I was watching this, what an epic match, and what a conclusion!! They were exhausted, barely able to grapple each other. Just awesome.

Btw guys you need a clean throw in Judo for it to count as a full point. Don't know what criteria is used for other points though...

Germany's Ovtcharov took the Bronze medal in Table Tennis, that's an amazing feat.
now we wait for the men's finals this afternoon between the 2 Chinese players, should be an amazing match to watch!

This is just awful (sorry if old).

Chinese Diver Wins Gold, Is Finally Told That Her Mother Has Cancer And Her Grandparents Died A Year Ago

http://deadspin.com/5931182/

from reddit:

"The article is not accurate at all, they did not tell her about her grandparents just now.
Source on Chinese yahoo http://news.cn.yahoo.com/ypen/20120730/1211759.html from July 30th with title:
"吴敏霞母亲患癌症瞒女儿八年 亲人去世也曾隐瞒"
which translates to "diver's mother hid the cancer from her for 8 years, also had hidden news of family death at one point."
And in the article it mentions her mother had tumor at one point and did not tell her until she had successfully finished her chemotherapy. As for the grandparents it mentions her parents had at one point hid the news from her, but the word "曾" in Chinese signifies things of distance past in this context."

To score a Ippon and win, you need to throw your opponant on the back with both shoulders on the ground.

If the opponent lands on his site, you get an yuko. If the opponent lands almost completely on his back, you get an waza-ari. If he lands completely on his back, the match is over with an ippon.

There are also strangling techniques that can win a fight, and finally a penalties system (with two penalties giving the opponent an yuko, three giving a waza-ari, and four ending the fight in favor of the opponent.)

Oh, and two waza-ari act as one ippon.

Mexico blew the first set.

Can anyone explain the rules here?

In a set each archer shoots 3 times; who has more points scores 2; in a draw 1 point each

Who gets to 6 points first wins. If the match is 5-5 you have a one arrow shootoff: who gets closer to the center wins.

fucking canoeing and archery are very entertaining to watch.

can't wait to see the "Katniss" effect in 4, 8, and 12 years from now. US might become a major player.
