The Women's Football team is mostly English, with 2 from Scotland.

Because the IOC, correctly, identifies them as only one team representing the country of the United Kingdom.
England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland are separate countries according to FIFA because they created the sport, but didn't want to originally join FIFA. In addition to this, they also have seats on the IFAB which decide on the Rules of the Game.

Technically team GB isn't even the UK team, since Northern Ireland technically isn't a part of it. People from NI can choose to join Team GB or the Republic of Ireland team.

If I remember correctly, the SFA was the one raising the biggest stink about Team GB. I believe the FA said they were going to do it alone if they had to, and its not like Wales is getting into a major tournament anytime soon.
Oh yeah, I was going to ask, why its GB and not UK?

I thought it was just bad wording: "Team GB" technically being a shortening of "Team GB and Northern Ireland" according to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_GB

If you are in the UK the BBC are streaming every event.
None were selected although there was of course many people who questioned that decision. The SPL is a pretty terrible league and there are very few Scots in the BPL. The fact there is a Welsh team in the BPL now certainly helps make their players more attractive to an English manager. Beyond that though, there just seems to be a really great player that comes out of Wales every few years.

Both the Scottish and Norn Irish FAs refused to allow their players to participate, for fear a Team GB must take part in the World Cup/Euros.
