Last one, I promise! I will reminiscence more at the end. Sorry for two sorta-frequent updates, but I guess I'm at the end and can't help myself. Anyways, back on target..
We're back in the heart of Grandbell. Well, for Serlis, it's his first time here. But it's where he's meant to be. Julius, Ishtar, Hilda, and two other dudes all wait for us. Arion is around as well. The final battle approaches. Will everyone survive? Will there finally be peace? I was a little more generous on the images because it's the last one, all right!? You're almost free!
Early on, we are introduced to
more mages with
more sleep staves. I gave Lana a
Restore in case it becomes useful, and it actually does a bit later. As I sortie units out of the Chalpy keep, I'm able to clear the first group of mages with Leen's help. Femina and Altenna more get hits in, as well as the archers (including Leif!). Lots of units outside Edda keep, and some are headed towards Serlis. Speaking of Hilda and Tinny's history, Arthus and Tinny have a talk about about how there's no love lost between any of them. Unfortunately, Tinny, you're quite too weak to be doing anything at all. Tbh I just saw in the menu that you had a talk with your brother. Go back to the keep.
You too, Patty, this aint a picnic.
The attacking forces are really not very tough. I've kind of given up on using units like Delmud and Johan and Oifaye except in emergencies, so I allow the usuals to counterattack the first charge, Lakche, Shanan, Hawk, Aless. And now that Sigurd's got Tyrfing, he's basically like a second Aless. Noice. Femina is still providing her services as the random mage killer, taking on some further west. And she'll have more to do later on in the same vein. Well anyways, there were two faces within Edda's units but I don't remember their names or even who killed them. They didn't seem much stronger than normal units.
I wish I screen grabbed part of the map here but I guess I never did. Anyways, the second line of defense at Edda is more mage heavy. Perfect excuse to simply just use Aless and Serlis. In fact. I'm able to not really worry about clearing them all out entirely, and just quickly down the boss and seize the keep. I don't think I even encountered that old guy who was basically doing what he was told. Anyways, I didn't really need the exp and not a lot of units with high resistance. This was an easy way to take care of it. So that's one's of Grandbell's little fiefdoms taken back. So this encourages Burian and Co to attack both keeps simultaneously. Well, most of my units are still down south anyways, and that's where Burian is heading. His subordinate is heading to Edda...but they have a bunch of steel and hand axes and nothing remarkable at all. I place Serlis to guard the keep with a Brave sword, I think that's all the defense it will need.
Burian has a really strong axe called the Swanchika which I believe I've seen before. Anyways, it wounds Scathatch but does not kill him. While I'm clearing the Dozel units out west, Serlis easily handles the attackers out east on his own. No one has a chance to hit hit, and he can even attack the ranged ones with fire. The guys with hand axes even make sure to move into a place where he can hit them without leaving the castle. How polite of them. Out west is a harder fight, but some of my best units like Shanan and Lakche are basically perfect counters for the axr cavalry here. Again, weaker units like Oifaye and Johan are just kind of around at the moment. Faval gets the final blow with Ichival, grass is green.
The boss at Dozel castle falls over easily. Levin then goes on an exposition trip, enough for a few images I guess. Basically, we learn that each of the 12 Crusaders underwent a blood ritual in order to obtain some power from various members of the Ancient Dragon Tribe. These midichlorians are then passed down to Serlis and the many others in this generation. Specifically, Julia has inherited Narga's power. Well, the player already knew this but now Serlis is in on it. HIlda, over at Freege, is hoping to win round two against the Liberation Force, and will stoop to some low level to try to come out on top this time..
She's surrounded by a bunch of Barons with various spells and silver weapons. There's also 5 (!) Sleep wielding mages in back. Ugh, at least I have one Restore staff, but I will try to either stay out of the range or only put in units they will ignore, like Serlis or Aless. Getting close to Hilda, however, triggers Scorpio to appear from the back. Ruh roh. I warp Faval and Lakche back to Chalpy, expecting them to hit there first...but actually they are ignoring the keep. Such is life. I place evasive units with range such as Hawk in the front to bait out the initial attack. However, the units actually didn't move very fast, and Lakche with her +3 move was also able to get to the rest of the force to help out; I situated her near the front with Thunder equipped.
The fight from that point on is actually pretty boring, since the whole unit wielded entirely bows. One-sided fights, yawn. They all die. R-approaching Hilda and the barons, they end up funneling themselves to Serlis...so as usual this works out in my favor. I happened to catch the image as fortify was blinding the screen, oops. These units were not super weak, and on top of that, the sleep stave wielding mages sit not far past them. Because of that, instead of "mowing" my units through like I normally do, I let a select few like Serlis, Aless, Lakche, and Hawk to just whittle them down turn my turn as they throw themselves into the choke.
Aless and Serlis, with their Holy Weapons equipped, are able to roam freely, though. Another nameless mage-guy is defeated and Freege is seized. We learn from one of the residents that not only was Alvis not playing along with Julius and Manfloy, but Ishtar was also in on making sure no children were actually hurt in the recent round of children hunts. So it seems like another person who happened to just find themselves on a side of the way they don't fully agree with, but are invested into it through circumstance or even by blood. Ishtar takes the field again with 3 pegasus knights, and we also learn that Manfloy has managed to somehow corrupt Julia with evil magic. We will have to find a way to undo that. Julius also calls on Arion. I assumed that he would have been under similar magic but I suppose not. Also just a reluctant enemy.
So Ishtar's group head towards Freege, Arion's towards Chalpy. I warp Hawk and Altenna to Chalpy since no one is there except for Tinny, how useful. I'm hoping Altenna can recruit him, or help hope that Hawk gets a lot of hits on him and is able to avoid attack with the keep's aid. I don't have to worry for very long, however. Hawk takes out one attacking wyvern and then Altenna finds herself in range and is able to Talk. But..
He and his group becomes a green NPC group instead of him becoming an ally. A bit lame. And just so there's no misplaced expectations, I never thought of a good way to use these guys. They have no magic resistance, and with so many enemy mages on the map, feels like they would just be throwing themselves into the fire. I'd likely lose Altenna too. Shanan's finding himself see more use this chapter than most of the others, the really high evasion is super useful. He takes out two of the miniboss pegasus knights by himself. I just need to make sure he's not put to sleep, since he can't evade that. I have Serlis sitting in the keep, and he's pretty much indestructible to all the regular enemies, so I'm not too worried. Just have to make sure not to get any unit near Ishtar. I have to go with the same trick and make her attack someone that can survive an encounter, like Aless. I had to recover a few sleeping people out of her range, good thing I had that.
Aless survives, as expected. Luckily, most of the other units just keep going for Serlis in the keep. On the next turn, I have all of my units wipe up absolutely everyone. Even got the B-team like Oifaye involved. Eventually I have a healed Serlis, Aless, and Leen available still to move. Basically with a dance, that gives me at least 3 attacks on her, so I just have to hope to not be unlucky, which happens to turn out fine. RIP, Ishtar. Out of all the mages on the cliff being annoying bastards, only one has a spell that does damage, so Femina is going to go to work on those guys.
Possessed-Julia is rapidly approaching though, and gets into range before all of the mages are finished off. However, like any strong Magic user, Aless and Serlis are good counters. As long as she's smart enough to always attack from range, I should be good. Unless she criticals, which I haven't seen. SO I just need to talk to her after that, right? Well, Levin pretty much spells it out as flatly as possible: we gotta kill Manfloy first. Well, too bad
he's all on the other side of the map. Sigh. So, what to do with Julia? Well, she keeps attacking Serlis, who is like a god at this point, and she barely does any damage to him. Well, I just move Serlis on his merry way towards Manfloy with Julia always not far behind. I'm even able to make sure Femina is always in range for a clutch heal. Clumsy but it works.
Manfloys guards are all mages, which normally is good new for Serlis with Tyrfing, but they do Hel instead of a normal attack. I'm assuming if that hits twice, your dead. However, none of them ever hit Serlis, luckily enough. Again, I had Femina in working range in case the bottom fell out. Manfloy himself was actually pretty unremarkable. Serlis basically calls him out on how everything that's happened can be drawn back to him, and that he's not going to forgive him. The resulting fight isn't much different than any keep-guarding dark mage. RIP, Manfloy, you evil doofus. I'm immediately able to Talk to Julia, who has awakened to her power, and for the first time, claims to know who she is. Within the keep of Velthommer, the group seeks for the Book of Narga, but the attendant says he's unsure where the key is. It was one of Deirdre's possessions. Well, we know Julia received an item from Alvis, and circumstances have her basically right next to the keep anyways, so..
Julia acquires
Narga, and now she has the highest resistance in the group. Stay losing, Serlis. I start moving by better units towards Bahara castle from the west, with Serlis and Julia approaching from the northeast. The final countdown. Only Julius/Lopotousu remains. He has a long range spell which is really annoying and all of the units nearby are like mini-bosses. I quickly learn that I should have approached them way more carefully, unlike every other keep guard in the game. Narga is really powerful, and Balmung continues to make a last push for MVP votes this chapter..
Aless and Lakche don't make it

. The fighting's almost over. Serlis would only do 2 damage to Julius...well that's not good. Narga is much more effective. Well, basically I just gotta keep hitting Julius with that and make sure Julia doesn't go down. Narga again finds itself opposed to Lopotousu's dark magic and evil presence.
The siblings face off. Unfortunately for Julius, it seems like history had a funny way of repeating itself. I get a little careless with a long range heal and Lana also kicks the bucket. Whoops. Sorry Serlis. Luckily enough, Julia is able to land enough hits of Julius. His HP hits zero. It's over. We are greeted with one look at his true form before his disappears...for good? The earth ceases to shake. Levin informs Serlis of his role as King of Grandbell, and he reluctant accepts. Very much an FE ending from this point. The various characters return to the countries of Isaac, Silesia, Manster/Lenster/Thracia (where Leif becomes king), Etc. My translation patch decided to cease at this very moment so unfortunately I could not find an exact match for my ending, but it's not hard to put pieces together. Well, I suppose letting Aless die puts a big hole in the question of Agustria, but oh well. Not going to dwell on it. Serlis and Julia will rule the country in peace until their descendants (with other people, mind you) have to take up arms the next time the world is threatened. That's good enough for me.
I can't make sense of it.
