God I'd kill for another one of those too. Good one mind you in the vein of Destruction Derby 1 & 2.
Dunno if you missed it but there is a Carmageddon coming. Was kickstarted successfully by the studio that made the originals.
So let's get this perfectly clear. If some one says all Kinect games flopped and you counter by showing that 10 games sold over a million then you have to own stock in Microsoft.
So let me also get this clear, if you average selling 12 million a year and your game sells, then that means it's gathering dust because a random profile on GAF says so.
So let's do the biased math. If Kinect is gathering dust, and it had titles last year that outsold every retail exclusive release on the PS3, then by YOUR logic the PS3 is with a console install of what they claim 77 million is gathering the same dust and was an abject failure in 2012.
If we can use sales when we want to claim who sold more hardware than the next system, but we can't use sales to dispute which peripheral is truly collecting dust and which one is not?

The only reason the Kinect "sells" is because it's bundled into almost every console bundle for the 360, and same goes for any of the games that sell for it- with the exception of Dance Central.
So the same could be said about all the PS3 exclusives that are bundled with the system.
This argument is just going in a circle at this point. Regardless that it's bundled, it's not in every bundle. People actively choose to get the system that includes the Kinect, not because they are forced to. There were 6+ (can't think of all the retailer specific SKUs) SKUs available this past holiday season, 3 of which I knew included the Kinect. People have the choice not to get it, but they do.

How playable were those games? I mean me and my friends could barely get past the first demolition pit as every car would gun for you. It got to the point where the only way you could even hope to finish is by driving backwards.
The races werent as bad though.

I enjoyed the second game a lot. It's definitely not a game for everyone since it gets pretty stressful when the goal is to finish the race and your car is getting majorly effed up. I think the new machines could handle the damage models etc much better now and make for a really fun experience.
Again, Kinect didn't prevent it's big core blockbuster exclusives for the CORE 360 gamer no matter how you spin it.
It didn't prevent Mass effect 2 and Reach in 10, Gears of War 3 in 11, or Halo 4 in 2012 from being the top selling exclusives of those years. It didn't prevent the Forza 4 or Horizon or any of the huge list of XBLA games. It didn't prevent console exclusives like Witcher 2 and Minecraft from releasing on the system. Micorsoft is not a bunch of idiots they know the 360 fans base make up a huge percentage of the last 3 CODs (which can sell over 14 million on the 360 alone), Elder Scrolls (GOTY), Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3, etc.
They released Kinect and supported it with the same amount of games over the course of 2 years that Sony has for Move.
They did it, they were successful and for their troubles they outsold both Sony and Nintendo worldwide in 2011.
At the end of the day MS is going on their 8th year knowing they ended the last two years with success on the hardware side, software side, Xbox Live, and Kinect.
It's a new gen and they are promoting Kinect and Sony will promote Move whether you or I like it or not.
False as proven before. Kinect Adventures has been the staple bundle from the day Kinect launched 2 years ago. It is a proven fact, that Kinect Sports as well as most of the games that sold over a million were not because of bundles.
Are we now pretending that games like Killzone 3, Uncharted, COD or Halo 4 only sell because they were also bundled some at launch?
Wait so NPD doesnt track bundles but you are claiming it didn't sell well when it F3 ended up doing GT5 numbers in NPD?
Again, your opinion is your opinion. Either way Forza as a franchise is here to stay and will make it for 360 fans next gen for sure.

The post I quoted said that Sony revealed that the Eye was a pack-in. They did not. I am aware of the rumors.
You keep telling yourself that, what we might want is not always the future a market is heading towards.
Also beyond Metro the desktop on Windows 8 is the best desktop on a Windows OS to date.
Heck yeah and I don't blame Sony at all. The disgusting part about these supposed fans is they use these exclusives as a badge for like a year leading up to the release, then crap on it if it doesnt sell or the bevs move on to better things.
Look at the anticipation leading up to games like Resistance 3 and Suprbots allstars and then find the threads in forums where Superbot got let go or Insomniac said they would never make another Resistance. It's crazy how they dismiss these games and turn their hate on the devs.
I'm not arguing kinect vs move sales, I'm saying kinect is a piece of shit. No amount of sales will change that so why are you quoting sales?

forza isn't anywhere near GT levels in sales.i am not saying forza is leaving,sales aren't bad either,it's just not a blockbuster.
It is in NPD which is what I'm pointing out. GT will always smash Forza worldwide as it is the one franchise out there that is popular around the whole entire Globe.
But Forza's biggest fan base in in America and it caught up to and may have surpassed GT5 number with Forza 3.
That is all I'm elluding to.

Again by YOUR standards. Good for you don't buy it. Kinect isn't for you. Still wont effect its past or future success at all, despite the hate it gets from a certain segment of fans.
One of the things, I'm most disappointed with regarding our media and segments of our gaming community. We are so quick to react and throw out an opinion without stepping back and looking at things on a macro level. Its not to say that I or anyone has all the answers or is all knowing, but we could avoid lot of hot button issues and misinformation.
Its my personal belief that of all the publishers Sony has made the biggest effort to provide gamers with a variety of games across retail and digital fronts. Things that our media and communities bemoan over and over again. And while the marketing may have not always been there, or maybe it wasn't your cup of tea, I think there's been more of an effort than most. And I think its reasonable, without being fanboyish, to at least recognize the fact that they do try.

The possibility of a title like Battlefield 4 being ready for launch is pretty damn exciting.
Can't wait for E3. I also expect to see some cool things.
(Personally though, Killzone was a major meh for me. LOOKS gorgeous. But that game play, at least in that snippet, just looked really tired. Watch Dogs is a million times more appealing.)

I kind of hope they don't... I'm getting old, just owning a PS4 next gen might be nice and then getting 720 down the line. But if they do, then I have to buy it asap and it'll be good for everyone.

Since I can read the link it's another case of people pretending that if a bad game is released in their opinion the whole peripheral is dead. But, we all know that's not true. That game may be dead, but it didn't stop Kinect from influencing two years of successful sales for the 360. Even as late as umm January's NPD numbers.

I read that this morning and it just struck me. You know which celebrity they should invite on stage ? Robert Downey Jr ! Everybody would love it, and who better than Tony Stark himself can sell you a new tech product ?

If you really need to know the difference between a full fledged RPG thats been on retail for a total of 2 years over a Kinect only spin-off that's pushing 4 months then ignorance is bliss.
Psygnosis games were very pretty, and had incredible music, but nobody will ever accuse them of being "playable". Stuff like Barbarian had point and click controls like you'd see in a first person dungeon crawler from back in the day. Just downright miserable stuff to play.
You basically bought those games for the AV rush they provided, even if playing them was like smashing your dick with a hammer.

Steel Batallion is the perfect example on how Kinect fails on the very promises it made: A game that is for real gamers, with a great concept, fails on just about every level of execution TO EVEN FUNCTION.
I own steel batallion on original xbox with the controller, guess which one is actually playable? I'll spell it out for you: The one with the real controller, which works, not the one on kincect, which does not work.

If you want to pretend that because you cherry pick a couple of bad games that it matters it means Kinect doesnt work then keep the fantroll goggles on and never take them off, because it isnt reality. There are bad games for every single console up till now and will be in the upcoming gen.
I own don't own Steel Batallion and could care less if it got a 10 on Metacritic. It doesnt change that my friend and family have had a blast with it. I bought 4 Kinects and every one of the kids and family I bought it for as gifts love it. Kinect has games that outdid the Wii in almost every motion control category and the new one is only going to get better. The bottomline for core games like shooters, nothing comes close to the Xbox controller. But, when it comes to casual games that the whole family can play then Kinect rules the game right now hands down.
At the end of the day all consoles on the market have motion controls, Kinect has been a huge success for MS and the fact is like Sony they are going to try to capture that market next gen as well whether you like it or not.

Now let's dart back to this conception that spin off titles get a free pass from the failures of critical and commercial reception?
Why is this the case?
It's certainly not the case with the Mario IP. The NSMB, Mario Kart, Paper Mario and Mario RPG sub IP's do not just live up to the commercial success of the core games, in many cases they actually exceed them. So why is it that when Fable and Halo have spin off titles which are horribly mishandled, that we are allowed to just brush them off as side titles which do not contribute to the overall success of the series? I do not do this with Sony's titles either, LBP:K was terribly handled.
If Nintendo release a spin off, I have NEVER had low expectations for its performance, with Microsoft and Sony, I do, the difference is that Nintendo is a good publisher. The difference between Sony and Microsoft being that Sony still at least put out a diverse lineup of high quality AAA games and are at least TRYING to appeal to core gamers.

Apologies, you have clearly forgotten about my previous post. I was asking why the bolded is relevant? We have seen numerous times with an IP that being a spin off is largely advantageous, if handled properly. Kinect has an install base which far exceeds 5 million, so naturally it is certain that what was Microsoft's second largest IP is more than capable of making a sizable impact on customers? I mean, after all...it certainly wouldn't flop!

They were priced equally? Surely a company as large as Microsoft would not price an exansion pack at the same price as the core content, especially when releasing against the most wildly anticipated sequel of its time!

Halo 5 is a horrible launch. You do know Halo 4 jus released 3 months ago and Spartan Ops is an episodic campaign only finishing the first season.
It's a trilogy. Please give 343i the standard 3 years of Dev time.
