I'm being facetious on that one anyway. But it is nice on my Android tablet to always have the clock showing.Oh you're right. Hmm weird

That's odd. I have an option to turn off the rumble of my gamepad in the controller settings.Only option I see in there is the ability to link Wiimotes and to turn off the screen.
Just, ugh.Nope. I had to adjust my TV to take this into account. Every menu and every game was cutting off the outer borders. Works now though.
The ever-growing issue with HD consoles messing up the OS clock. First ps3 for years and now this!I'm being facetious on that one anyway. But it is nice on my Android tablet to always have the clock showing.
So far I've been having a blast with my wii u. I guess I should be hating it more and complaing but I haven't been this happy to own a new game system in years. System feels like a whole box of fun full of all kinds of quirky Nintendo goodies. Miiverse is a blast. I love drawing so I plan to spend a lot of time doing late night doodles. And new super Mario is great fun. Also realized my wii games look and sound a bit better on wii u.
So far so good! Consider me one happy customer.
Just, ugh.
That makes no sense.
And I won't be able to correct that on my setup.
I keep seeing this.
Is the Wii U really not doing 1:1 pixel mapping here?
I think that happens for all the OS apps - browser, friend list, etc. Switching to the home button menu and back takes quite a while because of that.Does anyone else get kicked out of apps (without warning or anything) when they press the Home button? Specifically while in the eShop, Miiverse?
Okay now where's the list of positive impressions?
- NSMBU is good
- Nintendo Land is fun
- Most of the OS functionality is good (chat, Miiverse) - some ppl even like the UI
- Browser/YouTube is good for most
- Some people have had very positive experiences with OffTV play
- Yoshi's Land Wii U probable
- 5 years of high quality Nintendo first party titles upcoming
Looking at stock near Targets around me, there are still quite a few stores in stock.
It really is and I'm glad it got its own dedicated button on the pad. Very easy to change the volume while playing a game without having to scrounge around for the TV remote.Dont forget TV remote use is awesome lol.
Some Toysrus in my area still have it in stock as well.Looking at stock near Targets around me, there are still quite a few stores in stock.

Dumb question: Does the Wii Classic Controller Pro work for the Wii U? Noticed that there is one that is specifically for the Wii U, just wondered if that meant the one for the regular Wii didnt. Sorry, just jumped aboard this train today, no knowledge of it before hand!
It's not just you, the rumble is pretty weak...Feels like it's coming for the left-center side of the touch screen.
So, do we have like a list of all the disappointing reveals?
- Ports being subpar
- Account being tied down to one singular piece of hardware
- Loading times
- Disappointing hardware tear down
- OS/Game hangups
- foreground game update/download installation
- no clock on the main menu
The slow OS is the only glaring flaw for me right now. It can really take a while to switch to the Miiverse. Hopefully, they're preparing refinements in time for the Japanese launch.
Beyond that, we have the usual console launch shenanigans -- crappy ports.

I got Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U and Tank! Tank! Tank!...and oddly enough I have found myself playing Tank! Tank! Tank! the most. The game is shallow, stupid fun.

Yeah, who isn't excited by the prospect of a TV remote that needs to be specifically turned on, requires two-handed operation, has a battery life of about 3,5 hours active, doesn't work independent of another device and can't control devices found in many home TV setups (like AV receivers).
Just opened my wii u, does anyone else's sticks feel like there grinding on something if you move them in a circular motion?
The Wiiu pads refresh is stupid fast, enough so that my parents' lg TV is really showing its response time lag when I go from one screen to the other. I'll have to see if my tv can stand it once I move back into living at my own place, but I'm starting to think I'm gonna have to get a new, more capable tv...
Mine are buttery smooth. Sounds like you might have an issue. :-(
Yup just looked at the plastic and its all jaggy. Fuckin bullshit, of course the console is sold out so I'm fucked. Will Nintendo replace controllers.

Blame TV manufacturers for their terrible products that still implement overscan cropping when it doesn't have any reason to still exist on digital inputs. We are not receiving our console's pictures via antenna
I'm very certain that Nintendo will patch the safe area issue in a future update.
Many TVs arbitrarily crop 5% of each side of displayed pictures, which degrades image quality due to the additional interpolation needed (picture is "blown up") as well as creates a loss of a pretty significant amount of display area.
1:1 pixel mapping has nothing to do with how a console generates an image. It typically signifies (in marketing speak) a TV that is capable of displaying an image as it is received via HDMI (from the Wii U) - which is how it should be, but sadly isn't in many instances. Console manufacuters therefore have to account for the fact that most TVs are horrible, terrible products. Nintendo evidently didn't.![]()
yeah you can get in touch with customer service. probably get them to send you a controller out before you send yours in if you are nice.

It actually isn't. The lack of support for stereo receivers completely negates its usefulness to me.
