Well expecting me to buy the same game annually is also pretty out of touch with reality.Expecting BF4 to be completely different is out of touch with reality.
I am really not seeing it. Either way it doesn't matter. This isn't enough of a leap over last gen to get people investing in hardware. I would bet anything Battlefield 5 or whatever it's called comes out in 2014 and blows this game out of the water.
Oh I agree with that much, that's why I said the delivery should get better. I'm just saying that unless you have a 200 million dollar budget you aren't gonna get a macro and micro level experience, it just doesn't happen.
For example Assassins Creed 3 or GTA or whatever, how the hell do you convey a sense of narrative when in reality you are fucking it all up. Oh the world is about to end? Hold up, imma let you finish but first I gotta do this completely unrelated shit that would never make sense in a situation like it, because I feel like talking a walk to the beach and kill a shark just cuz
Are you telling me that this video game might not be entirely realistic?
seems like last gen shooters mostly, (as opposed to current gen shooters which they despise as the work of the devil).
because living in the past is cool.

He's mocking the logistics of the situation. I'm willing to bet 99% of players would have shot the damn buggy dude in the face from the cover they started behind instead of the faux tactical suppression + flank.
Oh shit dude, you're blowing my mind here. That changes everything. But it's been two years...
Do we need 200 million dollar budgets? Does every game need a C-Tier Hollywood plot? Does every game even need a plot at all? In the realm of stupidly high budget games, developers always want to play it ultra-safe. Challenging their own (or player-held) assumptions is not a high priority, naturally.
No, don't get me wrong, I'm not part of the "need to explore all those buildings or the game is worthless" open world brigade at all. I have no issues with linear shooters, or the micro level experience. I just expect more from devs than to keep regurgitating Call of Duty 4 with better graphics, especially from a franchise not named Call of Duty. The tech on display here is being wasted. It's a nice tech demo, but that's all.

Once in the land of gaming far away, long ago it was not unprecedented to expect new things from new platforms and games.
But that's like the "hippies" era of gaming. And everyone hates hippies rite?
surprisingly that didn't blow me away ..
was watching in 1080p on my 46inch ..but yeh ..kinda looked like BF3 with some nicer water and fabric effects tossed on.
no scene wow'd me like the ps4 killzone fly over at the start of that vid... but BF is all about the destructible enviros
Yep, there were some nice graphic effects, but otherwise it looked like any other modern war shooter.
Current-gen can be a step down from last gen. History had a little thing called the dark ages, y'know.
Very very impressed with the graphics. "Bf3.5" lol

Since this is PC footage, of course it's running at 60 fps.Mind! Blown! I wanted to criticise some stuff but after the last 5 minute I just can't. And this is running at 60 fps, imagine what's possible next gen.
Is it me, or do the graphics get utterly ridiculous when they show the female soldier?
It doesn't even look like the rest of the footage shown and Battlefield doesn't do cinematics.

And sometimes we don't. Haha. Why? We almost always know if there are going to be microtransactions well before launch.
Whoever was playing in the gameplay video wasn't doing a very good job. I thought DICE rehearsed stuff like that? Pretty game tho'!
EDIT: ... And judging by the way the gun moves (ie controls) i'm guessing that's the PS4 version we're seeing right there.
Yep. I was very impressed with KZ4 but it cant hold a candle to this.I don't know what anyone else is smoking, but it is easily the best looking game thus far (visually).
Oh I agree, that's why I'm in love with Bioshock Infinite right now. The reason why I think BF4 looks awesome is because it looks awesome in terms of presentation.
There's only so much interesting stuff you can do with a big military shooter unfortunately. At the end of the day it will always be the same old dudes in military uniforms killing other dudes in a war. That's why MP is such a big thing in such games.
