do the cyclists find out the time splits of their opponent?
Terrible decision, the tournament lost four great teams now. It's like disqualifying Brazil or Spain at the World Cup because they tank their last group stage match. Like France just did at the Euros against Sweden.
Or Federer, Djokovic, Nadal and co for throwing away matches in the round robin of World Tour Finals in London. It happens all the time, you don't go all out, you reserve your energy, you try to avoid a certain opponent in the knockout stage. It makes no sense to try win 3 matches in a row and be exhausted for the quarter finals/semis.

How does a bike cost so much? Does it come with a fall-proof system? No.

Anyone else really feel like trying out fencing?
If their manager decides to tell them in the radio, yes.

Deserved, I get playing the game to your advantage but they were just disgraceful, totally disrespectful to the people that bought tickets to see them.

Ahahaha did you even watch the matches?Obviously the weaker teams being salty and complain big time to the official so they have any chance of winning.
Seriously, there is no proof of them losing on purpose unless the officials have recorded media of them discussing of throwing matches.
You can only blame the match format.
I think there's a bit of a difference between not trying your hardest, and purposely trying to lose, right?
Well, that's the thing: Spain, Brazil, Federer, Djokovic, or Nadal would never do shit like this. If these teams were really "great", they wouldn't have to resort to petty tactics like these.
And no, France is not a great team.
I could have beaten them the way they were playing and I'm club level at best.Seriously, there is no proof of them losing on purpose
Not that I agree with any of the 'tactics' these players use to gain advantage but surely they should look more at the way they structure and handle the draws etc for these matches. If you leave any kind of loophole like that someone is always going to try and pull one over. Disqualifying them temporarily 'solves' things but it just seems to be more of a moral issue than anything else as opposed to them operating outside the rules.

Good. They're disgraceful. I hope their reputation remains tarnished.SkyNewsBreak: Eight badminton players accused of throwing matches disqualified from Olympics

There is a difference between tanking a match - playing with the B-team, not fighting hard - and actually scoring own goals on purpose.
These girls hit the net on easy balls, hit the bird way out of the field. They played like juniors.
That's unacceptable.
I think Pooley is out of it. Almost 30 seconds behind at that second check.
Half of those teams didn't even actually throw their matches though. The format put them all in the position of being punished for winning, which is why they all tried to throw their matches.Good. They're disgraceful. I hope their reputation remains tarnished.
The format put them in a position to be punished for winning and rewarded for losing. It's hard to say most professionals would never consider it when all 4 teams in 2 matches tried it.For the badminton players who have been DQ'd, it shows they have a complete lack of faith in their own abilities too. To be an Olympic champion you should be able to go up against anyone and beat them, instead they looked for an easy route because they were scared of getting beaten. Sure the system seems to be broken to allow this to happen, but they don't deserve to be Olympic medallists when they take advantage of a loophole which most professionals would never even consider an option.
It not only makes a joke of the sport they're involved in (and it has been made to look a joke, this is the Olympics watched by billions of people worldwide, its the worst time to ever pull shit like that), but it's entirely unfair to those people who have paid good money to see the best players in the world compete.
Watch this video: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19072677It is disgraceful but they shouldnt be disqualified. Sure, the abused the way the competition was set tup but that's not their fault tbh.
This. It's like complaining that someone doesn't run at full speed in one of the preliminary competitions because he's going to win (and thus automatically qualify) anyway. Then again I've heard it was completely embarassing and they were so bad that I suppose one could argue that it went against the Olympic ideals.
Well, some admitted it. That said apparently it was extremely obvious, didn't watch the matches though.
I don't see the point of whining about it anymore, it's not as if we're responsible for their training or performance.*sigh* another hopeful gone. I swear we're gonna get under 10 gold medals.
Are you serious? The longest rally was four.

The ref walked onto the floor and warned them multiple times to stop it. You can't have that many warnings and expect to get away with something.
Yes, the dumb rules are what triggered this behaviour, but the Olympics have to send a clear message: warnings carry consequences.
