BestBuy has updated their website - all the BestBuys in my region state that they have Wii U in-store. Note that only two of those BestBuys are holding midnight launches.

I really gotta say that this hour+ update on Day 1 that adds Essential system features like the fucking Network functionality is very disappointing.

Decided at 11:40 that I had to give into the midnight hype. Headed towards town, calling Walmart on the way. All of their systems were already allocated. Arrived at best buy at exactly midnight. There were about 50 people in the store, and no extra systems. I am quite surprised.
At least I get to pick up my reserved deluxe at 9 am from GameStop. The update was the final push to try for the midnight, oh well.

Do you lose anything if you first register your NNID in another Wii U then sign in to your own Wii U a few weeks later?
A friend wants to reserve his username before he gets his own Wii U, which he can't get until a few weeks later. Will he miss out on any special offers? He still gets the Deluxe Digital promo, right?

Pretty sure there's no way to transfer a Nintendo Network ID between systems yet. Could be wrong, would have to see what happens when someone tries to link an already existing ID.

WalMart says they only have 9 units for non preorders right now and it's split nearly 50/50 basic vs deluxe. I hope the people in front get basics. Hope they dont magically run out even though I'm 7th in line with nobody behind me
Im working, so it wont matter until tomorrow.
Plus tomorrow being a football Sunday and relatives coming in for Thanksgiving, I probably wont get around to playing it until late at night.

All it does is ask for the manufacturer of your TV. And then it works. Nothing else you need to do. Crazy.

From there it was all business. The preorders got ours first and then the first come first servers got theirs.
All together they had 8 preorders for the store and 4 first come first serves. So it seems that many were just going to come in tomorrow and pick theirs up.

I wish the guy on the phone today would have told me they weren't going to open the doors for people camping for Wii U. You know, instead of saying "yes, we will open the doors for people camping for Wii U".
No way I'm freezing my nuts off for that thing. So before I went home, I checked out some other locations near my house. Surely some lines have been formed by now. This was at midnight.
Future Shop: Noone.
Wal Mart: Noone.
Toys R Us: Noone.
Best Buy: Noone.
EB Games: Noone.
EB Games 2: Noone.
Yeah. Compare this to the Wii launch in 2006. I went to Best Buy at 11PM and was 11th in line. By 3AM, the line was full and we were sending people away. Apparently the Toys R Us and EB Games nearby were totally packed as well.
How is this thing sold out again? Where are the crazy soccer moms?
I think I'll just be picking up my pre-ordered console at 8AM tomorrow. Save the campout for the new Xbox next year
yeah i just checked stores around my area. not a single person in line, the ebgames 5minutes before 12 had no one in store other than employees. when wii launched it was packed with people scrambling to find units. back to gamecube like sales figures for nintendo i guess.
The ui is slick but quite slow. I hope they can optimize it in future patches... I hate how something like system settings is a separate program that has to load up. About to jump into Nintendo land but it had to download an update for that as well.
nintendo never improved the wii ui so i wouldnt expect improvements with wii u.
Yeah, only for a bit though. Maybe 20 minutes. Put it back on the dock to charge while it's updating.

Gamespot says ZombiU sucks and Super Mario Bros U seems identical to Super Mario Bros Wii and is getting mediocre reviews so now i'm not sure what to get if I buy the system. I guess Black Ops II?

Got mine! Got home about an hour and a half ago.
There were 40+ people in the line at Best Buy tonight. They had 29 Deluxe systems and 14 Basic ones by our count, which might not be completely accurate. They had one black Pro Controller and like 10 white ones, first dude in line got it. (I was number four.) =/ So I'll just wait, I don't think I need it for any games in the immediate future, especially with Wii U VC being a big question mark right now.
