And since Sony had given absolutely NO indication of going through with the Dragon Tattoo sequels, Craig's schedule is suddenly a LOT more free than it has been the past 4 years.

Keep the Batman fan quality of fanmade poster outta here, please!

Bond/Olympics intro NOT April Fool's joke?

More rumours emerge about 007 Knighthood and Olympics opening

Arise Bond, Sir James Bond. Rumours first started circulating that Daniel Craig has filmed a short sequence at Buckingham Palace as part of Danny Boyle's opening ceremony for the London 2012 Olympic Games a few weeks ago, but the story is gathering space with additional detail revealed today.

According to a report in the Evening Standard, 007 will receive a Knighthood from Her Majesty for his 50 years (fictional) service in defence of the realm. Buckingham Palace sources have told the character has secretly received the sword’s tap on his shoulder from the Queen.

Daniel Criag was seen at the Palace with a film crew last month.

“Daniel Craig was here in black tie one morning in early April,” says a source. “Judi Dench [who plays M, the head of MI6] was also here, and the talk of the Palace was that Bond was going to be knighted that morning.”

The paper reports: "It is believed that the Queen bestowed the honour as part of a film for the opening ceremony of the Olympics. The event’s artistic director, Danny Boyle, has been filming at the Palace. There has been speculation that, as part of the film, the Queen gives Bond a mission to open the Games and that he will be parachuted into the Stratford stadium."

“Bond did sterling work for Queen and country and deserves a gong,” says Ian Fleming’s biographer Andrew Lycett. “The first Bond book Casino Royale came out in 1953, Coronation Year, so the Queen has something to celebrate. James Bond receives an obituary in The Times in You Only Live Twice, in which he is described as Commander James Bond CMG. Reports of his death later prove to be an exaggeration and he is brought back to life for later instalments.”

Craig has deflected enquiries about his mission. “According to the papers, I’ve got an invitation, I’ve been, had tea, sat out with the corgis,” he told LBC.

A spokesman for the Palace said it was involved in a number of filming projects for the Jubilee, but would not discuss specific projects.

OH LAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWD

Collider have just had a Skyfall explosion.

Daniel Craig talked about strength of the Skyfall script and the humor. He said:

“The humor’s not something that we’ve tried to do, it’s just that we’ve got a great script. Humor comes out, I think, more of situation than it does out of gag lines. We’ve got some very funny lines in the movie, but who knows how an audience may find them? I remember with Casino, one of the lines we didn’t think was particularly funny, the audience really got a hold of. So I’m just excited about showing it to an audience and showing the dialogue we have and the situations we have, and to see how they react to it. I think there’s some very funny moments. I have a very dark humor though.”

Even though Rory Bruer, Sony’s President of Worldwide Distribution, announced at CinemaCon that Bond 24 would hit theaters in 2014, Craig and Broccoli wouldn’t confirm the news. Broccoli told us:

“He was getting a little overexcited (laughs). We’re just actually focusing on this movie. One hopes that in the future we’ll be announcing other films, but no one’s officially announced it.”

Craig echoed her statements by saying:

“No one’s announced anything. He got a little ahead of himself (laughs). It’s very nice that he has the confidence to be able to do that, but we haven’t finished this movie yet.”

Final Thoughts

While some set visits reveal all the twists and turns of a movie, for Skyfall, I still have no idea what it’s about besides the one liner. I also don’t know the meaning of the title. Or much of anything. And I love it.

However, what I took away from the set visit is everyone involved is very confident in the script, and they’re giving off an aura of calm that comes from confidence. If I were a betting man, I’d say Skyfall is going to give Casino Royale a run for its money in terms of which one is the best Daniel Craig Bond film.

Then they have an interview with Mendes: http://collider.com/sam-mendes-skyfall-james-bond-interview/162988/

Then another interview with Craig and Broccoli: http://collider.com/daniel-craig-barbara-broccoli-skyfall-interview/162975/

Interviewer: Some of us saw the teaser trailer at CinemaCon last week and it has a great dark, serious tone. Can you talk about what you guys are going for with Skyfall?

Daniel Craig: The teaser’s just that, a teaser. It represents a very, very small part of the movie. I mean you know the score, when you’re making a teaser you want to show part of the movie and leave a lot to be desired, and I personally think we have. I think what the teaser’s done incredibly well is show that there’s an awful lot of content in the movie, but [the footage shown in the teaser] is nothing.

Lulz:
In Casino Royale you gave Bond a very different personality. Where will you take him now?

Craig: Go-go dancer.

(laughter)

Craig: It’s something I’ve not done myself before, and I thought it’s about time that I showed that part of myself to the world (laughs). Um, wait and see. I mean, really. I’m not going to say that we’ve done something incredibly different here; we’ve done something I think which has quality about it and, like I said, we’ve got a teaser that has a great story that we want to tell. But it is a kind of wait-and-see situation.

Hey Solo

Sam Mendes is taking some cues from Christopher Nolan.

Mendes mentioned The Dark Knight and Nolan twice in a very short span, first praising the current Batman run (along with the Bourne films) as one of the best franchises, "because there are characters at the center who are to some degree in conflict about what they do, and are pushed right to the edge." Then talking about his learning to direct action, he praised Nolan's sense of non-linear action sequences: "The challenge is to create parallel action so you're not locked into a linear chase, which is something that Chris Nolan for example does very, very well. It's never just A following B, there's something else going on simultaneously, and they overlap." As two British directors who broke out in smaller dramas before moving on to giant, blockbuster action films, Mendes and Nolan have clear similarities-- so if you're curious about what Mendes-directed action will look like, you may need look no further than The Dark Knight.

:)

Skyfall shit action am confirmed. Hey Sam, look within your own Bond director brethren.

Being serious though, he's not praising how Nolan SHOOTS his action, so crisis might be averted.

That's a lot of words to describe how Chris Nolan does action. Garbage film-making would have sufficed.

This is payback for years of shitting on Nolan's action. You deserve this, Solo.

It's not shitting when its being honest. The man cannot shoot action. I hope that Mendes doesn't follow him too far down that rabbit hole. There are a lot of things a director could use Nolan as an inspiration for. But this should not be one of them.

He's obviously talking about how Nolan paces action, rather than how he shoots action. Every piece of praise given toward Nolan right there is at a script level.

What do you know, somebody not on the internet who thinks Nolan does action well. Almost as if he spent more time watching the scenes instead of obsessively critiquing them to others.

It actually appears to me that Mendes is talking about the way in which Nolan edits and structures his action sequences. I don't have a problem with Nolan's action either way, however, or at least it never bothered me enough that I noticed.

The movie is already set for an October release? Kind of surprised, since the last time I heard about this movie it was something about funding problems.

Very cool. Although I'm not the biggest fan of QoS, the sets and production design were pretty goddamn good in it.

I am watching Quantum of Solace on USA right now and I agree.

Though Olga Kurylenko is sporting Snooki levels of bronzer to appear "Bolivian" and I can barely suppress my laughter.

Sam Mendes don't mess around, yo.

Unless the story is a disaster this should be the best Bond movie ever made.

Considering almost everybody working on the film praises the script in every unrelated interview, I think the story is going to be gold. I really do think this has a chance of toppling Casino Royale, though I'm not ready to put my expectations there just yet. But everything has certainly aligned beautifully.

Ever? I don't think it's possible to ever top On Her Majesty's Secret Service or From Russia with Love. Those two are just untouchable.
