It says a lot when I can read this comment and immediately know, "Ah, someone must have gotten to that Haganai chapter."
Kyojin have this dreadful feeling of grossly overpowered giants that it took a whole team to kill one, and the human keeps on the defensive side that humanity practically did not make any advancement since years ago. Not to mention that the human side's plans seem to always fail for various unforeseen reasons.
Premises may be similar (don't know about Ragnarok Odyssey though!) but I'm pretty sure execution is a whole different thing.
Mecha x mecha to be exact.
I've learned so much from this chapter alone. Like what seme and uke is.
I haven't been keeping up with the manga and still immediately knew that Rika was up to her usual stuff.
I really wish this manga was more "age appropriate" and I wouldn't mind reading it.

Well the last arc is like a fanfic. But I'm a fanboy so I enjoyed the fuck out of it.

It's really only the last arc, with is pretty tacked-on and totally skippable. You could easily just read up to the Christmas Bowl and then skip to the final chapter, if you wanted.

I read Eyeshield 21, and the only reason i did not drop it was because Yoichi Hiruma. One of the funniest characters in manga.
They should have ended the manga after the christmas bowl though.

Slam Dunk is the best sports shounen ever written and probably the best shonen ever written, only challenged by REAL but REAL is more seinin than sports manga at time.
A sports manga can be shounen or seinen.
Like you said though, basketball is just an excuse to tell REAL's story. It plays a big part to be sure, but it's definitely not the primary focus of the comic. Which reminds me that I need to order vol 4, 5, and 6.
Absolutely, the last match alone is better than most other sports manga. E21 is also pretty good. Never really got in Ippo.

Somebody who watches anime and reads manga with fujoshi characters. They never shut up with that stuff. Even Gahara gives us a run-down Bakemonogatari joking around, IIRC.

Don't get me wrong, I read Slam Dunk and almost cried during the last match, but I still prefer Ippo. I caught up with the manga in one hell of a week and it was rollercoaster ride of emoties filled with intense matches that easily exceeded every match in the anime adaptions covered.
Ippo became a manga which I have to see through to the end no matter how many chapters will keep coming. As a matter of fact I would probably stop reading it if there was an ending.

I only really read Ippo and Eyeshield. Started Slam Dunk but got distracted. Gotta read it again one day. That baseball one shot Kishimoto did was better than the entirety of Naruto post timeskip.

But nevertheless, fujoshi are the ones who use those terms, Rika aside. With embarrassment on my side since I've lost count on how many series I've experienced with fujoshi about. Reading shoujo doesn't help the situation. Or is that yaoi? Or both? I forget...guh. :/
