Maybe ESPN can come up with another billion or so to outbid NBC.

I really hope the BBC keep up their fantastic coverage.

It's been excellent this year, and I've loved switching between 3 or 4 (or more!) events just to keep on top of what's happening - really emphasises how much action is packed into that two weeks.

Would be a shame if they dialled it down, even if 2012 was a special year.

I was really disappointed when New York didn't win it, but thinking of all the construction, congestion, and attention just scared me off quickly.

Congestion was over blown a bit. I will always remind people NYC =/= the island of Manhattan. Queens ad Staten Island are virtually empty spaces lol

New York already has a shit tone of sport venues, hotels etc., most of construction would be updating stuff.

Are you sure we'll bid?

USOC really wanted the 2016 games in Chicago, they even got Obama to visit the IOC to stump for them. They were kicked out of the 1st round of the decision process because the IOC wanted to send a message in no uncertain terms that there would be no games in the US until they solve the revenue dispute.

Chicago should've won because their logo was awesome

I thought most athletes were forced to leave the olympic village after their events ended. Where does everyone go?

Really? I wasn't sure if everyone stayed, but assumed that majority stayed around to support their team/enjoy the atmosphere while awaiting the closing ceremony.

This Olympics made me very excited for the women's 2015 FIFA World Cup. I want to see a Canada vs US-type game. Glad I live in Vancouver and will hopefully be able to attend a game in the city :) I really hope they host the final in Vancouver, but I think it'll probably be in Montreal :P

New York or Chicago will almost assuredly get them in 2024 now that the USOC and IOC resolved their revenue dispute, IOC wants dat American sponsorship cash.

I doubt it will be NYC. A number of the areas where we were going to theoretically build facilities for the Olympics are being used for other construction projects, and there isn't really an abundance of space left for the kinds of things we'd need to build, except maybe way the fuck out of the way in Queens. Plus we JUST built Citi Field, the new Yankee Stadium, and MetLife Stadium over in NJ. MSG is getting a complete interior overhaul currently, and the Barclay's Center out in Brooklyn is only a month or so from opening.

I don't think there's going to be much interest in building even more new major athletic facilities any time soon.

NBC has already managed to pass me in my streaming despite my nearly 30 minute head start and the fact that NBC is running commercials. And that was in only about 45 minutes. Amazing.

NBC's problem isn't really in the time delay.
I at least understand wanting to show certain things in primetime instead of while everyone is at work.

What I don't understand is the choices of sports for primetime coverage (no variety) and showing long winded documentaries instead of sports.

That kinds stuff in addition to a lot of other things

Yeah I've read about that but I still think they'll put in a bid; 2024 is a long time from now. Plus I really wanna see a 54 year old Jay Z signing Empire State Of Mind during the opening ceremony.

Sinatra hologram singing My Kinda of Town in Chicago 2024, believe!

Hopefully the Olympics never come to NYC, the city can't handle another million people along with the usual amount of tourists at the same time, it would be a nightmare to even be in Manhattan and Queens.
