Would love GC support but i am still bummed out they don't support GC controllers :(

RIP Wavebird.

Yeah, I think that GC will be rereleases, especially since some of their more popular titles (Mario Sunshine, SSBM) use analog triggers, which none of the Wii U controllers can do.

Best Buy has a 1TB Portable External HDD Seagate on sale right now for $69.99 vs. the regular price of $99.99. It is part of the Black Friday deals and was able to order with in-store pick up just a few minutes. Almost every best buy in my area had as available.

Oh and Sklanders Giants for Wii U is on sale at TRU for $49.99. Apparently, they had no signs, but when scanned it rang up for the same price as the other platforms.

Lastly, TRU has extened the Buy 1 get 1 for 40% off till tomorrow night as well.

I need some immediate feedback on the following games for teh Wii U and how well the port job is before I buy some games tomorrow.

NBA 2k13
Assassins Creed 3
Mass Effect 3

ME3 I read and saw the digital foundry analysis and it seems to be better than the PS3 version, but slightly below the 360 version, but hte game pad funtionality to me makes it a better choice...but still would love to get anyone's input on it that has it. If you played the other 2 listed, any feedback would also be appreciated.

NINID: Hawk269, feel free to add me and mention GAF.

The Pro Controller should have just been the GC pad, with a second proper analogue stick instead of the C-Stick, and some R1/L1 buttons instead of Z.

Bam. You've got the best controller ever made.

They need to create GC Pro Controllers or something. The Pro controller has been horrible with Tekken Tag 2. I'm going to return it to Target and use the credit to get eShop points or something.

Okay I finally got my retail purchases for the rest of the year finished. Just put in an order at ToysRUS for New Super Mario Bros U and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. Buy 1 and get one 40% is something I couldn't pass up. Bringing my retail games to the following.

ZombiU
Black Ops 2
Nintendo Land (with system)
New Super Mario Bros U
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge

Tekken and Batman can be gotten sometime next year. Next up are Lego City Undercover, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101 and Monster Hunter 3 as the next games to buy. Those are the ones announced so far. Bayonetta 2 doesn't have a release date so it's not included yet. There are of course still Trine 2 and Nano Assault to get as well as Paper Mario (early next year).

I have to say I actually like playing Pikmin Adventure more than the actual Pikmin games! For starters, I don't feel like shit whenever I lose my Pikmin. And secondly, I like that the co-op lets the other players be super pikmin. It's Pikmin in its more stripped down raw nature and I like it.

I also have to say the Zelda game is great and once again, I'm enjoying it more than I ever did Skyward Sword. Great art style and fun co-op mechanics. Anybody who isn't playing NL multiplayer is really going to miss out on the greatness of this game.

I completely forgot about Lego City. It is not out yet right? It looked fantastic at E3.

Web browser seems to be pretty fast, using it right now.

Agreed, the web browser is nice and the browsing experience is fast. I could really see using this as a web browsing device and or media device if html5 was more widely used and the machine worked with Bluray/DVD. Kind of hoping MS or Sony have a tablet controller that will function with their systems next gen.

So I'm seeing posts on other forums urging people not even to open their Pro Controllers and return them?

What's the deal?

They suck.

Pros:
- It functions

Cons:
- Buttons shouldn't be placed where they are since it feels uncomfortable
- Controller feels wider than a 360 controller
- The material used feels off to me.
- Controller feels too light

I've been using a 360 controller since launch so a lot of this stuff + things I can't think of off the top of my head make this controller unusable.

Damn dude really? Have you had the opportunity to try it out with other games? I'm trying to get one just because, I like to have options. But newegg doesn't want to stock them :(

Huh? It's great

Edit: after seeing some complaints above, more comment:

- no such thing as too light. Period.
- buttons play great. Only wish ZR/ZL were analog
- plastic is fine and not slippery
- thumb stick placement is BETTER IMO. Pro controller is primarily for move & look games (like FPS or third person shooters), and as a result the resting position for your thumbs should be the thumb sticks. In BLOPS 2, I only tap a face button once or twice a minute. Feels great.

The only other game I have that supports it is Sonic Racing, but I haven't tried it out. I feel as if it's more built around FPS games than for anything else.

I wonder when they're gonna announce a first batch of VC games. How long did it take 3DS and Wii to get some?

I kinda want to play REmake and Luigi's Mansion on the pad

Best Buy has a 1gig Portable External HDD Seagate on sale right now for $69.99 vs. the regular price of $99.99. It is part of the Black Friday deals and was able to order with in-store pick up just a few minutes. Almost every best buy in my area had as available.

You might want to take that back. 1gig for $70 is a huge ripoff :P

It got moved to launch window.

Oh yeah I forgot about Rayman Legends as well. Add that to list but that largely depends on how much I want it when it finally comes out. I wanted that as a launch day game over Mario but it got pushed back.

Really??? Just checked amazon and newegg and this same drive is 20bucks more on those sites. Also looking at the other options, the average price for a portable external hdd at 1tb. oh wait, I just noticed I put 1gig instead of 1tb. oooppps.....hehehehee will fix that right now!

I've actually never played Luigi's Mansion. Just never happened. I hope it ends up on there.

Well, the controllers purpose IS FPS games. They said as much when they unveiled it

It's no good for fighters so how am I supposed to play Smash with it or any other fighter for that matter? That's not even the main issue with it. The button placement is bad. My thumb is always in an uncomfortable position when I aim to press a button. I'm not sure why they didn't just swap the button and the second stick. It would have been more tolerable.

Buy longer thumbs?

I love it but that's just, like, my opinion, man

It has less to do with the length of my thumb and more of the joint that connects the thumb to my hand, but that's just me. Like I said earlier, I've been using a 360 controller for the most part of this generation so it's more of a dip in quality (aside from the DPAD) when comparing it to the 360 controller, which works well for FPS titles as well as other genres.

lol. The only problem I can see with it (I don't have one) is the stick being above the buttons. But I would think you could get over this after a bit of use. I dunno.

Speaking of Super Smash Bros., I wonder how they'll use the gamepad. I was thinking the person with the gamepad could be the one who chooses power ups and throws them in. Could even troll and favor some players and throw a power up right at them. FAVORITISM!

Hawk,

I bought assassins creed 3 two days ago and have 15 hrs logged in. I was hesistent at first but i can assure you this is a fine port and the game is just overall so so good. I havent been this hooked to a AAA title since red dead redemption. Being able to play this on the gamepad, which runs so well, is a major plus.

Didn't know you could do this. Def sways me some on getting the game on Wii U eventually. I also hope Newegg throws out some more sales again. Would be nice to get $10-15 off some future games.

I too have been using the 360 controller more than anything else since 2006, and its a great pad (but for the dpad). Only downside is the weight for me. After a few hours the wireless 360 controller hurts my wrists.

Now when the console is out I hope Nintendo will deliver a few good sequels from the GameCube that I'm dying to play lol Fallow-ups to games like Wave Race: Blue Storm, 1080 Avalanche, Luigi Mansion, F-Zero GX or Eternal Darkness would be awesome on a new system.

Anyone looking forward to it or am I the only one lol

No, it's nothing like that, because my PC isn't made by Valve. This whole account deal is being SERIOUSLY overblown, it's not a big deal at all. It really only makes a couple things less convenient and keeps people from installing their games on their friends' consoles. The only way you could lose your downloads would be if you somehow lost your console. And even then, depending on how it was done, there's still a chance you could convince Nintendo to activate your account on a new console (they did so with the Wii now and then).

Yes, the 3DS does allow it, as long as you have both systems.

it's almost 2013, they need to get with the times. It has nothing to do with piracy or sharing games, Xbox Live has dealt with content ownership just fine for years. MS even has a reasonable restriction on installing games to the HDD that requires you to have the game in the drive to play it. I have been taking my Live profile and multiplayer XBLA games over to a friends house all gen for some awesome gaming fun, and he never gets access to anything I own because it is tied to my portable profile.

I have also gone through many 360's this gen due to hardware failures, but the content I have purchased isn't stupidly tied to a console. I shouldn't have to call anyone and convince them to give me access to anything I purchased. I just won't buy anything digital on the WiiU until Nintendo fixes this. It's a shame because the core console features really benefit having a digital library of games you can pickup and play without being tied to a couch and big TV.

I would love those games, but I doubt we will ever see them. I'm curious how quickly they can pump out first party titles since they're developing stuff for a HD console and the 3ds.

I'm 90% sure the Wii had it day one, and 100% sure it was within a month or so. The Wii came out in November, and I believe Super Mario Brothers went live for the VC on Christmas Day. I could be mistaken, but I know I had SMB shortly after getting my Wii, as it was the only game I owned that I liked for a while.

You wouldn't have to - you misunderstood me. That's the normal way things work, if your system breaks, then when you send it to Nintendo, they will send a new one back with your account transferred to the new device. This is how it has worked with the Wii since day 1. The only time you would have to call them and try and convince them to do it would be if you somehow lost the device - meaning, someone stole it or your house burnt down or something. Losing your console entirely is the one and only case that you could possibly lose your games. So that's why it's not as huge a deal as everyone is making it that the account is tied to your hardware.

As for that XBox Live thing, you realize your friend can still log into your account after you leave, right?

I'm the exact opposite. I sort of prefer the weight. Not sure why but it feels good. :P

no he can't. I carry my profile on a usb stick. Even if I left my profile on his console, he would have to know my password and recover the profile again when I claim it back on my console. It's a stupid way to try to share games. Only one person can have access the profile at a time.

Even if you ignore Xbox Live, since it's been around for 10 years, I've been able to freely move my Apple profile and purchases every time I get a new ipad. Nintendo looks outdated.

I'm really not hating on nintendo, I ran out and paid $500 for all my wiiu stuff for a reason. I'll still buy their first party stuff, just a physical version. I'm just griping about a core design choice they made for their new network.

Same here, I don't like it when controllers are too light - I much prefer the PS3's DualShock 3 over the SixAxis just because of the weight.

Yep. The DualShock 3 actually feels like the perfect weight to me. Doesn't feel like a piece of hollow plastic like the SixAxis but it's not enough to make you notice. For me, the only thing the 360 controller is best at is FPS games. I prefer the DualShock 3 for everything else.

Anyone using Wii LAN Adapter for a wired connection for Wii U online?

Can you report your speeds? I found out my Wireless provider sucks at downloading AC3 it just drops my speed to really low showing 44hours left right now.

Thinking of getting High Speed Cable or something with 50+Mpbs download I just want to know if the Wii LAN Adapter can handle it.

I've been using one since day 1. It does everything much faster than my wifi connection.

Well, looking at the bright side, at least Nintendo lets you use digital content across 12 accounts on the same system. Still, one step forward, two steps back I guess.

Considering Sony and Microsoft do the same on their consoles, I don't see the step forward.

I've had one since the Wii... I have a 100mbps cable connection... I think the download speeds are faster than Wi-Fi, but most of the slowness is the throttling from Nintendo's side, not necessarily the WIFI router

Same experience here. Too bad there's no way to bypass their throttling :(

Yeah, they need some Citrix netscaler load balancers and multiple 100 meg Internet connections stat.

So are you saying I would be getting the same shitty speeds from eShop if I had your cable speeds?

So this is normal?

I'm guess all the new Black Friday shoppers are downloading the update tonight?

I've been playing Black Ops 2 for the wii u and it seems to be an enjoyable experience, possible purchase. Though one thing, using the gamepad over an hour has put some stress on the left side of my hand, not sure if it was because I was laying down or what.
