Agreed. Beijing was a technical masterpiece no doubt, though. More than just money there.

The intention and message with Beijing and London are completely different though. I think London really went for the whole historical relevance to metropolitan modern accepting haven of...something ha. On a serious note I didn't really like the beginning so much, it seemed kind of cliche, clunky and at times preachy. There were a lot of things going on that didn't really transition well from one another and in isolation they just vary widely in the emotions they trigger. I think the strongest part was after the parade (I did kind of like the Queen jumping in though).

That was pretty great. The use of humour and music really set it apart from Beijing - it was as much entertainment as it was ceremony and the better for it IMO.

It'd have been really hard to top Beijing but they haven't even come close. Loved the 007 cameo though

Exactly. Why try to beat it?

We went in a different direction and it was brilliant. I have to say it was very British. We Brits loved it, rest of the world's loss if they don't.

That was really dumb, skydive. Think I'll stop watching as others have said it fets bad(as I can see). As an American I really don't give a damn about the Queen taking her seat.

Giving us Americans a bad name bro.

And the shot of the queen looking angered made me laugh pretty hard.

Not really. I can't comment on the history bit, but Beijing was very robotic and this is the opposite of that. The contrast is so large that I almost feel like it was done intentionally to spite them.

Are you British?
Beijing celebrated China's history, arts and everything. The contrast is large because we're talking about two completely different culture. If you compare Zhang Yimou's and Danny Boyle's movies you'll see the same differences. That doesn't mean the Chinese are robots and the British are full of heart, people are different.
