This was my first time seeing the load time between different menus though and holy mother of fuck are they bad. That wasn't overblown in the least bit and its a bit embarrassing that it is taking this long to download a one gigabyte update. And apparently all it takes for the WiFi connection to stop working is for you to lightly touch the console as I did to move it when the update was like 75% done. I was scared shitless that it wouldn't resume downloading the update from where it left off, luckily that's one thing they did right.

Wait until you see how long it takes to install something you download. Essentially you shouldn't plan to play any new game you buy from the Nintendo Wii U shop on the day you buy it.
 
Is there any consensus on what release day games are must haves?

I'm looking at getting Mario & ZombieU but would like a couple more to play.

Sonic Racing. BLOPS2 is similar in price to the other versions, but has technical issues that hold it back. Darksiders is similar in quality, but overpriced. ME3 isn't on par with the 360 technically, and is far far behind in both price and available DLC. Better off sticking with Mario, Sonic, and ZombiU if it interests you. At least until the prices drop to where they are on other consoles.

Those two you mentioned are good but make sure to check out Nano Assault from the eShop. It's an addicting twin stick shooter that pleasantly surprised me.
 
Do your friends' posts automatically show up in Activity Feed, even without following them? I thought you had to follow them too, but I'm pretty sure I saw some posts in my feed from friends whom I didn't follow. (Memory is a bit hazy which is why I ask)

Skylanders Giant

Batman

Tekken 2

Mass Effect 3

Everyone of those games have special Wii U unique features !

Thank goodness Zelda will release on a Sunday midnight. That way we can actually have it download and auto install while we sleep to have it on release day that morning.

Unless it's over 15 gigs  :-(

Does anyone know when the Wii to Wii U transfer channel for the Wii Shop will go live for the rest of the world ? Should we expect it to go up when Wii U launches tomorrow ?
 
Got a shopto dispatch notification. My WiiU should arrive tomorrow. Nice birthday present to myself (I always have such good taste)
 
Really starting to feel the hype for this now. I've pretty much spent the last month changing my mind from day to day about which model to go for, if I want it at all, but now I'm all set.

Also thinking of adding Sonic Racing to my launch too. General concensus is that the Wii U version is good, right? Does it have Off-Screen play? What are the control options for a second player? Can my wife use a Wiimote or am I going to have to pick up a Pro Controller?

Oh and happy birthday mrklaw!

I grabbed this too. Good price and the impressions in the OT are good. Supports off-screen play, multiplayer with one on TV one on gamepad, I think up to five player local multiplayer (four on TV one on gamepad) and lots of combinations of controllers (should definitely support wiimotes).

Could you not have returned it to a GameStop store directly? Maybe it's different in the States, but EBGames in Canada accepts online returns in-stores.

I'm sure I could have, but I would have been out the original shipping cost I believe. Selling it on Amazon left me $3 short instead of $11 short. Not much of a difference, but I figured I would just list it on Amazon and see what happens. I was shocked it sold so quickly and for well over retail price.
 
bought Zombi from the eShop yesterday, wasn't expecting that much of a game and.... OMG Is this game nerve wrecking, the atmosphere is superb, loving every little bit of it. Yurope, don't miss it.
 
Ok I gotta admit I am impressed by this whole Pikmin animation thing during the Wii to Wii U transfer process.

Especially when that last little guy almost didn't make it into the rocket.

And holy fuck, both NSMBU and Nintendoland had long ass updates too, FUCK.

Let me guess, Zombi U has a big update too right?

Nope, it's very small, actually, took me 4 minutes to download. :-)
 
Well, just got an email from Zavvi saying Black Ops 2 Wii U is being dispatched today. Even 2nd class post here is generally 2 days so I should get it on Friday at the latest. Just waiting on ZombiU from them and Amazon to confirm the dispatch of the Wii U itself.

Starting to get excited now to see my new console!
