OK, that explains why there's this weird twisted idea that NoE's Club Nintendo is so good. People see some images and assume they are rewards. Yes, we sometimes have good one of things like the Mario Kart 7 trophies but those cost points and often those good prizes come out after everyone's points have expired or sell out faster than you can say "Club Nintendo being good is a myth". We don't get a bonus reward for saving up a certain number of points by the end of the year.
The point i am making is you actually get rewards worth getting points for.

If i didn't buy extra 3DS cases and Pouches i would have over 2k points just sitting on my account, now i have 1100. I would rather have trophies and coins than towels and folders. The idea of Club Nintendo is great they just never offer anything worth redeeming points for :-/ On occasion a decent Wii VC game will appear but that's about it. Gamestop has a better reward store than club nintendo and that's pretty sad.

Does anyone know whether the backwards compatibility of Wii U is region locked? I.e. can I play my PAL Wii games on a North American Wii U?

Same question for the 3DS too, can I play my PAL DS games on a 3DS bought in US?

Yeah

No idea why, maybe out of stock

Ordered it on the 16th

Go into store and get a preorder. My local had two ZombiU bundles in the cabinent behind the counter, and I got the guy to stick my name on one just to doublely make sure! Ha.

I just saw a Wii U ad at the Danish TV station TV2 Zulu. Was really not expecting that, but it was a great ad! (The UK one with ZombiU and Nintendo Land). Wii U in only four days!!

Anecdotal evidence here, but the GAME I went into earlier only had two Zombi U packs left available to preorder, one of which now has my name on it.

They had all but one of their premiums snapped up already, and only two Basics left. 9 people, now 10, confirmed coming to their midnight opening. And this isn't a big store either.

Anyway. The Zombi U pack is a brilliant deal for £349.99. Considering that the standard premium is £309.99 in store, paying an extra £40 for Zombi U AND a pro controller is great. Basically getting either the game or controller free, depending on which way you see it.

You don't get Nintendoland with the ZombieU pack.

I asked earlier in the thread, and it's still region locked apparently. :(

I probably won't bother doing the system transfer tbh. There doesn't seem to be any benefit to doing it, and I want to still be able to play my US games.

Edit: The 3DS plays different-region DS games just fine though. Most of my DS games are from the US (I like those slim cases :p) and they all work fine on my UK 3DS.

You are mistaken, good sir. Nintendoland does not come with the ZombieU pack, therefore you are paying the Premium cost but for ZombieU instead of Nintendoland, and then an extra £40 for the controller.

Premium + Nintendoland = 309.99

Premium + ZombieU = 309.99 (+ Controller = 349.99)

Both the Wii U and 3DS :S?

Edit: Never mind didn't see your edit; guess I will just get a 3DS.

Just been into my local GAME and both Basic and Premium are sold out. Not sure how many ZombiU packs are left.

This is in addition to our local HMV, who stopped taking ALL pre-orders about 3 weeks ago.

Must admit I wasn't expecting sell outs at all.

My Sonic Racing download finally finished while I was asleep. Now it's taking an hour five to install! Oh, Nintendo...

Funny, I downloaded Sonic Racing as well and the download probably took a good 5 hours...big pain in the ass if you have to install them as well for over an hour each.

I was hoping to go disc-less with this system, but if this is the regular process it may not be so awesome.

Hopefully Sonic Racing is as boss a game as it looks to make up for the wait!

Where are you? My local store, Chichester, is tiny. I couldn't believe there'd be a midnight launch!

Mine took over 36 hours to load, and I generally have good speeds. Yeah, I was also thinking of going digital in the future, especially with games that I know never see price drops (looking at you, Mario games), but this is a little silly.

I never had this issue when downloading with the 360. Did it install as it downloaded or something? I never downloaded games this big, but I downloaded some of their larger marketplace games, and I don't remember the process being this painful.

Looking for a little input from people who have had more time to mess around with the Gamepad TV remote functionality (not that there is too much to mess w/) I have an LG 2012 TV, and it uses one of those stupid Magic Remotes (the pointer one, it's stupid) and as of right now, my Gamepad is set up to control my DVR and my TV. But I can't switch inputs. When I hit input, it goes to the input menu on the TV, but I have no way of selecting the specific input, it just cycles between two.

Does anyone have a similar tv to mine and using the Gamepad? Are there any ways around this? Just curious!

If using the D-pad doesn't let you change the input, I don't think there's a way to get it to work.

Scrolling up and down with the analog sticks instead of only pressing the INPUT button should work. That's how I do it. I have a samsung that grays out ports not in use, but when I use the analog stick I can scroll through the whole list without any problems.

Yeah, scrolling isnt a problem for me, it's selecting. Because when I press any of the face buttons, it controls the DVR and not the TV. So, I can switch inputs through the menu but not select them and therefore can't change between inputs.

Stupid LG TV input, it's a menu instead of just cycling through all the active inputs.

Luckily Sony got me used to shit like this, or else I'd be really annoyed by something like this.

Yeah, I forgot that downloading and installing on the PS3 is also a huge pain in the ass. Still doesn't take as long, once you finally get it started, though.

Hrm. Yeah, I don't know, man. I misunderstood your original post. I didn't even think about having two separate devices run off of the same gamepad.

Imagine what the install of AC3 is like at 17 gig if Sonic Racing at 5 gig takes over an hour. Sony at least lets you download and install it and then shut itself off. Then you wake up and its all done. Only option on Wii U at the moment is to download and shut off.

Yea, It's all good. I could just keep using the DVR remote, and use this for TV functionality. When I had the TV and only the TV set up, the face buttons would let me switch between input, but the DVR added in disables the face buttons for TV support.

Could just wait for a hopeful update to add more functionality, in the future, I spose.

I returned my Deluxe Wii U, unopened, so hopefully some kid that asked Santa for one ends up with it. I may buy one again in 2013 when Platinum starts releasing their games for it, but for now there is nothing I HAVE to play.

Why'd you return it, if the games you want to play come out in a few months. Needed the money? Why didn't you sell it for profit?

Yeah, that's unfortunate still. What I would recommend is just pairing the gamepad with the TV. What I like about it is being able to play from my bed by picking up the controller, powering on the system and the TV, then being able to control the volume all from the gamepad. Hopefully they expand the functionality in the future, because it really is a very neat feature.

Only 4 days until Nintendo releases the Wii U in Germany *_*

And I have two questions:

1) Is it clear whether the Deluxe Pack will include Nintendo Land's case?

2) Is it possible to play NSMB U without a TV?

Thanks for answering my questions <3

1) Yes, it includes the case. No Club Nintendo codes with the system or Nintendo Land. You have use your Wii U to connect to your Club Nintendo account to get points for both.

2) Yes it is!

1) The Deluxe in NA does come with a case, i assume it's the same everywhere else.

2) Yes. NSMBU can be played on the gamepad as well as Nintendo Land, Black Ops 2, Scribblenauts, Sonic Racing, Assassins Creed 3 and i think Ninja Gaiden. I haven't played Ninja Gaiden so i am not 100% sure.

I downloaded AC3
and NG3 the same night I did not notice the installs as much as the download taking forever and still had to wait until morning when I ordered at 7pm

I still think the digital copies are worth the download when you and the gamepad are away from the TV and Wii U and you don't have to get up and walk over to change disks.

You just have to plan you download and install times as no gaming times

as exciting as getting your hands on a game is, I think downloading Zelda HD and waiting for it will be hard but still.

One thing about AC3 when I was downloading I posted on Miiverse that this will be my first AC game experience. Somone replied "Too bad you digital copy will be lost in your system if your Wii U broke :(" <= that was the reply.

I had to scratch my head that someone is expecting a my Wii U to break and also for Nintendo to never update a way to transfer your games from old hardware to new.

3DS transfers have a 5 transfer limitation but I would expect as least the same type of option in the coming months.

I was just thinking man that dude cannot be happy for me and has to wish me some bad luck after waiting all this time downloading

I'm pretty sure we'll get a case for NintendoLand. We got one for Wii Sports and the US didn't... if even the US are getting cases this time round, then we should be sorted :p

not really. game are replacing nintendoland with zomibu, so you're paying £40 for the pro controller.

I think a lot of people on Miiverse are worried that the frequent hardware lockups are being caused by hardware failures, when in fact it's poorly written netcode causing it to happen (Miiverse). They'd have more piece of mind if the account system wasn't so bad, though.

Is there a way to avoid that until a patch? Can you turn off Internet access for miiverse while still being able to access the store?

I don't think so. I think it's fully integrated into the system's online functionality. With that said, I have yet to have ANY problems whatever, and I've been playing this thing pretty darn frequently since purchase, with multiple titles and frequent Miiverse usage.

is the 3ds transfer system comparable? don't you need your old 3ds to transfer content a new one? if nintendo couldn't it right there, what makes everyone think they will get it right on the wii u?

Ordered an ethernet adapter since the Wii-U can't see/connect to my Wireless N 5ghz network and I have to connect to my guest network that's set up as G. I'd have a lot more peace of mind being wired anyways...although someone earlier was saying that things were actually slower with their ethernet adapter vs. WiFi?

...going to hope that's a 1-off and not the norm when it comes to the ethernet adapter.

My router is literally a foot away from the Wii-U so it's not so much about signal strength as it is about having a stable/solid connection. Basically I want to ensure that if anything is being slow, it's on Nintendo's end and not my Wireless G network speeds.

Also kind of annoyed that Black Ops 2 is basically the only launch game not up on the eShop, as I'd love to jump online and feel like a god considering I keep reading about the super small number of folks online. Would be really fun to one of the dominant few that play online regularly, and it sounds like the MP side of BOps is actually rock solid on the Wii-U.

Tonight's going to be my first extended play session with the console, and I suspect it will be a lot of Sonic Racing. Really looking forward to that game...and it wasn't even on my radar.

Three moar dais.

time is definitely passing a lot slower. I don't know how I am going to keep it together until friday.

9.30am is when my local game opens, my local hmv also opens at the same time. it takes me 45 minutes to get home game, so as long as there is no traffic and such, I'll have 6 hours and 15 minutes to play until I have to go to work.

it's not enough.

Why not connect through your guest network? As long as it doesn't need a web login to get out to the Internet you should be fine - it should be firealled away from your LAN so no security issues

Oh I do. I'm hooked up to the G network now and that's how I've been using it...I just would much rather it be on my 5ghz N or wired. Getting an ethernet adapter is cheap enough so I'm going that route vs. setting up a 2.4 ghz N network just for the Wii-U.

I'm old school in that I still think gaming should be done through a wire vs. wireless...especially when dealing with G vs. N vs. 5ghz N.
