Oh man, my grandma called and said there's a ton of traffic close to Port of Spain. :lol :lol

She said that everyone was blaring horns and playing music real loud. My poor grandma, but everyone in Trinidad is clearly celebrating the Gold and the Bronzes.

They're probably gonna fete for several days straight. :O

The Port Of Spain traffic is probably due to the heavy rains we had today. There was some pretty bad flooding earlier in the day. Of course that ain't gonna stop Trinis from partying.

I think it's silly that the Pentathlon isn't started until the last day of competition. Almost all events will be finished by the afternoon except for the Pentathlon.

anyone else feels like crying when the flame is extinguished at the end of each olympics??

such a symbolic moment, its the 2 weeks were people forget about hate and religions to share passion for one thing, and every athelte gives their best. Even the last placed athelete poured their heart for their whole life to get there.

I don't want to see them go :'( I makes me feel so proud to be human....

He never got it back. I was in the crowd.

The Baton? You probably missed it because it was near the corridor. They gave it back to Bolt.

;)

I'm gonna miss the Olympics :(

BBC coverage made it incredible, I don't think
I've watched soo much variety of sports in the space of 2 weeks in my life. All I remember from Beijing was athletics.

At least the football is starting, also Sleeping Dogs is coming out.

Yeah, when I chose to watch BBC for some stuff, their coverage is unparalleled. They do a much better job than CTV cuz they're publicly-funded (and thus no commercials). (Heck we get a BBC news channel here and I don't even think it has commercials from what I've seen.)

One strong impression I get of the BBC with sport is that damn near everyone they're covering seems to *like* and respect them. Big names want to be pundits; big F1 teams allow them into their victory parties.

Fergie aside, of course.

Ah guess I did miss it then! Good to know, and thanks for the pic.
I was sitting near the finish line, but close to the highest point in the stadium. So I had a good birds-eye view of the whole track, but it was tricky to make it who was who in the races, being so far away from it.
It was great that Bolt and the rest of the Jamaican team spent so much time walking around the track after and meeting the crowd, etc. When he came past the section of the stadium I was in everyone went nuts.
Unfortunately I had to miss the victory ceremony where Mo would have gotten his Gold medal as I wanted to leave before the majority of the crowd - had a long way to go home - only just come in.

And somehow you guys managed to defeat us (The Netherlands) at the last Euros. Still bugs me :(

But as an Ajax fan I love Danish football players :)

You guys have other sports you dominate in, so don't worry about it.

Yeah, Erikkson kid is pretty special.... until he leaves for bigger club.

I love Ajax as well

I was a bit further around to your right, closer to the cauldron. Sounds like you were close to the seat I was in last Sunday - did you have lots of international commentary booths to your left?

What? We are ought to slaughter you guys in football (no offense :P). Things didn't go as planned one could say.

That having said, yes Eriksen is quite the player. As is Fischer. And numerous other Danish players from the past.

But this is kinda non olympic stuff :P

Meh, We don't know what football is in the country so I don't mind being slaughtered by any team really.

Handball is where it at. I am surprised that no one likes it here around GAF. Maybe I should make a thread about it. Its an awesome sport. Is it big in Holland?

Yes, that's right. I was in Block 214, row 73, seat 236. Hey, was that your chewing gum I found under the seat? ;-)

Same, weekdays are going to be boring without it. After seven years of anticipation the past two weeks have felt so short. Lots of great Olympic moments, my favourites are Mo Farah's 10k victory(perfect end to that day) and Peter Wilson's gold in the men's double trap.

The last two Olympic games have been brilliant and hopefully Rio will be just as good.

Norway (Pop: 5 mil) 2 Gold, 1 silver and 1 Bronze.

and we are better than them in Winter Sports...

Not good excuse.

Sure, there are countries with smaller populations who get medals. Doesn't mean you can expect other similar-sized countries to achieve the same. I could name several multi-million sized countries with few medals in either Olympics. *shrugs*

Big is large word to describe handball, but yeah quite a few people play it. I have a Handball club just five minutes biking away from my house. But the main sport overhere is Football. And hockey, tennis and judo are also very popular. Mainly the sports in which we do good at a high level.

Cool. Good to know. I live in UK and no one even knows what Handball is. That is why i love the Olympics because it was the first in a while I have watched live and it reminded me how much I love the sport.

It's kind of amazing that, had everything gone as planned, GB could have had 2 or 3 more golds in the cycling. Credit to British Cycling.

It's kind of the complete opposite to our swimming team, which absolutely flopped.

Ugh, watching Canada lose the bronze in that fashion was terrible... seeing the faces of the some of the runners made me want to cry. That is a dream taken from you. That sucked to watch, so I couldn't even begin to imagine what they felt then. Regardless, they did an amazing job though. Proud of them!

The judges made the right call of it being a DQ; can't argue that, but they really fucked up in naming Canada the bronze before they were entirely sure.

The women's 1500m was the biggest pile of bullshit I've ever seen.

ALL of the competitors could have won gold on their qualifying times if they actually put the effort into it.
