Has anyone won the Tour De France and Olympic Gold in the same year?

SPOTY, Knighthood, everything. The guy deserves it.

And also becomes the highest achieving British olympian with seven medals. Astonishing.

Those two awards are guaranteed to happen now.

Ellison, the US archer 1st in the world is out losing to Australian Worth, another big upset. Meanwhile the Table Tennis final is amazing.

First Greek medal at the London Games, Ilias Iliadis got bronze in Judo 90kg!

Archery seems like a pretty inconsistent sport. Once you let that arrow go there's no guarantee that a gust a wind won't blow it slightly off course and take away your gold medal.

They changed to this format this year to specifically make the sport more random.

It used to be the total score of all the arrows (like shooting events) instead of 3 arrows a set. Now a less consistent and skilled player has a higher chance of winning.

I suppose this is intended to stop the Korean dominance.

We do? I don't. It's a competition of nations, isn't every athlete representing their country patriotic? What do you expect?

Not really, Olympics should be a celebration of sports, this is why nobody boos in the audience. It's about the athletes doing their best, like Bolt breaking the world record, nobody really care if he's is Jamaican or not. But I understand some people use it as a way to say their nation is the best.

China vs. China for table tennis Gold. Eh.
I don't fully understand why they let a country (not just China) have multiple national teams in one event.

We'll boo cheaters like with the badminton.

I like the woman near the Jury in the weight lifting he face always looks miserable and unimpressed when they're lifting

That's the way I see it too, I love the olympics for this. I'm also not butthurt if someone feels proud of their country because their player wins.

The Olympics takes the place of world championship competitions during Olympic years. Many of these competitions are not nation vs. nation competitions, but just athletes competing to be the best in the world. That's why there are multiple entries for those sports.

Think Wiggo just produced the defining moment of the London games...or Boris on the zipline, one of the two.

It isn't fair otherwise. How would you feel if you were second in the world but couldn't go to the Olympics. There are other Jamaicans who could beat almost anyone in the 100 but they can't go because of the others. It's only fair to have a couple people go through.

Because it makes competition better, some country are better than others, that's a fact. If you only allow one Italian in Fencing it's not fair when Italians dominate, same for Table Tennis (it used to be three athtletes, they already changed it so they don't take all three places).

But we're not really trolling when we state simple facts like "we da the bess mane".

I came close to changing my avatar to George Washington with "U mad, world?" for the Olympics... but of course, I'd be met with a picture of Emperor Xin saying "I ain't even mad." lol
