So what was your first post on the forum? You waited months to get approved and you finally did.....so what words of wisdom did you impart on gaf?

If you have a ton of posts got to 'Search' -> 'Advanced Search'

User Name: Your User Name (Obviously)
Search Posts: "From a Year ago", "And Older" (Obviously change "Year ago" to something sooner if youre new)
Sort Results By: "Last Posting Day", "in Ascending Order"
Show Results As: 'Posts'

Your first Post should be the first on the list

First time poster long time forum stalker...anyway

Im not a big fan of jrpgs to begin with (mostly because I am terrible at them) but there has been one that definitely "moved" me

Kingdom Hearts....seriously, the CG opening and closing as well as the final level were some of the most intense gaming experiences Ive had... the final level
with the shredded up island the chance of being caught in eternal blackness
is terrifying, more so that its happening to lovable Disney characters....the fact that the final boss looks like some of the creepier FF bosses was actually really shocking

EDIT: On a side note, even though rpgs have huge epic stories, the stories I remember most are from action/adventure games (ico, sotc, MGS series, Silent Hill, Fahrenheit(excluding the last act of course))

DBLEDIT: (Freep) Im talking about the first one....gaf likes the first one, right? (please dont hit the noob for he does not understand the culture of this new and wondrous land)
I like Kingdom Hearts...lame

EDIT: Your god dammit

Was wondering if anyone could be so kind as to make me an avatar out of this?

First question:
I probably would recommend a bow with Pierce Shot. Bowing Low Rank Basarios is a lesson in patience, but it is very easy to dodge the majority of it's attacks with a roll or two.
*Edit*If you want to do melee, try Hammer. Basarios' stomach is its weakpoint. Try not to get caught in its poison cloud or hipcheck if you go this route, though.

Second Q:
You need to fight High Rank monsters to make High Rank armor (S, U). Those monsters would be in Elder 7* - 9*, or Guild Hall 6* - 8*(HR4 - HR6).

Third Q:
Upgrading an armor merely ups its defense, and doesn't change its rank. You could upgrade, if you wanted to, but then again you'd probably find a better armor later.

Fourth Q:
Just beat on a Garuga's head with a Hammer until you break its ears. You might break its beak first, just keep trying. Garuga Ears are sort of rare. You'll get it in the rewards for the quest.
I'm just giving some MHFU advice here, and also misunderstanding somebody's question a little (wings, not ears) :|

And here I am again, playing MH3U. How time flies, lol

Great thread idea.

I don't know... maybe I haven't played the game long enough to have these "problems" that others are having. Whenever I play I simply line my dragon up to my target until the white targeting halo is on it, then if I need to get a better bearing I will then use lock-on.. not too difficult. GTA wasn't docked so many points for its horrible shooting mechanics.

From September 2007. Fucking embarrassing.

Heck yes I would love to be immortal. Imagine how I could use that power to help people! I can imagine myself taking a bullet for someone without worrying about dying from the hit. Then eventually I would probably use my new found ability to become a revolutionary of some kind (most likely of Iran) and slowly build up an army.

As my army grew I would have people admiring me; treating me as if I am a god-like being. Slowly I would take over the world country by country and I would lead the world and keep peace.

Then overtime I would make myself a head of state while dividing the world into sections (each section ruled by a democratically-elected leader). I would watch the world day by day and continue to be its silent guardian.

hm...

Holy shit I am some sort of fortune teller:

While 3rd party ports would be great for Nintendo, and would go a long way towards capturing the current 360/PS3 audience, what I'm really curious to see is if Nintendo will be able to secure any high-profile, big budget 3rd party exclusives. I don't see current single-console 360/PS3 owners buying the Cafe instead of waiting for the PS4/new Xbox simply because they can play the slightly better-looking version of a game they can already play on a system they already own. I'm honestly not convinced that 3rd parties are going to take the risk of putting tons of money towards a single-console release, considering that at least early on, the Cafe's potential to sell 3rd party software will be completely unproven. I know Nintendo's not in the habit of paying 3rd parties large sums (or anything) for exclusives, but it might not be a bad idea to consider buying some exclusives if they're serious about competing with Sony and Microsoft.

On an unrelated note, HD Starfox developed by Treasure, please (and bring back the silly SNES voices while you're at it). I can always dream...

And then in response to "what big hardcore franchises should they be gunning for?":

Yeah, they're certainly not going to get a huge-name franchise like GTA or CoD. I think they'd do well to partner with a developer like Platinum. Their games don't sell great, but their development philosophy really jives with Nintendo, and they seem to have a good relationship with them. Their games might not be million-sellers, but gaming enthusiasts and the gaming press will take note of high-quality exclusives, and lend Nintendo some "street cred," which I think is more important than most people realize.

From 5/07/11

technically my 2nd and 3rd... first one was about oreos

That explains one user I noticed bitching about a Wii title being #1. *sigh*

Is M:OM intended to be another title in the 'core' Metroid franchise or another spin-off a la the Prime sub-series?

Yay, first post!

Edit: Ah, Wikipedia states the game is set between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion.

Can't go back far enough?

My first post was a year after I was registered? That really doesn't seem right. I definitely posted before that. I think advanced search might be borked for me.

Due to the fact I wasn’t able to use the Super Game Boy for Ruby I never got into like the previous games, so thank goodness for the fact I finally caved in and got a GBPlayer for Leaf Green.
My final team is shaping up to be Porygon2, Lanturn, Camerupt, Heracross, Miltank (when I can get a hold of one) and something else. I was planning for a Politoed instead of Lanturn, but I’m not getting Sapphire just so I can breed the moves I want onto the ol’ mediocre but loveable bastard.

I’m currently mired in this rather annoying process of EV training (which I preferred never knowing existed), so I’m wasting an extraordinarily long time on the completely pointless but more amusing process of naming.

This is my first post from the new/current version of the forums. Wish I could see my actual first post.

Right after Dragona too, typical.

I've not played Pokemon for so long now.

My first post was discussing what would we do if we could make another Panzer Dragoon game:
I'd make it an on-rails shooter, no doubt. Only thing is, I'd tell them that I'll make it for free...as long as they make the final chapters of Shenmue...heck, I'd even fund that project, I just want to know what happens.

I'm really not sure why I signed the post...I do know that my first post was going to be was my first thread:

Ok, every once in a while, a “retail bitching” thread pops up here, mostly filled with people’s experiences at EB, Gamestop, Best Buy, etc. What I really haven’t seen are any discussions on how a brick-and-mortar store should be. Granted, it’s easier to just complain about aggressive membership and magazine sales, unknowledgeable employees, and used-sold-as-new games, but what does everyone here see as ideal game store policies?

Heck, taking that to the extreme, what would be considered the perfect game store? Of course, the answer may very well be “EB’s layout is perfect” or “BestBuy’s demo area is excellent” but I’d like to see what people think.

I’ll be forward and say this is more than just casual curiosity. I am currently in the process of opening my own store, and am trying to improve on existing designs and practices. While I’ve run a game store in the past, I can’t claim I’m any retail wiz, I’m just a gamer who has raised the funding to start a small dream project. So, yeah, I’m seeking other opinions, might catch something I’ve overlooked, and generally just want to make the best damn game store I can (within budget).

Of course, if this thread turns into another "retail bitching" thread, I guess that's ok, too (as long as I can glean something from the complaints).

...but I figured it would be in bad form to have my first post be a completely new thread. So I spent two weeks making various posts in random discussions.

Huzzah! After months of reading about your shenanigans in here, I can finally join in the intelligent conversation!

Every "combo" I do ends in a Bionic Arm or Gamma Crush. Probably won't have much to contribute. And I even bought the guide...

Fuc* Marvel 3.

See, I may have plenty of posts, but I can't read an OP after all this time.

First Post:

Don't hate on the console Deus Ex. I first played it on PC when it came out, but somewhere along the way I lost the disc, and I have since become one of those horrible, lazy, stupid, ignorant console gamers.

I found DX on PS2 sitting unloved for $15 earlier this year, and said why the hell not?

It was still just absolutely awesome. Ok, the load screens every 5 minutes are annoying, but that should not be an issue with the current gen consoles, and the gameplay itself was almost identical.

I never played the second one, but I hope this one will be awesome, on PC AND consoles.

DE:HR announcement thread.

Analog support in FFVII as well as Xenogears would make everything much nicer and a bit more accessible.

Funny that even two years later I was still complaining about this until they finally added that ability to the Vita. And now it's (FF7) what I'm playing on my Vita. I'm finally going to beat it you guys, just watch me! I'll do it. I swear I'll do it.

i posted in a "Welcome Juniors Thread" and said some negative comments about Selena Gomez-gaf. looking back, i just realized Professor Beef began posting as well. we are like brothers.

Ermac said:
I'd have to say Metroid Prime 3 as well. It was a great game, it just seemed to drag on a bit toward the end. The Prime formula is definitely getting a bit tiring, hopefully Ninty will be able revolutionize it again with the next entry. (Dread anyone? :D )

Sounds like a Gamefaqs post.

Damn I came into this forum with my first post with a chip on my shoulder and debating with Basada.

Maybe I need to change the way I am here. It's not the most pleasant kind of person to have around.

The date is kinda cool though: (07-19-2007, 07:07 AM

From the Uncharted 1 OT back in July of '09.

When I first bought the game I thought it was simply "good" and wished that the game didn't have so many waves of enemies and more puzzles/platforming. After replaying the game on hard and crushing, I grew to appreciate the combat system quite a bit and the way ND continuously amped up the encounters. It became one of my favorite games this gen.

What I want for U2 is more of a balance between Puzzles/Platforming/Action. It looks like we're getting just that with many of the elements meshing judging from the gameplay videos from 2 months ago and E3.

If I only knew what awaited....

Also, third post.

I don't think we'll be getting any news on Episode 3 until next year. But from what Valve said, the game will release soon after we get our first news. It's the same thing they tried to do with HL2 by revealing it in E3 2003 and releasing it Q4 2003. Lets just hope it happens this time.

:lol

I'm looking through some gaming age archives, here's one post:

I bet Angel will get killed after this season citing "low ratings and no signal for growing audience".

Except Angel is one of the few shows on right now with audience growth...in it's 5th season

Most likely due to carryovers from Buffy and Spike fans

How depressing is that :(

Is there a way to go directly to your post in a topic from the search results list?

Ha! This is almost embarrassing. My first post was debating the Zelda timeline. Lol.

12-24-2005, 01:49 AM

Zelda I started the tale

Zelda II was a direct sequel to Zelda I

Zelda: AlttP was the prequel to Zelda I

Zelda: LA was an epilogue to the AlttP Link

Zelda OoT was a prequel to AlttP. It is basically the Imprisoning War outlined in the AlttP manual.... Any differences can be explained by the fact that the manual is telling it as a mythic and legendary version of the real tale.

Zelda Oracle of Ages and Seasons.... no idea. Its own Zelda legend perhaps? AlttP or classic Link? Who knows.

Zelda Wind Waker is a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time (many years later). However, its events do not lead into AlttP very well, placing it in some sort of alternate reality to AlttP, unless some post-Wind Waker sequel comes along tying it together.....

Zelda Minish Cap is another one of those random Zelda legends.... it doesn't seem to necessarily fit anywhere..... It's another incarnation of Link and Zelda in Hyrule.

At this point I don't think Zelda will adhere to any strict timeline, but there is a loose continuity that has been observed from time to time. Some games are direct sequels or prequels to other games, but do not fit into a conlcusive Zelda timeline due to serious inconsistancies. Sometimes it's best to treat them as isolated "Zelda legends" with loose connections.

I don't think it's that wrong, though. Better consult the Historia ;)
