Fun fact: The Olympics Opening Ceremony is 3 hours long.

Except in America, where it is 4 1/2 hours long. The extra 90 minutes will be nothing but ads they splice into it.

Looking forward to the road race, even if they did close off all the roads I use for resurfacing

Box Hill offers some great scenery.

It's amazing how many good events start off tomorrow. Beach volley, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, handball, basket.

Olympics best before track & field begins - I said it.

They have to cycle up Box Hill? It takes me about 30 minutes to drive there and they cycle past my house so wow that's a much tougher course than I imagined.

Well there TV coverage doesn't. So online shouldn't.

It won't have any adverts or sponsors

BBC doesn't have commercials.

No commercials. Its a public funded.

BBC doesn't have ads because it's publicly funded

you're welcome

No.

There's no such thing as a commercial break on BBC channels.

BBC has no advertising, full stop.

rumours? Anyone with eyes was aware there and then. It was really ropey CG.

(Can't comment on these photos as on phone)

I tend not to watch much of the opening ceremonies. Partly because of the ridiculous NBC tape-delay, mostly because I have a very limited tolerance for human interest stories presided over by Bob Costas.

NBC doesn't understand that most people will check Twitter for results during the daytime and not bother watching taped coverage when they will likely know the outcome already =/

Still can't believe they won't have live coverage but they make more money showing everything in prime time

The opening and closing ceremonies are the only things NBC won't be showing live. I'm pretty sure the only people who care about that are in this thread.

Also they aren't going to edit it. It's scheduled to last for 4.5 hours.

Sat in vue in the west end. Advertised to be 4K HD but I think they meant. Play SD quality BBC1 through a 4K projector so the quality is really poor. Complained but no change. Atmosphere is still great and looks good on the big screen.
