At what age are males no longer allowed to like cute things?
Little cartoon girls aren't cute. In that style at least.

I don't think grown men are supposed to think preteen girls are so cute that they want to store images of them and partake in media that focuses on them.
If you saw a stranger by himself at the park taking pictures of your nine year old daughter because he thought she looked cute you probably wouldn't react like, "Oh thank goodness I thought there was just something wrong with you!"
I'm not saying that like this kind of art is pedophilia, but the argument that it's not normal to be intensely interested in it and that perhaps it is a damaging thing that may lead one towards thoughts of pedophilia is not ridiculous IMO. Especially not given some of the images from this game. Is an eleven year old girl's underwear 'just cute' too?
Let's put it this way:
What if I had an avatar of some random 12yr old girl.. who isn't my daughter.
Would you find that strange.. or disturbing? Because it would be.
Yep, they are all using a simplistic art style to draw funny/cute faces
They're adorable?
You'd be surprised!I mean, who wants to be a blank CD-R? Or a block of tofu?
Yeah, they're all meant to appeal to pedophiles. You're quite the detective! Or were you implying something else? All those avatars have something in common besides anime.
That is a very sexy owl.Oh crumbs, these avatar assumptions don't work well for me at all, well at least it's not a hatchling Owl up there right?
Playing dumb doesn't really help either. They're adorable?
Oh god, what? This dude killed his family.
No, because it's just an avatar.Let's put it this way:

Liking moe doesn't make you a pedophile, but if you're a grown ass man and think that stuff is cute, then I don't agree with that.

Why not ? Is there an age requirement for liking cute things ?
I am 31 so i guess i am just allowed to like games where i kill stuff dudebro style ? Or is that just for kids ? What should i like ?

Not to you, maybe.Little cartoon girls aren't cute. In that style at least.

Why is your opinion absolute?

DISGUSTING
LOLI ALERT
anyone who gives the series an actual chance realizes it's not some gateway drug to pedophilia.

You know I never really thought about the fact that I have an anime avatar. I always just think of it as 'that guy from Snatcher, the kickass Sega CD game".
I wonder if people judge me as well based on it?

Pretty sure there's a massive difference between taking pictures of someone else's daughter in the park, and enjoying a game involving cartoon girls. Maybe you're right - for some unstable people, this kind of thing could be a gateway to something darker. Just like how violent games could be a gateway for unstable people to take to real-life violence. But like the OP said, lumping everyone who likes a certain style or genre onto an "offenders" list is drastic, and in most cases, offensive.I don't think grown men are supposed to think preteen girls are so cute that they want to store images of them and partake in media that focuses on them.

Also I haven't tried any of these because I have no reason to believe they shrug off the faults only a few JRPG battle systems can.
you take that back or I'm gonna post that Torment is boring a VN.
Cute things are cute. I'll never understand why there is such a stigma for males to like cute things.
Because it's clear that the avatars he quoted are all children yet they don't point that out?How is that playing dumb ?

It gives me a negative first impression of you, I'll be honest.

I actually find the trolls who are well aware of how unreasonable they are being much more annoying than the genuinely clueless.Very great writeup Zel, but I'm not sure why you bother. The people you're addressing aren't going to change their minds as they judge based on looks and not actual content. Yeah, it's annoying, but that's just how the internet is.
They don't, but they mitigate them by not centering the gameplay around battle at all. A bit like Planescape: Torment in that way. Also I haven't tried any of these because I have no reason to believe they shrug off the faults only a few JRPG battle systems can.

I always figured that when people say they hated anime avatars, they just meant the little girl ones.
My avatar is now a cartoon 8 year old boy. Is anyone uncomfortable with me yet?
Is like saying every single video game is a Macho Power Fantasy because Gears of Wars features muscular men killing fictional Reptile Men with fictional chainsawgun

Yours is less cool, but not objectionable. Is my avater too anime for gaf
What would be a good substitute

Repressed homophobia. Hell, most of the time there's nothing "repressed" about it at all.Cute things are cute. I'll never understand why there is such a stigma for males to like cute things.
