...Not gonna post my review again, but yeah even more so, just read through the thread

Is it in the GAF-Hop thread? Haven't been there for a minute

Checked all through this thread

Very cohesive and the theme is much tighter than Section.80.

This is a pretty damn exemplary of what cohesive means when it comes to albums IMO.

Just what I wanted to hear.

Kendrick has been doing a lot of stupid ass features lately. Was kind of worried

Few more listens and I feel its one of the best albums in the past decade. It's like this blend of the best of 90s hip hop with a contemporary feel that brings it all together.

Some of you lot just jump to conclusions. This as good as Ready to Die? We've hardly even had the album, let it sit for a few months before you say stuff like this.

Yeah, I just don't get all the praise. As good as Ready to Die? Crazy. And smh @ Pharrell comparing Kendrick to Bob Dylan.

edit: never mind, missed the clarification above. Pharrell still gets an smh, though.

For the dude that asked:

GKMC - Kendrick delivers a cohesive album with a strong concept and storyline that offers depth while never feeling forced or in anyway detrimental to the song making process. He showcases a variety of flows, changes pace at will, and is self-aware enough to preach without abstaining himself of guilt. Sure the topics are quite familiar and a bit predictable at times, but Kendrick's passion is pretty much unparalleled. Some of the song structures are quite inventive, as are the beats, which helps the album from feeling repetitive despite its long length. GKMC is an album with layers that might be readily accessible, especially in this age of instant gratification and impersonal swag-toting self-ignorance. It reaches a level of introspection and emotion that other rappers would never touch. It's a shame how unsafe it has become to be real. GKMC is the album Kendrick wanted to make, not the album his studio told him to make.
10/10

Album Lows - Compton, Swimming Pools (Extended Version)
Album Highs - Everything Else

Regarding the hyperboles, fuck it. If you're in love with the album, as I am, then say stupid things. Say that Kendrick is the new Bob Dylan. Say that this album in right up there with Ready to Die. Say that it's one of the top 10 hip-hop albums ever. Say all those stupid things. Cause that's what you do when you're in love.

GKMC has made me go back to section.80 and I have to say I have no idea what I was thinking when I listened to it last year. It was good, gave it a few spins, but it never had staying power for me. But now, damn it's so fucking good. Kendrick is awesome.

Chill guys, I meant that it reminds me of Ready to Die because of its introspective storytelling and themes. Whereas it felt that Biggie put his life story on wax with his debut, it feels like Kendrick has done the same.

They both tell of the Everyday Struggles in their lives and environment

As far as GKMC being up there with the classics, only time will tell, but right now I am loving this shit

Was reading that one of the unreleased target bonus tracks is going to be a black hippy remix of either the recipe or swimming pools.

I like how one of Keisha's (from Section.80) clients is the cousin of Dave, the guy who gets shot in this story. As well as making Sing About Me more effective by having both characters he speaks as being linked, it's an effective way of also linking this story into Section.80.

At first I thought his rapping about/as her was a little unnecessary as she didn't have anything to do with the narrative but Kendrick got that right too.

Shake from 2dbz said it was recorded last night in vegas. So its not on any deluxe version.

He does mention Vegas and the leak, so it must be true. Damn this guy, at this rate we would be able to drop a second album this year and it would be the second best of 2012.

Btw, that would be a Kanye-level pretentious song, if GKMD wasn't the album that it is.

Too bad he dropped his album this week. He won't be number 1 up against taylor swift.
