Ironically, It is all about the money. That's why the civil rights of everyone in the country has been systematically dismantled to suit the needs of the IOCs sponsors.
 
While I appreciated the Opening Ceremony's effort effort to do something more personal than the themes of Beijing, world unity etc I can't stand this closing ceremony's constant peddling of British "culture" which in this context seems to have been defined by the playlist of a middle aged director who seems to be completely unaware what the Olympics is about. Sure we can be proud of our music but does it really need to dominate so much? Do we really need to celebrate a parade of drug addled fashion models?
 
IMO they should stick to iconic songs now current day pop. Fatboy Slim could've lead into Chemical Bros, Oasis to Blur etc etc.

Coming from a British person, I agree, would be much more interesting to have acts from all over the world I reckon!
