I have a question. Is this game even Steamworks?
Only the STEAM version have STEAM achievements. Other than that the game is ont STEAMworks at all.
Is this the place where I can ask if my PC will run this?
I have an older processor, Core 2 Quad Q6600 running at 2.4 ghz (I used to overclock it to 3.0, but the windows no longer boots when I do for some reason).
4gb RAM, 560ti
Will I be able to run this on medium settings at a consistent 60 fps? Will it at least run better than Xbox?
I would think so.Is this the place where I can ask if my PC will run this?

Sounds like this is pretty well optimized (was worried about that as I think GTA 4 is a bit hit or miss on my PC). I'm running the same specs as MrCompletely only with 6GB of RAM...really tempted to pick this up.
I'd like to see this as well.Someone post a picture of prerendered FMV. Have they bothered to reencode those things at a higher resolution/quality?
Please don't mis take this for condescending but, have you ever played Max Payne? As a huge fan of the first two it's pretty faithful to those. Run n' Gun with tactical dodging. Though I've noticed that you can also play with a cover based mentality and do pretty well too. This definitely plays well to fast twitch shooting if you're capable, just like the first two MP games. Is this a straight out run-and-gun or are there other aspects to the gameplay? Can you talk to NPCs or is all the dialogue in cutscenes? Any collectibles etc?
I'd like to see this as well.
Is the transition jarring? With the console versions it was actually rather difficult to see what was FMV and what was realtime. It transitioned perfectly between the two.
How many of the scenes are pre-rendered video? How often do they use it?I don't know if I'd use jarring, but it's pretty noticeable to me.
Well, if you DO have a legit key would it not be legal to download ISOs of the discs and use your key? That seems like a gray area (as you would be downloading something illegal), but if you're using a legit key to install the game I don't see a huge problem. So just to confirm that I got hustled :
1) I have a retail cd-key for mp3
2) It turned out to not be the steam version
3) There is nowhere ( legal ) for me to get the game with my aforementioned cdkey? Like.. I don't know, maybe rockstars's site or something?

I honestly couldn't tell on PS3 as the video compression was extremely good.
.
You should probably enable v-sync and triple buffering then. If your FPS is jumping that suggest to me that you're running without it and probably seeing tearing.I rented the game from Gamefly on 360, and it was harder to tell the transition on there. That could be because I'm obviously not sitting right up to my TV as I am with my gaming monitor. I also have Afterburner running and when it's a pre-rendered video my fps is in the thousands, gameplay it goes back to normal levels. That also gives it away as to when there's a transition. Overall though it's still a good transition, just more noticeable than consoles IMO.
Game seems to be running pretty solid for me but I can't figure out why it keeps randomly pausing by itself. It's really pissing me off.

guess i'll be waiting on 3D impressions for a while longer then. i don't know if it has an Nvidia profile or not, but i know they said 3D works, but that often means 'with loads of unsightly problems'.
So they did a fine port, this time?

Maybe if you have something in a USB port (like a BT adapter) that could be causing it. I know when I play Darksiders, if I have my BT adapter in, it constantly moves down on the menu and I can't even start the game.
There are issues also with MSAA. In the first level after you drop in the pool Max has a big white outline, which I've seen again in Chapter III. And as you can see in this next shot there's still a fair bit of noticeable aliasing even though I'm running 8x.
Yep. I noticed this last night. Running it in FXAA at any setting with MSAA off makes the game look better, and gets rid of that white outline.
I can post some impressions when I get home in a few. I looked yesterday and it's listed as 'Not Recommended' in the NV Control Panel, but I will give it a go anyways.
Hmm, I just don't like the way that looks. Even without tearing, the consistency is compromised by having a framerate that isn't perfectly in sync with the refresh rate. That is correct, no vsync. I get no tearing either.
I play on a 120hz monitor and get frames in the 140s+ so I don't run or need to have v-sync enabled.
