I don't really understand what are you trying to say. You can't compare professional sports where people make millions and millions of money to Olympics athletes and their sports. If you're salty because some other country is gaining more medals than yours, then you're missing the point of the Olympics.

No, that´s not it because my country has always sucked in the olympics (Brazil), but i don´t know, it just seems like a common thing to all the people i talk to.

If a sport is so irrelevant that nobody plays or watch, then why is it in the olympics? (and some of them having a lot of importance). History showed us they stopped having some when they became obsolete, so what i´m saying is, they need some changes.

Don´t get me wrong, i love some niche sports, but some of the things i watched can´t even be considered a real sport. (Like the horse walking sideways).

yeah that's what i meant lol.

zoe smith won? i know her, i accidentally watched a bbc program on her, she's cool.

No, she came second in Group B, there is still Group A to go, it is unlikely that Zoe will win a medal this time around, but she is only 18 and has a long career ahead of her.

lol... what's this shit? Do you decide which strange show of skill is worthy and which is not? I'm guessing controlling a horse to that level of precision is trivial. Does that count for showjumping too?

(I don't even like the thing, but if you're only focussing on althetic prowess then you'd lose a whole lot of "sports")

Kim Yeon Kyoun is not of this world......

Someone check if her parents farm doesn't have a Space Ship in their barn with a capital "S" on it.

god damn

Everytime the Olympics are around, i get bugged with some of the sports included/not included and how they balance then.

I just read that China won 38 of their 51 golds in 2008 in Diving, Gymnastics, Shooting, Weightlifting and Table Tennis. I reckon that some of those are real big following sports, but that seems weird to me.

I look at Spain, and even tough they don´t win as many medals, if you consider that they have grat teams on the two biggest sports worldwide (football and basketball), and that they have had great success in two other huge sports (autoracing and tennis) they appear to me, a more succesfull country at sports than China.

Goldmining obscure events the way China does only happens because those sports have a different meaning in olympics then they do in real life.

I still can´t believe you can win a medal by making a horse walk sideways, gently, but you can´t by playing golf.

You can win eight golds on diving alone and you can´t win a single one in Rugby or Cricket combined.

If some events would be taken out of the olympics, the "sport" would even exist, so i think that´s sad. I think you would have to had people watching and playing a sport, so that this thing can be big enough to be in the olympics.

Anyways, regular Olympic rant.

Not to mention that several countries have huge winter olympics teams also that draw a lot of talents (like my country Finland) so they might not be as succesful as others during these summer olympics. Although for China's defense they are progressing in other more popular sports dominated usually by western countries. Just look at swimming. It's only matter of time before they are succesfull in pretty much every sport. Dat 1.3 billion population with constantly rising standards of living.

Why does fancing look so stupid? Looks like it requires no skill

My favorite non-US player at the moment. Best Korea's Kim Yeon Koung. 6'3", pretty cute, but has an arm like a Howlitzer. She scores like every other point for her team.

She bad.
