WOW

JORDYN WEIBER DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE ALL-AROUND WOMEN'S FINAL IN GYMNASTICS, BEING OUTSCORED BY GABBY DOUGLASS AND (I GUESS) ALY RAISMAN.

She was the favorite.

I saw her floor-routine, she stepped out of bounds after a tumble.

The synchronized diving is pretty entertaining. And the BBC commentary is actually helping you understand the subtleties.

Stay classy.

It's not a matter of being classy or PC. Different countries have different standards and cultures when it comes to doping, sportsmanship, cheating etc. A good reputation has to be earned and takes time, and China doesn't have a good reputation with these sort of things. Just as entire sports (like cycling and athletics) can be heavily tarnished because of doping for many years, so can entire countries.

Personally, I think that questioning large entities (countries, sports, bodies etc) is perfectly legitimate, but I don't like questioning or accusing indidual athletes without evidence.

Personally, as a swimmer, I give her the benefit of the doubt. One of the most amazing swims that I've ever seen.

The testing for illegal substances has been massively expanded at London and so there is a very good chance that anybody doping will get caught anyway.

In other news: World beaters Hungary getting a beat down by Serbia in the water polo.
