This Pentathlon medal is the best. Bronze in a sport that, well, doesn't exist here in Brazil... And yet, she did it.

So much awesome.

Proportionally that guy seems... off.

The United States to European nations medal count comparison is irrational. Each European country can send up to 3 athletes per event, and one team. The USA collectively can only send 3 athletes per event, and one team. Add up the amount of participants the EU sent to the US's. Europe sent hundreds more, giving more opportunities for medals.
Just count the winners then. Those euro's would only send their best.

It would've been 30 golds for GB if it wasn't for the dumb decisions made by the UK Taekwondo officials.

Once the celebrations die off over next week I can see that group of folk being crucified by the sporting press.

'hey should we send the world no 1 fighter and recent world champion... nah, we will send mo', he's world number 1534th so should do fine'

The whole argument is irrational then. Saying the US won because it had more medal than other countries is just as stupid. The only nations that have more people, are developing countries.

And I don't think there is a single european country with over 100 million people. Why would the US ever get less medals than countries that have litterally hundreds of millions less people in them?

Britain can be incredibly proud of our performance.

Some of our gold medalists had no funding whatsoever.

Do we have any other big events in the pipeline?
The next Commonwealth Games in Scotland and Rugby World Cup in England.

It's a shame the World Cup bid wasn't successful.

The European Union needs to combine as one for the Olympics if they want to use that argument.

Sorry but taekwando seems to be a sport in which upsets are quite common so its entirely possible cook could've done worse than whatshisname did

Now the real thing is it would've been 31 if it hadn't been for dodgy french officials at the velodrome

But they would've faced the team that just set 2 world records in prelims and semi finals.

They showed our 34 medals, 11 golds, SEVENTH Nation in the world before the likes of Italy, Australia, Japan or Spain among among many others.

Dodgy french officials lol?
Dodgy boxing officials cost us 2 medals!

GB can be proud. They had a terrific performance and put on a great games. I see a lot of GB reaction that reminds me of how Canada felt during the Vancouver games. It feels real good to step it up in front of the home crowd.
I'm glad GB had good results and often found myself cheering for their success.
