Ok, I'm looking at the splits.

Magnussen did a 48.03 when his best is 47.1 from back in March, compared with Adrian, who won the lead off with 47.89 tonight.

Phelps was very good with a 47.15. Jones did a 47.6, so Lochte was the slowest with a 47.74 (that would be a low 48 off a flat start). Still that is pretty solid and probably as fast as he's ever gone. Might have been better to put Lochte 3rd and have Phelps bring it home, but then there might not have been a lead.

Yannick went off though with a 46.74 (edit: Yannick swam out of his mind as his best before was 48.08). Not much that could have been done against that for America. Australia on the other hand had the top 2 times in the world this year in the 100 going into the Olympics.

is anyone the watching the Field Hockey game? Germany is playing the US of A (1-0)

i think we can savely conclude that Field Hockey isnt among the most popular sports in the world.

Field hockey is the 2nd most popular sport in the world after basketball.

Dear Americans/Canadians.

What do you think of field hockey? Given ice hockey is popular there - if you're a NHL fan are you digging this?

Hsing evens the match at 2-2.

Also, I love the fact that even though the table is surrounded by four electronic scoreboards, there is still an old guy sitting at a desk with flip-cards to keep official score.

In the US, field hockey is usually only sponsored for girls to off set gender imbalance from American football in schools. Hence, it is sadly scene here as a women's sport by most.

America has NBA. It's played all of the country, and is one of the most popular sports in the country. I don't think it's such a big deal in France...so I mean, if you want to convince yourselves that then go ahead but I don't think US beating France at basketball is noteworthy.

China won the most gold medals in the last Olympic and has no chance to win any medal in basketball, yet their flag bearer is a basketball player. Pau Gasol is the flag bearer of Spain. Basketball has a large following in many European and Asian countries, especially the Philippines. Just because you don't know the popularity of a sport in countries other than your own doesn't make your perception true.

Who even buy tickets to a swimming event outside the Olympics?

Yea I complain about Lochte blowing it but Australia didn't even MEDAL. They were the favorites also. That is a huge fall.

Over here it's mostly played by females, and it's fine to watch. Already similar to what we already casually play off-the-ice, just a lot more fucking brutal.

Really no excuse for not at least having a national team good enough to play in the Olympics.
