Besides, I thought the major concern with NBC was that they don't even show sports that the US isn't competing in. The BBC shows everything..

NBC's family of networks shows other stuff. The recorded prime time footage is reserved for the competitions which get a lot of eyeballs like gymnastics and swimming. The streaming site
with Youtube has everything on but it is horrid.

It is not - sometimes it is good to keep some aces to your chest and do only as much as you must in qualification. Japan and China athlethes also upgraded their programme with more difficult gymnastic elements

I don't think there's a problem with commentators being biased towards their viewing audience. Just don't think people should bitch at NBC (or BBC) about it. And for some it was probably just a realization that it's the same throughout the world.
