredients are IAP items.

They also have IAP's to replenish epic dungeon runs...

If you're looking for a pretty decent WoW clone, it's not a bad run at all. It is significantly more fun if you have a friend or two to play with so you can chat about things and pass time, though.

My biggest gripe is that they're using some relatively intrusive means of getting more money out of you. Really, in order to get the most out of an MMO, you would be running the dungeons and group stuff. To do the harder/more involved stuff, you're going to require IAP's. To craft the good gear to do better, you're going to have to pay. It would probably come out to less than your typical $12-15/mo subscription for WoW or FFXIV, yeah, but...Well, you can be the judge. :)

Hey guys quick question about those cave shooters, so I downloaded the lite versions of their games and was wondering if the full versions also auto shoot for you, is there a setting to have you manually tap the screen to shoot??

They all have auto-shoot & that's it.

They all auto-shoot but you can enable a shot on/off button in the options.

I just leveled up to almost max level (59 out of 60) and enjoyed it for what it is. Haven't spent a dime on it apart from the initial purchase. I'd never focus on gear in a game like this on a mobile platform.

It'll last you quite a while if you're just looking for a portable WoW clone.

I think a lot of it's substance has to do with it being a console port from 2004. You'll easily get 12+ hours out of its adventure.

If you honestly care about golf and would use this, here's a free code for Golfplan with Paul Azinger that I snagged at Starbucks..

Quote for Code

Mention if taken please.

Taken. :) I'm a golfer, so hopefully nobody minds!

E: And even if you do mind, it's already installing on my phone. :3 Thanks Meier!

Is the single player fun?

1. Trash Panic would be awesome on iOS or Vita.

2. Continuing to absolutely love The Bard's Tale.

3. Subsoap's excellent Faerie Solitare (and UNIVERSAL HD version) is free.

4. Fibble Lite = Universal. Paid game = Separate versions. FUCK. THAT.

2. Stop hyping up this game, some people have massive backlogs!... what kind of game is it?

3. Nice, thanks for this, I almost grabbed it off Steam.

4. Noticed this too, so fucking ridiculous.

I've been trying to like this game, but I just can't. I don't know if I'm just playing it wrong or what. It seems like most of the adventures are just random luck of the draw, and if you win, you get prizes that let you get more draws of luck for future adventures. Is this really how it is supposed to be played out? It looks cool, it seems like it should be a fun game, but it just appears to be 90% luck, 10% saving up items to make that 90% luck stacked more in your favor.

I can confirm it works on my iPad 3, but strangely enough, this is what happened to me:

1- I checked iTunes this morning. The app description says it's fixed! I go yay, download it, run it, not fixed.
2- All of a sudden, the App Store says I have an update. It updates Ravenmark, and bam, it now works.

No clue what happened, but I bought it and it works now!

It's a simple dice-based co-op game. It's definitely not 90% luck though, there are actually important tactical and strategic decisions to be made throughout, but there's little underlying rules complexity. And yes you are chucking dice so there's definitely luck involved but not an unreasonable amount at all imo.

That said dsfdf though, the game just really clicked for me when I played it on Android. The one thing it was missing was more bosses and achievements.

Bard's Tale is a 3D RPG and it's great, really well made. And on top of that you get the two original Bard's Tale games for free, which are CRPG's ;)
